FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Hi all! Just joining in on the thread. I am waiting and waiting and waiting for 2008 rates to come out so I can book. I like to book the entire package at once. I seem to run into less booking problems that way. Anyway, we are probably going Feb 9-15th. CAN'T WAIT!!! We just went this past Feb. pretty much the same week (10-16th). We had a blast. DH and I have not taken a vacation in 10 years prior. We were way overdue. It was DS's very first trip and just seeing his little face light up when he saw Mickey and the Castle has us hooked for life!;)

Hey, We have never been in Jan or Feb before. What is the crowds like and how long are the lines? Whats the weather like? My kids are twins that will be 11 and my daughters 13th birthday while we are there. :cool1:

The week we went was nice. The weather was cool but in a nice way. It did get cold our last night there and I think that continued through Presidents Day weekend. We left right before that weekend so our week wasn't as crazy as everyone says Presidents Day week is. But it wasn't as quiet as some people say the weeks before ours was either. Overall, it was not SUPER busy. We have a toddler and were able to ride rides with not much of a wait. I hope it will be nice like that next year too. We like to move at a slow pace since we have a little one. I keep reading that the best "quiet" time to go is late Jan/early Feb. We would have loved to try one of those weeks but DH can't get off.

It appears that many from our great state of Louisiana will be over at the World the first week of Feb. We plan on being there..but were waiting on AAA rates that are supposed to come out in August. I sure hope it isn't too late to book. Any thoughts on that..I wouldn't think that all of the resorts are going to be booked at this time..I hope not. I do appreciate the post by someone earlier..about the 180 day mark. It made me realize how close Feb. is. I can't wait..and I too am worse than my children. :yay:

I'm sure during presidents week it will be more crowded and prices will be higher. I did talk to a cm and they said as long as you check in under value season and the next day is peek season, you are supposed to get the value season rate. I hope that is true. The only thing I worry about is keeping them out of school. I guess the way I look at it, is they are my children and as long as they make up the work, then that's ok. I just don't want it to be too cold. A few years ago, we got a postcard for value resort for $$$59, boy I would love to get one of those again. What do you think about keeping kids out of school? ( we have a policy --3 days with parent excuse --I think, but my kids have never missed alot of days- maybe 1-3 all school year and we go to school 180 days.) Thanks Ellen:thumbsup2

I thought one of the rumors was that if you check in during 08 during value season but some of stay is during peak you will now be charged for part of the peak season. I guess we'll need to watch that for our trip also.

We also take our children out of school for one I just can't stand being in DW when it's hot and busy and my children are not having any fun. And second we make it educational on the way down to DW. Since we are in the public school system we just make sure it's not during major tests or the end of grading periods.

Have fun :yay:

me and my husband both work for the school system. Some teachers are ok with it, but then sometimes you get some that are ugly and give the kids a hard time. Last year we took the kids out 2 days before spring break started , which was March 29th 2007 and their teachers were very nice about it. It was so crowded we could not even walk. Hot about 89 to 91 everyday. Thats why we are looking forward to going Jan 31st to Feb 5th. We stayed 7 nights, so this time we are staying 5 nights because we don't want to keep the kids out of school no more than 3 days. ( we have a 9 hour drive) we can't wait for the cooler weather and no lines. I hope there will be almost no lines.:woohoo:

We were there this past March also but went the 15th-21st. We had no trouble w/ lines and our weather was low 70's. It's crazy how a few weeks makes a difference. We also are TGM-ers and I think that really helped us with lines and tips w/ our dining. Even though it worked out great we are thinking of going earlier to catch the value season. I can't make up my mind

This is only true for Resort only reservations. As of now, they haven't changed it for the package rates.:thumbsup2

Does anyone know what Disney may do or be able to do for a birthday while you are staying on property? My daughter will be 13 while we will be there on Feb 2nd 2008.:wizard:

I went to google and put in UK Disney Rates and the rates did come up for the UK. I don't understand their price, but they have that UK dollar sign and 52 and for moderate 74 and their dollar sign. Could someone please try to find this website and explain what their pricing is and maybe it will help us to figure what our rates may be for 2008. Seems like to me they get very good deals on everything when it comes to Disney. Let me know. Thanks:)

I saw this the other night too. It would be close to impossible to figure out an exact quote from there. They get good discounts, but I'm pretty sure that we get discounts to go to Disney resorts in other countries as well.

Anyway, I got a quote from the UK site then googled a conversion calculator and the price was about $500 difference from what I'm pretty sure our trip will cost. You can try it, but I wouldn't take what you get to heart. Guess we just have to keep on waiting and watching.popcorn::

check out post #142 on this thread for specail occasion ideas!!
Happy Sunday-Lori

 just decided....we're going the week of Mardi Gras. I hope we don't regret it due to the crowd level. :confused3

I just booked our next WDW vacation yesterday!!!!! We'll be at Pop from 2/9-2/16. We were there this year also. We left the day the crowds started getting bigger which was Friday of President's Day weekend. We loved the weather and crowds. I'm hoping we have the same luck next year. I can't wait. Now I'm hoping the DH and DS9 will be as happy as me. I'm sure I won't have a problem with the DS9 but one never knows about the DH. Here's hoping February gets here soon.

That's the week we are most probably going!:) We will be staying at OKW again. We went there this year and are hooked now. Very spacious!

I'm starting to wonder if I should make the hotel reservations now or just wait for the packages. The hotels filled up REALLY fast last year because of conventions, cheerleading, etc. We were supposed to stay at AKL but everytime I checked on our reservations it seemed like we were getting bumped down. We started with a deluxe pool view and toward the end when I called to add an extra night, they had me down for a standard parking view. UMMMM, NO!!! (plus, they were booked and had no room for us to add an extra night) So, I stayed on the computer for almost a week straight checking for ANY resort who had openings for that week plus the extra day. Finally a standard room at OKW popped up so I called reservations immediately and they helped me switch it over. The really good thing that happened was that when we got there, they said that the standard rooms were so overbooked that we got a FREE UPGRADE to a 1 bedroom villa!! This room is why we are so hooked on OKW. MAJOR room to spread out, and very needed with a toddler.

We changed our ressies to POP(from ASMovies)!!! I am so excited. Going Feb 1-10. Since we are going in cheerleading season (the beginning) and I like that they don't allow groups! I was happy to hear from the CM that we had 5 rooms booked for our Grand Gathering. I only KNEW about 4 of them- us, my brothers family and his MIL and SIL, and my cousin's family. The 5th party may be my aunt and uncle, not sure. We are hoping that we have 2 more rooms booked by the time we go.

Cannot wait to BOOK something on August 5th!

Hi....just looking where to even start searching for codes and historically how sweet are the deals?

We have never stayed at a Disney resort before. We are looking a two nights in early Feb and would love to stay in a moderate or deluxe.

Thanx.....
