February 27th 2011 Mexican Riviera aboard the Wonder

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage, Jess! :cool1:

Were you able to find the answer to your question, Ltl Mermaid?

We are 52 days away! YES!! :thumbsup2

The shore excursions we have planned are -

Puerto Vallarta City Tour
Salsa and Salsa in Mazatlan
Dolphin Swim in Cabo

Anybody doing any of that with us? :)

We don't have any excursions planned...the only thing I know we want to do is go to Stone Island off of Mazatlan. DH and I did that back in 1994, so I'm sure it is very different now. When we went, no one really knew about it, so we had almost the whole beach to ourselves. We went horseback riding and ate at this open air restaurant right on the beach. It will be interesting to see the changes! I just started working on our fish extender gifts....now it really seems close to the cruise. Last thing left is to book our rental car before the cruise. Our kids still have no clue about the cruise and I think we will keep it that way. Our first surprise will be picking them up from school that Friday before the cruise to catch our flight. I think we are just telling them we are going to California for our school break. Then, we'll get up on Sunday and drive to the port...surprise #2. And surprise # 3 will be when they see their friends who are also coming with us! We can't wait.

So I signed up for the fish extender, but I am not certain I want to do it now. I am not really crafty at all.

Jess - Now that's a "happily ever after" story!!!

I think we are doing three beach days - all on our own. My kids are still sorta young, we don't want to spend a lot of money and my parents just want to relax. I'm up for whatever as long as I get to plan it!

Thanks!! We are so excited:) And it makes this trip really special...

For excursions, as I said DF and I are:
* ziplining in PV
* we were going to do the all inclusive beach day resort in Mazatlan but couldn't jusitfy the hefty cost for four of us ($400 :scared1:) with the wedding and trying to move into a house for all of us- so that day we are going to do Stone Island on our own. Should be cheap and my kids will have fun playing in the sand and eating:)
*We are going to do the harbor cruise/scenic stop at 7am in Cabo which gets done at 10 and then we are going to taxi over to San Jose del Cabo (about 20 min away) which is more historic, more authentic shopping and apparently doesn't have aggressive vendors or that cabo-party feel. So hopefully that will be good (as long as we get back to the ship in time!)

On a dif note- I randomly checked on my DL anaheim hotel reservation today and found it had been canceled? Ugh. I've stayed there before a cpl times and never had issues. I have no idea what is going on. There are still rooms available and I sent them an e-mail so hopefully it will get resolved. Thank god I checked! What a nightmare that would've been....

i know what you mean...

i randomly checked on our flights and one of our flights going home was no longer showing on the reservation!!! and when i tried to call and get it fixed, it was during the christmas storm in the north east, so i couldn't get through. i had to wait about a week to call again. finally, it took about an hour on the phone to straighten that out!

good luck with your hotel! and congrats!!:cheer2:

That's where we are going! We did it last year but it was rainy and sorta cold. I'm hoping for a beautiful sunny day this time.

I am assuming we have 2 formalish nights on this cruise. Can anyone confirm that and/or what nights they will be?

Thanks!

I read somewhere that the formal night will be on night 2 and semi-formal night will be on night 6. Pirate night will be on night 4.
For the life of me, I cannot remember where I read this...so if I am incorrect, my apologies!

I read this somewhere as well (on these boards...) I remember the poster had called DCL directly.

Changing the subject- is anyone worried about their flights home? DCL recommends a flight that is 12:30 or later to use their onboard check in/transportation to LAX. Our flight is right at 12:30....

There is a thread going around on the main page now saying other cruise lines sometimes don't get you off the ship due to San Pedro custom issues until 10 0r 11 am.

I am trying not to panic....

We are a Disney-loving family and so excited to be going on our first ever cruise! We have all never been on a ship, never been to Mexico and looking forward to this exciting new adventure.

Although, I wish I had found this forum earlier as I booked our Palo dinner reservations for the fourth night which is apparently when the Pirate Night will occur. My hubby doesn't want to miss the Pirate dinner. I'm hoping to be able to change our reservation to a different night once we get onboard.

It will be myself, my DH, our DS (11), DS (8)

We planned the following shore excursion:

PV City Tour 9:15AM
MZ Folkloric Show & Sightseeing 8:15AM
CSL Harbor Cruise & Scenic Stop 7:15AM

See you soon!

:welcome: Dinofamilylv! You are going to love the cruise! If you get to the ship early you might be able to switch your Palo reservation...if they don't have any openings, just be asked to be put on the waitlist...we have always gotten a call during the cruise when we were on the waitlist. Our boys are just about the same age...Nick just turned 12 in Nov. and Connor is 8 (will be 9 in July). I'm sure they will be hanging out in many of the same places! Can't wait for the cruise...I am already tired of the snow here (and it just began!)

I think that might have been from me... I did call DCL about a month ago, and that's what the CM told me! :)

Thanks all! That helps the planning!

Now I am just trying to decide what to do in Cabo...the Chileno Bay Snorkeling Adventure and the Sea of Cortez Snorkeling Experience sound very similar. Anyone know what the differences might be???

Are you all planning on doing any meets while we are there, or fish extender exchanges?

I cannot wait, it will be here before we know it!

The info probably was from you, Mainstreet! Thanks for doing the footwork (or phonework;)) for all of us! Muchas gracias!
As for the question regarding FE's...there is one happening! There's a link a few pages back, I believe. We will not be participating in FE's as I'm already feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out how to pack everything...including the princess dresses!princess:
Nobody on this board has planned a meet up as of yet, but I think some people are interested. We could always plan a super informal meet up at the Cove Cafe or somewhere else on the first or second day? Sound good to anyone?

Hello,

We have sailed out of San Pedro twice on the Mariner and both times were off by 8 - 8:30am.

Hello,

I am interested in attending a meet and greet. I am open to any location. I am also going to skip the FE, for the same reason. Feeling a little overwelmed and I'm not crafty at all.

We are really looking forward to this cruise. Only 6 more weeks.

Rachel
