February 20, 2011 DREAM

I am just back from a long trip to WDW and Universal...I am now ready to focus on this cruise! I still haven't told the kids...I don't know how i am going to do it, but I am hoping to wait until Christmas...any ideas anyone?

don't know how old your kids are, but maybe you can write up different types of clues and have a kind of guessing game or maybe for christmas you can try to find a picture of a Disney ship and put it in a box for them to open

They are teen/tweens. I picked up some DCL pins at WDW for them...I also have thought about going with the DREAM theme and getting crafty and making a pillowcase/pillow with a picture of the ship on it and the cruise date and stuff on it, wrapping it up and giving it to them as a gift. That may be way to crafty for me but I might give it a try. What do you think?

that's a good idea too, I'm sure whatever you do they'll love it

I hope so. I am shocked that I have been able to keep a secret this long...it hasn't been easy! I just want it to be an OMG moment for them...I hope it's good!

I am also trying to figure out what to do in the few days after the cruise before I have to get back to work. I could spend 2 days at WDW or near the port, or somewhere between the port and NY. Decisions, Decisions!!!! I can't imagine being so close to WDW without going there...what is everyone else doing?

we are planning on staying after the cruise at BLT. We know it is going to be mobbed from the attendance history but figure it will still be fun. Good luck with the decisions. I am glad we are almost done planning.

The more I think about it, the more I know that I have to go to WDW after the cruise, even if it is just for 2 nights! :cool1: Just need to pick a resort!

We are doing WDW pre-cruise. 5 night stay at the Poly. Considering doing a 1 night post cruise at Universal. Still trying to figure out transportation. Rental car or Disney transport???

What is everyone planing for the Nassau stop? We did Atlantis a few years ago using the Comfort Suites hotel deal but looking at the rates this year for 5 of us :sad1: @$600 or so eek

We are doing the Atlantis/Comfort Suites deal. How did that work out for you? I am a little bit nervous about messing up the timing and the ship leaving without us...I worry too much! At the rate of $600, you may as well just book it through DCL - not much more expensive, is it?

We don't know what we are doing in Nassau yet. I am thinking the beach trip to blackbeards beach I think that was what it was called they have boats to rent, beaches, food and bathrooms. Our friend just got back and said you need to plan something there. She did not and wished she did. We looked into Atlantis but almost as much as our trip. Ps anyone who Lauren was emailing for cruise pals I erased everyone's email by error so please let the kids know so they can email her againpirate:http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/pirate.gif

we aren't planning anything for the Nassau stop, this cruise and the cruise before it since it will be a back-2-back is to see the new ship. Maybe one of the days I'll get off in Nassau, but other then that won't be doing anything

We are staying at the Beach Club post cruise for 3 nights. As for Nassau, I am going to try to book the Blue Lagoon dolphin swim. Now that the summer is just about over, the cruise feels much closer. I hope everyone had a great summer, back to school next week.:cool1:

I was just playing around on the disney cruiseline site and it looks to me that this cruise is almost sold out! It appears that there are no more rooms for a family of four but there are some choices for families of 2 or 3. Wow...I can't believe that it is this close! I can't wait!:cool1:

My friend tried to join us all and all she could get was Category 4 so she booked the three day after us.

Hi to all aren't you getting so excited?!!!

The kids are back in school so I have time to think about the cruise. We are doing 3 nights at BLT prior and 3 nights at Kidani afterwards!!!!!! We had to do 3 nights prior d/t cheaper flight - oh darn!

I finally booked our flights although I think they might still come down but who knows and I don't want DH to back out d/t flights being too expensive - LOL.

I booked SOuthwest and have never flown them before. SO i am nervous about how they work. Anyone know?

We fly SWA all the time and love them!!!:goodvibes You can check in for your boarding #/letter exactly 24 hours prior to the flight (you've got to be pretty quick for A boarding) or for an extra $10 pp/one way you can have SWA check you in it is called early bird check-in and depending on how many people have purchased you'll probably get A or B which will at least allow your whole family to sit near/together. Are you flying out of Manchester or Logan? If you have any other ??? ask away:)

Thanks for the info. I hope this works for us. One of my boys is nervous about flying and usually HAS to sit with me. So I think I'll do the "early bird" check in. We are flying out of Logan - its only about 15 minutes from our house and I never seem to get a cheaper rate out of Manchester or Providence so it doesn't make sense to fly out of those airports. We are usually Jetblue flyers but $800 cheaper sold me on SW - LOL. I hope it works out.

Hope everyone is doing great. In Las Vegas right now for hardware convention, so haven't been posting. Since dad is doing work I am posting from my Droid. I can't wait for this cruise, being away from home makes me want to go on a cruise even more.
But hope you are all doing great.
