February 13, 2011 - 7 Night Mexican Riviera Sailing on the Wonder

I just went to the Disney web site to enter my arrival time to the dock and it is "locked":confused3. Weird, maybe we will have to wait since this is our first cruise. We arrive at a certain time and I hope we will not be waiting because I couldn't get our specific time.

Mine was too.
I had to enter the Guest Information first and go through each box and they opened on at a time so it did unlock

Hi gang!

Just checking in with more questions.

I was finally able to snag a Palo dinner reservation for night 6 & 7 @ 6:30pm.

I don't want to do night 6 since it is supposed to be Semi Formal Night with Lobster, so I am thinking of night 7.

Do you think it is ok to miss the last night in the main dining room? Anything special?

What about the "Remember the Magic" show. It is @ 8:30pm so I'm not sure if we'll make it with a 6:30pm Palo reservation. Should we try to get an earlier reservation to see the show?

Will the Kids Club take the kids to the show?

Thanks!

I agree with your thinking on having the Palo Dinner on Night 7 so you don't miss Semi-Formal Night in one of the main restaurants - Formal and Semi-Formal nights are always my favorite nights in the main restaurants. However, if I remember correctly from prior cruises the wait staff do some sort of farewell presentation/parade on the last night in the main restaurants and the Chef comes out and introduces himself/herself so you will miss that. Also, alot of people present their tip envelopes to the wait staff on the last night of dining if they don't intend to do the "sit-down" breakfast the next morning before leaving the ship. Don't know if that will apply to you or not. I don't think 2 hours is enough time to do dinner in Palo. When my DH and I ate there 2 years ago it took 2 1/2 to 3 hours so if you want to be sure you can make the "Remember the Magic" show, I would suggest that you make the reservation earlier if you can. No matter what night you eat at Palo you are likely to miss somethng. My DH and I have 8:30 p.m. Palo reservations on Day 4 which is Pirate Night so we will miss the Pirate Night Menu in the main restaurants and probably miss part of the "Pirates in the Caribbean" Deck Party. I just hope we get out in time to see the fireworks - that is what I really love to see each cruise. I can't answer your question regarding whether the Kids Club will take kids to the show since I have not traveled with my daughters before (their 1st cruise with us is this November:yay:).

Thanks PurpleJewel! Good info.
What do you think about the Remember the Magic show?
Is it great, worth skipping Palo to see the show?

On another note, the weather looks great on the 10 day forecast for PV and Cabo, high 70's !! Let's hope it holds or gets even warmer:cool2:
Thanks again!

I always enjoy the "Remember the Magic" show but, then again, I love all of the shows:laughing: The Disney Dreams Show is my favorite. If you can't change your time for Palo, I would not miss out on a dinner there just to see the last show though. If you have never dined at Palo before, it is a very relaxing, intimate meal and I always look forward to it. Your Palo dinner will be over in time for you to get to the Lobby Atrium to see the characters and some of the stage show performers for "Till We Meet Again" which is at 10:00 p.m. I 'm also glad about the warm forcast temperatures for PV and Cabo; however, I heard that the water in Cabo is always cold:eek: and I hope I'm not shivering when I'm in the water playing with the dolphins during the Dolphin Encounter my DH and I are doing. So far, there are no MAJOR storms coming my way so maybe I won't have to freak out about weather delaying my plane. If you have anymore question, just let me know.

I feel so bad for all the people that have been affected by these terrible storms. Glad to hear that you may get a reprieve for a while.

I am 2nd guessing the Palo dinner, we have brunch booked for Day 5, maybe brunch is enough? I read a trip review that really raved about dinner in the dining room the last night.

Still undecided, but if I decide to cancel it, does anyone want Night 6 or 7 @6:30pm at Palo? I would try to coordinate the release so someone could try to book it.

When we swam with the dolphins in Bahamas they told us the water was cold and encouraged us to wear wetsuits. We did and the water felt beautiful. I bet they will have wet suits in Cabo as well :) We loved the dolphin swim.

