FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

We know lots of Heberts!

I found these directions from someone on Dis. Maybe this is the post you are talking about too?

a great shortcut to Disney and 192W in Kissimmee. If you are travelling from the north, driving on the Florida Turnpike, you will come to a new toll way when you almost reach I-4. It is 429 that was just opened and it skirts the top of Disney property. There is a Disney dedicated exit that lets you out on Western Way that intersects with Buena Vista Blvd, which is a main artery through Disney property. If you want to go to Animal Kingdom or the Lodge, just turn right and you are about 3/4 of a mile away. If you want to go to Downtown Disney, the Swan, Dolphin or any other resort, turn left. This allows you to miss all of the traffic on I-4 that can be extremely congested and makes the wait to get to Disney even longer! If you stay at any of the resorts off of Disney property that are on the west of I-4 off of 192, this is a great way to get there, too. It intersects 192 about a mile east of Orange County Lake Resort. If you go to the left, you will find the Westgate resorts. We noticed the construction of the road last year and were thrilled that it was opened this year. It has not been discovered by many as of yet; we counted only nine cars from the Turnpike to the Disney exit!

We took this road when we left WDW las February and it was perfect, no cars around at all, you miss all Orlando traffic!

I just received my 1st ever 40% off code! It is not valid for our Feb dates, though. I usually cannot do any of the dates listed (I'm a teacher), but this year my school is not starting until the last week of August. The pin code is good Aug 10- end of Sept., so technically- I could go!!!! However, DH said NO WAY! b/c we are going in 3 weeks & then going on the Disney cruise in Nov.

I'm thinking about booking a room for 4-5 nights and "surprising" him. What do you think? :rotfl:

He is as big of a Disney freak as I am, and if I am able to get a room at a value for 40% off, and we don't do the dining plan....it will be really cheap! Plus, I won 2 free nights at a Holiday Inn anywhere, along with $30 in gas and $30 to Outback, so we could stop close to the beach on the way home and extend our vacation by 2 nights.

Help me!

Thanks Floss..I appreciate your input. I remember seeing that whoever did post that info. said the same thing..not alot of traffic at all.

Thanks DisneyMom for finding it. I will definetly see if it will be beneficial to me. I told a friend about it for her Sept. trip but she was hesitiant to try it.
BTW, her entire name is Mary Hebert. She now lives up near pleasant hill/toledo bend.

:yay: Our final documents came in yesterday..grandma signed for them so I just got them. Yah...Now it seems even more real.

Anyone have a Garmin GPS...it isn't picking up the address for our hotel...:headache: I am not sure why.

Did you guys see this http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20080112/sc_space/nasasetsfeb7launchdateforshuttleatlantis . There will be a shuttle launch on February 7th. Do any of you know how far we have to drive to see that

You just need to look up!!!! LOL Obviously, you can't see the actual launch, but you can see the shuttle. We've seen it numerous times from the MK, it goes right over the castle. I mean, it's up REALLY high, it's not right above the castle, but it's easy to see though. We actually have video of Columbia when it was going over the castle.

We've never been to an actual launch, so maybe someone else knows how far it is if you wanted to see the take off.

I changed a ton of my ADRs yesterday with no trouble at all for a party of 5. Had my choice of times too, including HDDR and a couple of character meals. I've read so much about the resorts being sold out, but since it was SO easy to get the new ADRs I don't think the parks will be too crowded.

Wendypooh, that's great! We will probably see you at CM too as we're staying at the CR. Eating early and then hopefully watching Dallas in the Superbowl that night! Are you using your credits for HDDR? We are, and they said we'd be Tier 2 (but I may request the balcony when we get there which is Tier 3).

What time do you arrive at MCO? Our flight (Delta) gets in around 11:50am and we are using ME.

Hey, we are using our DDP credits. They told me we were level 3, they said 2was avail. but it was on the floor to the sides or something, I don't know - this is our first time doing Hoop.. but I asked if 3 (balcony) would be better and they said (in thier opinion, while you can see from everywhere, being up there would be better???) I hope so. Just so long as DS can see the show - all is good!!

Also, we are driving - we actually are leaving Thurs. after school. My aunt lives in Daytona, so we will drive to her house, visit with her on Fri. then head to AKL on Sat. early!!! It's only about an hour from her house!! Look at our tickers - we are getting there!!!! :woohoo:

I'll be on the look out for you! I'm going to try to make me some of your very cool LGMH's to tie to my stuff so look for me too! :thumbsup2

Oh and we'll also both be at Pop at the same time until you leave that is.

Since we will be at AK the same day as our P&P party, how do we get from AK to MK? Will a bus go directly or will we have to go to our resort or the T&T center and switch busses?

I don't know if there is one direct from AK to MK. If not, I'd take the one to the GF and then ride the monorail. We'll be at the AK that day too, but we'll head back to the CR first to change into costumes and then head over to the MK.
