Let your DH know that he wont feel stuck!!The Ship is HUGE!! There is plenty of places outside to hang out and play in. You will be amazed!!!

There are plenty of LArge places to hang out in if the weather is bad that have large windows. Alos plenty of times when you can get off the ship at the ports.

If you want to add a ticker...just find one in someones signature that you like and click on it. It could possible take you right o the website. IF not you may see the site name in the ticker.

If you go up to the top of the boards you will see a blue line across with white words the word on the far left is "user cp" click that and go to EDIT signature you will need to copy and paste your ticker into that area. also you can put your name or other things.

You can go to the helpdesk on the ship to book your Cabana, but you never know how many will be booked. already. You can get on a waitlist possibly.
What is your reason for needing a cabana? Just curious becasue we went in on one with the WIlmingtons our last cruise and we were NOT IMPRESSED.
although i understand if you need it for your DD.

What a wonderful wish your daughter has asked for! This is our second cruise and we had such a wonderful time, we booked another one!

I will sign you up for the Fish Extender (FE) and send out a new list after Christmas! The FE is fun! You can do homemade gifts, gifts that represent your state/where you live, candies, treats, store-bought, cruise...whew...basically anything you want!

The name of our Cruise board is Sailin' to the Saints...I am working on a logo and hopefully will have a draft next week. I will give you a hint of what it looks like...There is a Pirate Mickey!

I know it is a lot to look through the boards, so why don't we all give a quick top three things to remember when cruising Disney-Style!

1. Bring an over-the-door shoe organizer-inexpensive that you can throw away
2. Have a plan!! Use the Navigators. There is sooo much to do if you know where to look!
3. Power strip! With all the electronics and the in-cabin phones, you will need the charger.

Could everyone else chime in with theirs?

MY top one is always the shoe holder so i second that!!! it is very helpful to stay organized...NOT FOR SHOES!!! for all your little things you need for bathrrom i put my hose in it hairclips etc.

But i also say:

1. I have found that if i get the LARGE 2 gallon ziplock bags and pack in those. I usally do (if taking the kids) 2 for each day one for adults and one for kids...i label the outside as to what i need to put in them and i have found this makes it easier when i look back through to see if i have forgotten anything,

2. Bring somethng like a ziplock or other bag to put allyour things from the FE exchange...it could possibly be alot. of litle things.

3. UNDER PACK...you can rewear clothes,

4. When you get in your room...UNpack, and store your luggage under you rbed...You may have to have one person lift it a bit while you slide liggage under neath.

5. if you have room leave one suitcase in your closet and anything you know you will not use or need again just go ahead and put back i do this the whole trip so that i dont have to spend HOURS the last night repacking!!

Happy Holidays all! Hope Santa was as good to you as he was to me!

My favorite tips with kids:

1. Bring snacks, lots of them! Raisins, fruit snacks, granola bars, animal crackers, something to hold them over!

2. Bring a night light! We pack one in DS's shower kit, so it's always next to the toothbrush, and easy to find. It helps make any room a little less scary.

3. Have the kids pack their own airplane or backpack bag with a couple of "friends" inside and a blanket.

Less than 2 months! I just bought my FE today on ebay and ordered a pillowcase too for signatures.

Cabana's were all booked when I booked excursions last week.

Make a Wish hasnt sent my reservation number but Mom did her own online. She received an email to book activities and the Cabanas are all SOLD OUT I thought it would be great since Sydney would have someplace to go out of sun....If anyone out there would like to share one, we would be more than happy to split the fee..
Im ofcourse learning all I can, do you all make your own fish extenders or I saw some on Ebay since Im not a seamstress?? Im excited to be involved with all I can Im the social one in the family!!

dont worry to much about the cabana, although it would be nice to be able to get out of the sun.

IT wont be like middle of Summer heat. When we were there in Jan of last year we actually only put our toes in the water as it was sooo cold.
OF course it can always change in a flash.

BUT even so there are umbrellas with the chairs and I am sure if you just make a request at the front desk area they would be able to accomodate you with a couple umbrellas and good seating area. THere is also the shop you could go into and there is eating place that you can go into as well.

Many people make their own
But i have also seen "other" things used instead of a "normal" fish extender such as a purse, a stocking, a disney bag, a treasure box, a pumpkin head, a back pack,
But you could also order one from ebay too.

Ive read thru this whole thread and feeling overwhelmed. So there is a formal nite? A pirate nite? Ive ordered a magnet for our door stating its Sydney's Make a Wish trip. Have t made any reservations yet and trying to understand the upgrades..can u do online? I have my cabin number and that is all from MAW(make a wish) its on deck one so I'm assuming it's a itty bitty too
But can't complain sine they r picking up the bill! I'm ordering a different Minnie outfit each day for Sydney do u all wear matching shirts upon arrival?? So many questions and still don't understand the alcohol so my husband can pack up his Busch light
I also tried to PM my info for FE but I don't have enough posts.. Well mid it's and I'm too excited to sleep! To find me just look for a beautiful girl w Down syndrome and a smile

It is always a little daunting when there are so many things out there...I will try to answer a few of your concerns.