What do you think you will miss if you go to Palo on semi-formal night. I suspect you could ask for lobster at Palo? We have only done a 4 night so I can't help with this one. We have resies for night 2 valentines day:love:

Hello everyone,

Just looking to see if there is an updated fish extender list with names on them or did we decide not to do that. Also, I thought I saw a post about a meet and greet, has the been confirmed.

Lastly, anyone looking to dump any of there palo nights, I am here to help. I would eat there every night if I could.

Shawn

I'm going to give up our Palo Dinner res for Day 3 (Cabo day and Formal nite) at 8pm. I plan on going on the DCL website tomorrow nite (Friday the 4th) around 8:45pm Central to do so if anyone wants to try to grab it.

We're keeping our Valentine's day brunch res, though! :lovestruc Can anyone tell me about how much time to allow for brunch at Palo??

There has been no confirmation for the DIS Meet and Greet. I was waiting until I could check our Navigators from the 1st MR Cruise to see what time would be good on the 1st day before making a suggestion. I have seen the navigators now and it appears that nothing much is going on around the ship on the 1st day around 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Most people have boarded, eaten lunch, and settled into their cabins. The mandatory boat drill starts at 3:30 p.m. Perhaps 3:00 p.m. in Diversions would be a good time and place. Diversions is usually empty at that time on the 1st day. After getting a consensus, we could confirm that as the time and place. However, I understand if people get busy and choose not to show up. Heck, anything can happen and I can't even guarantee I would make it, although I will try. I am not traveling with kids but if I were I bet they would want to be at the pools the first afternoon and some parents will be unable to leave them to make the Meet and Greet. Let's see what other DISers think of the suggestion, OK?

On another note, since our Formal Night is Night #3 and the Navigators from the 1st MR Cruise show that they had Formal Night on Night #2 even though their itineraries were identical to ours, I was wondering if the Golden Mickeys will be moved to Night #3 or will it stay on Night #2? It makes since to move it to Formal Night because that is the night that they have the captain's Welcome Reception in the Lobby, opportunities to get your picture taken with the captain and Mickey and Minnie are dressed in Formal Wear for photo opportunities. I called and spoke with a CM but they could only confirm that Formal Night was definitely Night #3; they could not tell me if the Golden Mickeys would be scheduled that night. They did confirm that one of the movies they will be showing on this cruise will be the newly released "Gnomeo and Juliet" and they will be premiering "I Am Number Four" on Night #6. Other than those two they could not confirm any other movies, except TRON 3D that will definitely be playing on our cruise, although the CM told me that she expects the following to probably be playing: Tangled 3D, Secretariat and Prince of Persia. I asked if they had selected the dining rotation for my party yet and she said that they don't make the dining rotation schedules until a day or two before the ship sails so I would have to wait and see what the tickets left in my stateroom show is my dining rotation. I really hope I get Triton's for Formal Night since of all 3 main restaurants, that one is the most elegant.

Anybody else getting SUPER excited? I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Pam that was some awesome fact finding!:cheer2:

:thanks:

I have cold Canadian children that always want to be in the pools :rotfl::rotfl:
I will try to attend a meet though as I want to confirm FE rooms and would like to meet everyone.

Do you think that anything special is planned for valentines day? I wonder if that is why the slight differences in itineraries/formal night Maybe Mickey/Mininie have Valentines attire and formal attire?

Thanks for all the planing and info! The excitement level in my house is at an all time high:thumbsup2

I have some of the names but not all, hopefully I can update what I have the tonight and then send out a link to it.

I'm excited, Pam!

We have ten foot high snow mountains all around our street, glaciers in the cul de sac nearby, and we are so ready to get out of town somewhere more hospitable!

Checked the 10 day forecast for Cabo and PV...for as much as forecasts can be believed, it looks like sunny days with highs in the upper 70's and lows in the 60's. I can live with that!

