February 27th 2011 Mexican Riviera aboard the Wonder

:welcome: Dinofamilylv! You are going to love the cruise! If you get to the ship early you might be able to switch your Palo reservation...if they don't have any openings, just be asked to be put on the waitlist...we have always gotten a call during the cruise when we were on the waitlist. Our boys are just about the same age...Nick just turned 12 in Nov. and Connor is 8 (will be 9 in July). I'm sure they will be hanging out in many of the same places! Can't wait for the cruise...I am already tired of the snow here (and it just began!)

Thanks DisneyZell! :cool1: I am sure our boys will have tons of fun! Mine are a little shy at first but, I'm hoping they'll warm up quickly to all the excitement and new friends. We had already planned on coming in the day before and getting to the port early but, I had hoped to be more relaxed once on board. I guess we're going to have to try to reschedule our Palo dinner... esp. since we found some great pirate gear at the local Disney warehouse store. pirate:

If anyone has been to the Pirate dinner and Palo dinner... which one would you pick to go if you had to choose between the two? I wish the special dinners would have been mentioned on the Disney Cruise site when making reservations for activities! :confused3

*Nights 1, 3, 5, 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 4: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

So...getting excited, but...just realized that the room I booked is right outside of the new 'tween club, "The Edge". I booked this room thinking that it would be better for my husband, being lower and more midship. He's worried that he will get sea sick. What do you think? Should I try to upgrade or just deal?

That being said...just picked up a pink skull and cross bones iron on for my DD's pirate night t-shirt and a pink bandana! She just saw a commercial for the new pirate cartoon coming to Disney Junior and is obsessed with being a pink pirate now. With my luck, by the time we get there she won't want to be pink anymore!:cutie:

Nobody on this board has planned a meet up as of yet, but I think some people are interested. We could always plan a super informal meet up at the Cove Cafe or somewhere else on the first or second day? Sound good to anyone?

Sounds great to me! I think it would be awesome if someone set up a meet. Let me know, and we will be there! :thumbsup2

Great! We have three takers so far on a meet up! :) Will everyone be there early? I'm not sure about timing on the first day, what with the life boat drill, sail away party, etc.; but what about 3:00 PM that first day? Would it be pushing people for time?

There should be a smilie icon with a sombrero...

I'm in for the meetup too - esp for those taking part of the FE so that we can get any last minute cabin changes! I'd prefer not meeting in the adult only area though. That would exclude the kiddos (some people may have babies or kids who don't wanna go to the club *fingers crossed that isn't me*).

Sorry...forgot that the cafe is adults only! I didn't mean to exclude the kids by any means, as my daughter is looking forward to meeting new friends! How about near the Goofy pool? Any other suggestions are welcome!

I would love to meet up to. Do you think 3pm is a reasonable time? Am just thinking people might get on a little late, then still be eating lunch etc? I have no idea though really, as never cruised before!

Hi everyone!

Jess--what a beautiful love story!! And what a blessing for your kids. Congrats!!

Hope you're all having a good week. I am almost ready to commit to my FE project (I have a few ideas and I can't decide!)...waiting on final numbers to see which idea I'll go with. If you've considered the FE fun, but think it's too much work...you can do something REALLY simple. Like a piece of bubble gum or a little bottle of bubbles. Anything is exciting...trust me! Coming back to your room to find that someone left something is so exciting...one of my son's favorite FE gifts last time was a little pack of holiday M&Ms. Ha! Something so simple but he LOVES chocolate!

So...if you want to participate but think you have to do something elaborate, please reconsider!

We'll be joining you all! First time on a Disney cruise, but we've cruised the Mexican Riviera several times. We're from the SF Bay Area and travelling with another family. We each have 3 kids,....that's three boys and three girls total. Ages ranging from 3-9. It'll be my DH's birthday on the 2nd (Day 4 of the cruise) so I hope it's special! That's Pirate night, right? So I can tell him the fireworks are for him! :)
Looking forward to it!
Jodie

Oh, and I just signed up on the FE thread. I'm excited! Never heard of it before this message board!

Hi peasprout family! :grouphug:

We used to live in Fremont in SF Bay area before moving to Las Vegas! I am so glad that Disney decided to have some cruises out of California... we're hoping to do the Alaska cruise one of these days as well. Lol, I haven't even been on our first cruise, and already planning our second and third (after seeing the Disney Dream). :boat:

I am sure your husband will have an awesome time. :cake: We're celebrating my husband's birthday as well but, his is on the 21st (unfortunately didn't coincide with the Kids Sail Free, haha)

See you onboard!

I'm in! I will watch for changes to the date/time, as we work things out. But I think it's going to be a lot of fun!

And I agree, we need a smilie/sombrero or smilie/margarita combo! ;)

:welcome: Peasprout! You will fall in love with the Disney cruise! This will be our 4th one and our 5th one is going to be on the Dream this July! We used to be in the bay area as well...I went to high school in Pleasanton, and lived for a while in Brentwood before DH got a job out in New Hampshire. We sure do miss it! For your DH's b-day, make sure you talk to the head server and let him know you want to celebrate it and on what day (I'm assuming you would want to celebrate it on his actual b-day). They will bring out some cake and they will sing to him!

I know....the timing isn't great, what with people getting on the ship, eating lunch, getting settled in the room....not to mention exploring (for us newbies), life boat drill and then the early diners having to get ready for dining! Maybe we should shoot for day 2 in the morning?

I had Jordak do the Mickey & Minnie/beach chair magnet for us. In it, Mickey & Minnie have mickey bars in their hands. I was trying to figure out how to switch them for a couple of Coronas!

We'd love to do a meet up! If the time works we will be there!

What a small world, I'm from Fremont, CA also.

So we have been having MAJOR passport issues. We all have them except our son who is 16 and is severly autistic. This is why we are cruising on Disney in the first place, he just loves it. So the passport agency sent back his application saying he needs to sign it in person. Ummm he can't write? They told me to just sign it for him? Then I find out the passport people I am talking to are NOT the real passport agency, it is just a call center, like calling Directv. I have been trying to get a hold of an actual human at the REAL government passport agency.

We went through our city hall - they charged us $25 to help us fill out the forms, process & send them to the Passport office in Seattle. We thought we were going to have to rush them but we received them in less than 2 weeks w/o rushing. My passport was expired & my daughter didn't have one yet. We both just got the cards since we aren't flying into Mexico. the cards are good for Canada & Hawaii - I believe 5 years & much cheaper. It worked very smooth & I liked working directly with the city who made the process very easy for us b/c they knew EXACTLY what to do.

I am sorry you are going through this - you should call your city & see if they have a desk that can help you out. you may want to pay the rush fee at this point but if you only get a card, it'll still be less than a passport would.

Is that schedule confirmed? I planned the Exotic Rasul from 5-5:50 on Night 2 which means that since we have early dinner we'd be rushing to get there. I'm thinking I'll likely cancel that - but bumbed b/c it's one of the only times that was left...sigh. Other kink is that our daughter will be in the nursery so I have to try & schedule the two together.

Thanks all!