1. Yes, there is a formal night but some people dress up and some don't. It is really up to you. They do pictures that night, so if you would like to capture your family all dressed up-GO FOR IT
2. Pirate Night-Yes, there is Pirate Night. There is a deck party and it is fun to dress up in your pirate gear. They have photo opportunities there, as well. Our little ones dressed up but we brought eye patches and hats!
3. Upgrades-Since this is only our second cruise, I don't have much info on that area. From what I understand, when you get to the Port, you can go and see if an upgrade is available at a smaller cost than what it would have been to do it online.
4. Matching Shirts...well, since I am a firm believer that not everyone should match, I don't promote this, BBBUUUUTTTT, since my Partner (cyndi-rella) is in charge of that stuff, we usually do. She was gentle on last time and just made us all wear red and denim. PHOTO OP!
5. You can carry alcohol on the ship. Disney asks that it not be in your luggae but a soft sided cooler or carry on. I carry on a Coleman Cooler as one of my carry ons and DP carries on this awesome bag she got from Marshalls. Last time we brought pre-made Golden Margaritas, Bud Light Lime and mini bottle of whiskey.

YES,

There is a formal night
a semi formal night
and a pirate night.

The other nights are just normal dress.(DCL suggests that you dont wear shorts or jeans to dinner) other than that you can pretty much wear what ever you want.

NOW, dont get overwhelmed about the formal or semi or pirate.
You dont have to go "overboard" ha for any of them or if you want to you can.

Such as: For formal night, i have seen teenager girls in jean skirts and nice shirt. Kids in khakis and polo's I have also seen ladies in ball gowns and men in tuxedos (which is what we will be doing this time)

semi formal ....more or less of the above nice church clothes or funeral clothes if you dont go to church.

pirate night...also seen it all, i saw one guy dress up so much i thought he was a character orwe have dressed up all degrees of a costume, to just a pirate tshirt......This year we will be in Lumiers for Pirate night, so i have decided to be a little more dressy and will be wearing BLACK SKIRT white Long sleeve shirt a little frilly, black panty hose with skulls on them and a black scarf with skulls as well ..... i also have jewlry with skulls

But you will recieve a scraf at the table that your kids could wear so maybe you just want to purchase an eye patch.

UPGRADES????????

seems our cruise is getting fuller and fuller.
There may not be many upgrades left.


Matching shirts..............yes DH and i will be wearing matching shirts for our Boarding day..........they will be RED and they will say something about it being our honey moon not sure what yet..........as i am making them.

We will aslo have on our wedding ears.


alchohol....as emmysdidi said just put it in your carry on.
IF you are flying in you would have to make your way to the store before boarding somehow.

Hi Denise!

Just relax and have fun! We're doing matching shirts too, but it was on accident. We went to a restaurant this summer where a friend is manager. He hooked me up with matching tie dye shirts from there for everyone in the family, so we decided voila! We told my dad he doesn't have a choice, it will make us easily visible to each other in the terminal before we board.

We are not going full formal on formal night. Nice dresses for the ladies and trousers and nice shirts for the fellas.

I just bought my FE on ebay the other day. My seller is bonnysews. She is doing a custom one for me and a pillowcase for my son that I will drop off at the desk for character signatures. For 3 panels on the custom FE and the pillowcase it was around $50 for both before shipping. I'm not crafty either, but boy can I shop!

As for reservations do you have your reservation # and an online login for DCL? That is where we booked our island excursions and made special reservations.

Emmysdidi - how many does that put us to for the FE? With the post xmas sales i'm finding some good ideas...

Hi Denise! Welcome to the meet thread! How exciting for you and your sweet girl, and the whole family. My hubby wasn't thrilled before his first Disney cruise, but he warmed up quickly and it was truly our best family vacation ever.

It seems like most of your questions have been answered, but I just wanted to chime in with two things:

1) Don't stress out about the cabana. Our experience in January was that they had held cabana 1, which is the only accessible one, in case someone needed it. We put our name on the list, but only late on the evening before we docked at CC (when no one else specifically requested an accessible cabana) did they release it to us. If you go to Guest Services (not the excursions desk - because it is the accessible cabana it is handled by GS) as soon as you board, you will probably have a good chance at getting it. Having said that, if there are other shady options, as dizzi mentioned, I would skip the cabana. The price was astronomical and the service was deplorable. I would hate for your family's experience on CC to be anything less than wonderful.

2) Another great option for a super-cute FE is Etsy. We had ours made by Jen (her Etsy shop is called Stitches n Bows) and it is adorable! Plus, we had it in about two weeks.

Hi Beth! Did you get in touch with Bernard? My DD will be so excited to have another kid to hang out with that day, especially on the beach! I am going to bring along some beach toys for them to play with.
