FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Lori, Your trip plans look like so much fun!!!! Wish we were going in Feb. and didn't have to wait until May. We've been lucky enough to see 2 shuttle launches from WDW. You can see it from the 7 Seas Lagoon as it comes up over the Contemporary Resort. The first was at dusk, which was really cool when it lit up the sky. This past June we saw one again from the boat dock area at the MK. An announcement was made over the P.A., and they even stopped the monorail to watch. I've heard that if you go over to the Space Coast, the traffic is very heavy, and the launches sometimes get scrapped at the very last minute. Whatever you do, have a blast!!!!

We'll be in Tampa for a weekend in Feb. We thought about driving to WDW but our schedule is really tight this time. Thankfully,May will be here before we know it!

I did a Dis search and found a great website about the launches and where to go. I think we'll be seeing it from Disney....traffic doesn't sound good to me on a vacation, esp DURING a vacation....

So I made changes again on Friday. I cancelled our HDDR and it was for the same night as a couple of you guys!

Heres our plan , the only change I can see is maybe taking a day trip down to Kennedy Space Center on the 7Th. Working on that today.


Jan. 30 - Arrive MCO 4:15. Kids Swim (hopefully!) Dinner DTD Rainforest
Jan 31 - Epcot, going to try a walk up at Garden Grill or ESPN
Feb. 1 - Magic Kingdom - Chef Mickeys 10:50
Feb 2 - Animal Kingdom - 1900 Park Fare after the Mini-Meet
Feb. 3 - MGM - Hollywood N Vine Fantasmic Package 4:20
Feb. 4 - Possible Typhoon Lagoon - World Showcase Evening. DTD Late Dinner
Feb 5 - CP Breakfast 10:30 , Break and P & P Party If we go to Kennedy on
the 7th we'll hit AK for a while in the morning.
Feb 6 - Typhoon Lagoon or Disney Quest Planet Hollywood Dinner. If we go
to Kennedy this will be spent at MK
Feb. 7 - Animal Kingdom OHana Dinner 7:55 - or - Kennedy Space
Feb 8 - MGM - 50s PTT 4:00

Attention all you Mardi Gras travelers! Did you realize that Feb 3rd is Superbowl Sunday? We didn't make the connection until this weekend and DH is NOT thrilled about it! We are going with another family. The two guys said that they are going to spend the entire day in ESPN sports zone! Eeeek!

We have AP's but the family we're going with doesn't! She is going to be so mad at spending a park hopper day on her DH who won't even use it that day!

Maybe they will change their minds once they get there - but it's not looking good at the moment! DH is a Brett Favre fan and at this point I'm just hoping Green Bay doesn't make it - then DH might not care as much! (I'm terrible - I know!)

Do you think the parks will be less crowded that Sunday because of the Superbowl?

Thanks for the link Lori. I am really thinking about getting a tour to Kennedy. It's $115 adults and $99 for the kids. If they scrap the launch we will still be able to visit Kennedy for the day. DS is a huge science (mostly space) geek so he would flip out. I am not telling them though, I'd hate for them to be disappointed. I don't mind the traffic, my 8 mile commute home everyday takes me 45 minutes on a good day!

I have decided against it. I called and spoke with a guy. The tour would cost $300+ for us three. If the launch is scrapped that day we lose our money and come right back, we DO NOT stay and visit the space center. I am going to decide in a few days if we will just take a one day tour on the 6Th since it is our off day anyways. Maybe take the tour at Kennedy that takes you by the launch pad and we can see the Atlantis. I'll decide on once we are in Florida

Since we will be at AK the same day as our P&P party, how do we get from AK to MK? Will a bus go directly or will we have to go to our resort or the T&T center and switch busses?

The official route would be to take the bus to the TTC and then get on the monorail or take the ferry.

However, you can also take the bus to the Contemporary and walk from there. The walk is not far at all, about 5 minutes.

You can also take the bus to any other Resort and change there. It might be a nice break to do a bit exploring at a resort.

I don't know if there is one direct from AK to MK. If not, I'd take the one to the GF and then ride the monorail. We'll be at the AK that day too, but we'll head back to the CR first to change into costumes and then head over to the MK.

This thing about no Wishes on PPP nights is totally throwing my schedule. I had planned to see it those two PPP nights (2(2 and 2/5) and it is my favourite fireworks show!! So now I have to reschedule ADRs (horror!) and park days and all my plans don't work any longer. I think I will not be at MK for the meet. We have an ADR at Cali Grill at 8:30 to see the PPP party fireworks from there and had planned to be in the MK before and see Wishes and then get slowly over there, maybe take a tour on the Monorail. Now there really is no point in going to the MK before as we will spend other evenings there.... I am so glad that we don't have the dining plan, so I don't have to use up x number of credits.

I am really sorry to miss you! Perhaps we will still bump into each other at the Parks or the Lodge (I am really hoping to see you there Wendypooh!)

Hey all, I worked so much and so hard this weekend that I am worth nothin' today...

I always have trouble getting into a good school week after a rough weekend. Seems like everyone is sick.... praying we all keep well.

PLUS I am having a hard time concentrating today. I am just so ready for this trip that when all the ducks are in a row, and we are pulling from our driveway to go, it will seem surreal. We have talked so much for a year about this with some of you and WOW, it's almost here. Yikes, I almost feel depressed . Maybe it is more b/c it is cold today, my DH is gone, we didn't have a great school day(although we did do our Mexico theme today!!!) AND i have my DD8's friend and her mom coming over tomorrow. My house is so-so.

We are eating at Boma's on 2/4 at 5:30. We love this resort. It is absolutely beautiful, just like the WL which is where we will be staying.

We have 19 days-or maybe 18 now!! Leaving about 9 or 10am Thursday morning, going to see the USS Alabam battle ship in Mobile, then heading to Tallahassee, the on to Disney on Friday...
