FEBRUARY 14, 2009 (very early roll-call!)

Just joing this group late so if I am asking repetitive questions sorry:confused3 Does anyone have any advise on some of the excursions on the Island of St john or St martin?

Hi & Welcome!!!

You can bring liquor, but it must be conceled. My advice to you is to call your local libarary, & order Passporter 2008

I did this, & have been reading up on it, it will tell you everything you need to know & more about our cruise. It will even tell you how & the costs to the the beaches if you don't want to use Disney.

Does anyone else find themselves getting excited when the "Digital TV deadline" TV spots come on???

'Cause when the TV signal switches over WE will be somewhere in the warm, warm CARIBBEAN!

just to clarify on the gift exchange, i would like to be considered as a separate group. it is my dd8 and myself. Friends of ours will be in two other cabins and I know that they want to be considered separately also. So we are a group of nine, but 3 separate cabins. I plan on having gifts for all cabins who signed up/ we are also in different categories on the ship.

I keep thinking that, too! A couple of our TV's won't work when we return because they are not digital and we do not have converter boxes!

NOTE: if a group has more than one cabin, only required to give 1 gift for the entire group. However, if you want to give gifts for each cabin, please let grizbuzz know, so I can assign dates for gift distribution accordingly.

My cabin and my DSIL's cabin will each be giving gifts.

Here's the updated info I have on the gift exchange.

GIFT EXCHANGE LIST:

12. chrissyt27 (One cabin: me, DH)
13. Daleh (me, DH -- 40th anniversary!)

HOW IT WORKS:
1. Participants will get small gift for each cabin signed up (not including your own cabin). So as of now, each participant will bring 17 gifts.
2. Each group listed above will be giving gifts. In some cases there is more than one cabin listed per group. Every cabin listed will get gifts, but only the 12 groups above will be giving gifts. We've made the decision that it is OK if your group is getting more gifts than you are giving. If you have a large group, it is up to you how many cabins you want to give gifts. I'm assuming that you will only be giving one gift per group, unless you let me know otherwise.
3. STARTING NOW, as soon as you know your cabin number(s), PM grizbuzz
4. grizbuzz will write up a gift exchange list to distribute at our DISMeet (tentatively scheduled for Day 2 at 1pm, location TBD) with a list of cabins to deliver gifts to, as well as your assigned day to deliver the gifts. If you have a preference for which day you do or do not want to distribute gifts, PM grizbuzz.
5. Fish extenders not required, though if you want to make/bring one, by all means do!

Daleh--Do you want me to include you on this list?
And anyone else, there is still time to participate!

Everyone- PM me your cabin number9s) if you know it/them. Please let me know if you have any changes, questions, corrections.

Thanks!
Jen

Boy grizbuz, your sure working hard. Hope the gang buys you a lot's of Bahama Mamas.

I think our ship is pretty much filled up. Not many rooms are left.

Grizbuzz Yes include Hubby and I in we are definantly in. Hope you'all can help green peas figure out what is going on

does any one know much about the scuba diving? As I am not a very good swimmer I am a little concerned about trying to do this, but I would love to try. Is there a beginners group or do you need to be a good swimmer

YIPEE:cheer2: :cheer2:

It is getting sooooo close now. I 'finished' all of my gifts last night! We are heading to WDW in 30 days! (leaving on the 12th) We are spending 2 nights at OKW. My DSIL is staying at the MCO Hyatt the night before.

I am spending this upcoming weekend finalizing our wardrobe. I need to do "fashion show" with the girls princess: princess: (trying on clothes, making sure they fit and limiting the number of outfits!!) I usually iron everything before we leave and pack in ziplock baggies. It works wonderfully. (best DIS tip ever!!:thumbsup2 ) they don't get too wrinkled, everything is together and it something happens to leak in your suitcase, the clothes are protected.
I am usually up very late the night before vacation, but this time (and I say this every time) I am going to be packed early and relax the night before and the following morning. Our flight is at 11 am, so we can take our time in the morning.

Who will be at the 'World' and who will be at the Hyatt?

We are staying at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek from the 10th to 14th, then Cruise and returning to Bonnet Creek from the 21st to the 25th

Hubby retired this year, and as we are Wyndham owners and season passholders, vacation is great. We were at WDW from Sept 18th till Oct 5th with Son and family then There from Nov 26th till Dec 5th with daughter and t4 yr old twins. My family thinks we are nuts. But we love Disney. this will be our 43rd trip.

that is awesome. We just missed you. We went down there Dec 6th-10th.
We are DVC members, but we don't go enough to purchase an annual pass. My kids are just starting out in school, so we will not be vacationing as often. Higher airline ticket prices and crowds during school vacations is a drag. We have been spoiled by visiting the world during slower times. This past December was probably the slowest I have ever encountered.

What excursions do you all plan to do?
We just signed up for 3.
Under 2 Flags Island Tour at St Maarten
Snorkel Lagoon Equipment Rental at Castaway Cay
Skyride to Paradise Point at St Thomas

I am super excited!! Not much longer and we will be on the boat. It’s snowing here today and it makes me want to be there more. I think I will work on packing this weekend. I always take too much, so hope to get that started so I can really think what I need.
I also just scored 30 Camp Rock/Jonas Brothers magnets to add to the goody bags for everyone!! I had thought they were all gone, but found some left in the closet. I hope it’s okay that I am just getting kid stuff, tattoos, stickers, and magnets. I am trying to have enough for each kid, so 30ish of each thing. I still have to find bags or something to keep everything in.
I am so ready to go. I just requested the time off and it was approved. (I knew it would be) but yeah for one more thing done.
Now need to work on excursions. DH wants to scuba diver, he is certified, but don’t even know where to start with that. I would be happy just staying on the ship all week, but that’s what we did last time, with just quick trips off the boat.
So excited to see everyone! Did we decide on a meeting place for Tuesday yet?

Packing already??! Seriously??? I still need to lose 30 pounds! :rotfl2: AND the part is still on order for my elliptical machine, so I will not be trying on clothes until I am running out the door for vacation! :scared1:

Ooh, good idea on the Ziploc bag thing! Does anyone use Spacebags? Kelly Rippa always says how great they are, so I picked up some Target-brand ones today. Any suggestions? I plan on mixing and matching (i.e. "re-using") outfit pieces, so I don't think each outfit in individual baggies would work for us. I think somebody on the "best tips" thread mentioned that one.

I, too, am NEVER ready until the last possible nanosecond, despite spending WAAAAY too much time planning (DISboards, PP, etc.!), sorting, listing, packing & repacking. Wish I could even HOPE this time will be different, but I know it won't. :laundy:

We leave on Feb. 10th and will be at the Embassy Suites LBV until the 14th. We will be at the World W, Th, Fr. I haven't made one dinner ressie or anything this time! Totally winging it there. Might be liberating for "Super Planner" me!
