Ok, so I have never rented a car before  , so bear with me.

Are any of the special codes out now good for February? Are they ongoing?

It will be me, DH and our 5yo son, so we don't need anything big. Also, what companies won't charge us extra for allowing both DH and I to drive (additional driver)?

Anyone book for Feb. yet? What do you have for a rate?

Haven't seen many deals into 2008. Try different carriers and see what you find. You won't need a credit card to make a reservation so it doesn't hurt to try to get the best deal now and keep your eyes out for deals later. Look at Mousesavers for all sorts of codes ets.

If you are traveling President's Week....seriously....book now. Find something you can live with and book it. It is also Daytona Week in central Florida. You won't find many if any deals for this week. Like flights, it is one of the most expensive times to rent a car. If you wait too long, the car companies will be out of cars to rent. Book something and then shop around. At least you'll have something.

Since I don't know what/who is good for a car rental, does this look ok, considering it includes President's Day Weekend/Daytona 500 weekend? This seems to be the best I can find. 2/8/08 - 2/19/08

Budget car rental
Intermediate
car 258.29
taxes and fees
one-way fee 0.00
airport concession fee
taxes 18.63
fees 28.27

total 330.50

11 days 0 hour rental

unlimited free miles

And I believe Budget does not charge an additional driver fee for a spouse, correct? I am pulling my hair out :sad2: with all this rental car information, and all the codes, etc.

I am at work now looking for airdeals and saw your post. I don't have time to research right now, but I can tell you that you can do much better. Go to Mousesavers.com She will recommend that you sign up for National Emerald Club, With Emerald club memebership you get a free driver for a spouse. Also Emerald Club members can just reserve a car, go to the emerald club lot pick out a car and leave, no lines. A huge bonus!!!!!!!! Now as far as price, you can do a lot better than that for a price, I guarentee it. I would estimate maybe $200 total. We paid $144 for 8 days back in April. I recommend trying National and even Dollar, be sure to use the Mousesaver codes. I use the Walmart discount codes a lot and save 20%. I am busy at work right now, but I play with your dates later. You will probably find a better deal in the fall, but I always feel better holding onto a confirmation and rebooking if I see a better deal.

Thanks for your advice & help. I already tried the Orlando Magic Card on one of the companies listed, and it didn't work, they said it might be blacked out for my dates, since my stay includes Pres. Day wknd & Daytona 500. Should this affect the codes? I also did use some of the mousesavers.com codes and unless I am doing it wrong, that's the best I come up with so far.... :confused3 I will definitely keep checking though.

Opps, I guess I missed the fact that you were looking at Presidents week. The codes could be blacked out and prices are higher for that week. In that case you might be looking in the $300 range. Did you try Alamo? They sometimes have lower rates.

I was just playing around with my rental dates because I was trying to add Fastbreak to my current Budget rental, couldn't figure out how to do it, so I made a new reservation and came up way better!

my confirmed rate
car 204.15
taxes and fees
airport concession fee 20.01
taxes 15.11
fees 28.27

total 267.54

11 day 0 hour rental
unlimited free miles

Saved myself over $60. This is without any codes. Actually, when I tried with one of the Walmart codes on Mousesavers, my rate actually went up :confused3 Don't know why that would be, but I am happy that I am under $300. :cool1:
