We are thinking about tenting( we just sold our travel trailer!) on one of the kids school vacations-either February or April....tell me what you think. Hows the weather, crowds (Feb vac is Pres. day week, April is mid -month). Never have driven from Ma to Fla, but thought if we left on a Thurs/Fri night, took our time, checked in Sunday-Thurs, and started back home late Thurs night, again took our time make it back late Sat/Sun. Are we crazy? What do you think?

I would suggest February. Typically, the weather is cooler & less humid than April. April's weather can be a crap-shoot! Also...the crowds are somewhat lighter in February.

Your driving plan sounds good. If you left Friday, you'd make it in plenty of time to check in on Sunday. (I'm basing that on driving from Buffalo - about the same distance) In your case, just take I-95 south to I-4 and hook a right. Drive 1 hour to the Disney exits!! :yay:

We have never had any bad weather in April, but it can be hot during the day. If you are talking about mid-April '08, that is long after Easter and the crowds should be better then usual, but Spring Break time can always be busy.

Feb is a great time to go, but do pack a sweatshirt or two, as it can be chilly (especially mornings and evenings).
We even woke up to a light frost on the ground in Feb. 06 at AKL... for some reason, I didn't expect that at all!
Since the pools are heated, it's great once you get in the water, but it was cold once you stepped out... the kids and hubby didn't mind, but it was too much for me!
Either time is great, but I would always prefer a time with cooler weather.. it seems to make park touring so much easier!

Check the rates, you may be better off with February, depending upon your dates. The last time we were there in April it was in the 90's almost every day and really humid. I would pick February.

I would go for February. The weather is cooler for tenting and the crowds are way lower. April is a nightmare.

We were at FW this past April. Arrived the Saturday after Easter and stayed till the following Saturday. We had a range of weather, from hot and humid the night we arrived to cool enough for sweatshirts and jeans for the next few days. It would be wise to pack a few pair of jeans and some long sleeves along with the shorts and tank tops (we did get to wear those too). We didn't feel that the parks were crowded at all. In fact, the day we went to AK, we won Dream Fastpasses and didn't even get to use them for most of the rides because there simply weren't any lines (with the exception of Expedition Everest and the Safari).

We would definitely go again in April, because no matter what the weather was like, it was sure to be better than what PA was having!

I would say Feb too, but President's weekend is insane with crowds. We were there last year and on President's day itself, the Magic Kingdom was so crowded! It felt like the summer. But the temperature was cold! We had below freezing temperatures on 2 of the nights. In the end, it was considerably warmer than at home. :)