Folks on some other threads talked about the proximity of the PV Walmart to the pier in the event anyone needs to restock on anything (including adult beverages!) The recommendation was to bring small US bills as the change comes in pesos. Not sure if you can use your credit cards there, or if you'd want to.

We planned our Palo dinner night for Valentine's Day...could hardly think of a better night for Palo! Reserved this weekend for packing in case we have to make a hasty exit from Chicagoland if another storm comes along.

We will come to a Disboards meet and greet...3:00 in Diversions is about as good as a time you can choose. I've tried to organize Dis meets a couple times in the past with various responses attendance wise. I think it's great to set up a time for whoever is able to come, and not be too disappointed if folks don't make it. Those who do come will at least get a chance to meet.

Definitely with ya on the cold Canadian kid wanting to be in the pool. I think it will be hard to get my DD out of the pool this whole cruise.

Great information Pam! Nice to see that there will be movies playing that not our whole family has seen yet. popcorn:: DH took DD to see Tangled and I missed it. Plus I think Tron will be great :3dglasses

I'm looking forward to seeing what Disney does with it being over Valentine's Day. We were in Disneyland once around Halloween and had fun watching them celebrate it, so I'm sure they don't let anything go by without celebrating. I did see online for past Valentine's cruises that they have a special pin for it. Not a huge collector, but really do like the special ones.

Packing for this trip has been a challenge. Finding summer clothes in Canadian in January is mental. DD outgrew everything she had from last year and all my summer stuff wasn't really cruisewear.... more like camping clothes... lol. Anyhow, online shopping saved me (and killed my credit card) and I'm starting packing this weekend. :woohoo:

My feelings are the same on a meet. Would love to do it, but I'm concerned committing to anything on the first day.

I believe the fish extenders spreadsheet that TaniaU had posted on the previous page is up to date. You can go back to that post to retrieve it. She's been adding information as it has been coming in. However, there were two cabins that still don't have room numbers.

Only 8 more sleeps until we fly out (but in my house we're saying 7 since I'm pretty sure I won't be able to sleep that last night!!! )

Super excited!!!!!!
Carly

Meet and greet sounds good, I would really like to introduce my kids to some others that are on ship. I expect we will also be at the pool. Is there anywhere to meet near the pool or Mickey Slide? Maybe we could do a Kids Group Meet and Greet near the pool?

"Gnomeo and Juliet" and they will be premiering "I Am Number Four" on Night #6. - great info. My 10 yr old just finished the I am #4 book, so he will want to see this.

We saw Tron, last month...I wouldn't waste my time on the ship, imo. :)

Online ordering, me too...a few packages are stuck in Memphis beacause of the storm, I hope FedX gets them here next week...one of my bathing suits is yet to be delivered :(

Getting excited here too!!

I just checked weather for the 13th in LA and is shows rain and a high of 67 - not exactly the weather I was hoping for in California. With a week to go, maybe the forcast in LA will change between now and then:worship: I know it will warm up as we head for Mexico but I was really wanting to get in the Vacation Mode by walking off the plane in LA to warm temperatures. The high temperature in Virginia today is a very cold 36 degrees:eek:

Looks like a possible Kids Meet and Greet by the Mickey Pool might happen, but I plan on trying to make it to Diversions at 3:00 p.m. just to say Hi! to any Disers that show up. If something comes up and I don't make it, at least I know I will see you at dinner:goodvibes

My forecast for the 13th, show sunn, high of 62 but I will tell you that the 10 day forecasts for S. Cal are usually very approximate...I will work on ordering warmer weather for your arrival and most of all, NO Rain!

I like the weather.com forecasts...they always seem to be more optimistic than everyone else's! Weather.com says sunny on the 12th in Anaheim when we are in Disneyland and sunny on the 13th for departure. 67 degrees is highly tropical to us..we are at 4 degrees right now and tonight goes back below zero. I hope our horses ears don't fall off.
