February 12th, 2005 Western. Who's going???

Jen,

Did you see the announcement on the "Disney Cruise Line Forum" board about postings that aren't related to cruises? According to the announcement, if a posting doesn't concern DCL cruises, they don't want it on the boards and may even delete it. Do you think that only applies to the Forum board or to the Cruise Meets board too? We won't have much to post for a while if we have to stick to DCL cruise topics!

On a cruise related topic - I received the DCL Planning DVD this week. It has a lot more information than the video. My kids and I sat down and watched most of it. It was fun to see the ship again!

Have a nice weekend!

I haven't visited the regular boards in a while since I've been so busy with end of the schhol year stuff so I haven't seen that announcement. I sure hope that it only applies to the regular boards and not the meet boards. If you can't chit chat back and forth with other people that are going on the same cruise as you, how else are you supposed to get to know one another?

DCL related, I was cornered by a mom at school today asking me about DCL. I told her that it was just a little slice of heaven and something that EVERYONE needs to experience at least once. Since I'm such a good sales person, she said she was going straight home to look at DCL's website. LOL

Not DCL related, we have to go to a band concert for school today. Pray for me that I don't die of boredom. :crazy2:

Jen,

We went to my daughter's band concert last night! I actually find the concerts entertaining! I play the bassoon (that's why I have the screen name I have!) and it brings back memories to hear middle school kids play band music! But my poor DH and DS get extremely bored. I am in the community band in our town, but I don't make them come to too many of my concerts!

I helped with my DS's field day at school today and nearly froze! It was only in the 50's until the sun finally came out! May has been very cool!

DCL related - we should get some kind of commission (maybe an onboard credit?) for the referrals we get for DCL! I know several people at my DS's school who are interested in the cruise since they heard about our trip last February. The cruise is a little slice of heaven! ::yes::

Have a nice weekend!

I hope everyone is doing OK. We're finally on summer vacation and I'm still trying to decide if that's a good thing. LOL My girls are already bored and it's only been a week! I guess maybe that's because it's done nothing but rain here the last few days so it's not like they can even go out to play.

We were looking through our cruise pics from Feb. this past weekend and it made me even more anxious for our next cruise! I don't think Feb. can come soon enough for me! Only 246 days to go. LOL

Hello!

My kids finished school yesterday. Unfortunately, it is raining here too. It sure doesn't feel like June!

Have you given any thought to what excursions you'd like to take? I have been reading as much as I can on the Cruise Line Forum board about the Western excursions. We only have 186 days to plan our excursions! :teeth:

Have a nice weekend!

Hi girls:

My 3 DSs are out today and I have mixed feelings. I'll be super glad for no more homework and projects, but as you said it only takes a week before they are bored. It's beautiful weather this week so at least I can send them outside.

We've still got our Feb reservation, but it looks like my parents may come through and go on the Panama Canal cruise with us which would mean we will for sure be going and canceling Feb.

I'll keep you posted. Have a wonderful weekend!

Michelle

I really haven't given any thought to excursions yet. Do you see any that really look or sound great? I think in Key West, I just want to plan on bumming around town and checking out the sites. Maybe doing the trolley thing. I'm not sure for the other stops though.

I know for sure we won't be doing any swimming with the rays because there is just no way that Beth (will be 8yo) would do that. Heck, she wouldn't even go swimming when we were on St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. I've paid so much stinking money on swim lessons and she still doesn't care to be in the water. :( Oh well, maybe I'll decide to do something like that and I'll just leave her in the lab for the afternoon. LOL

Michelle,

Well, like I said before, I'm pea green with envy over that Panama cruise! But I don't blame you for cancelling this Feb. cruise to go on that one. I sure would but there is no way I could afford it. Oh well, maybe someday when I win the lottery I can do it. :rotfl:

As far as excursions go, this what I am thinking about for my family to do so far:

Key West - rent one those small electric cars and sight see on our own. There is currently a thread about the cars on the Cruise Line Forum board. Or do the DCL kayaking excursion that takes you to a small island in the ocean where you kayak in double kayaks. My DH loves to kayak and we didn't get a chance to do any kayaking on our Eastern cruise last February because my DS wasn't old enough. With this excursion, you use double kayaks which would work well for us. My DH and I can each take one of our kids so the paddling won't be too hard.

Grand Cayman - probably one of the excursions to Stingray City. From what I've heard, we shouldn't miss it! I am not sure that my DS-9 will like touching the stingrays, but we will give it a try. I am probably going to book this excursion on our own and not through DCL because it will be cheaper and it seems that the groups are smaller.

Cozumel - we will either go to Paradise Beach or go see some Mayan ruins. From what I've read about Paradise Beach it sounds great! The beach is free including the chairs, trampoline, kayaks, etc. They only ask that you buy some food (which I read is quite reasonable). However, we have never seen Mayan ruins and maybe we should do something educational for our kids! My only problem with the ruins trips is that they are expensive and it takes a long time to get to the ruins.

I figured out that we sail eight months from today, so I have plenty of time to figure out what we want to do!

Michelle,
That would great if your parents went with you on the Panama Canal cruise! We tried to get my parents to join us for this upcoming cruise, but they didn't want to. I think they are afraid that they won't be able to keep up with us. We know my parents won't be around forever, so we want to spend as much quality time with them that we can!

Gen,

You can always go on the stingray tour with us. This will be our third time. Jazi was a little wary the first time but now she feels it is the one tour not to be missed. We always book directly with Captain Marv. and go on his three stop excursion. It is strickly snorkeling and they ALWAYS stop in the stingray area where you can stand up. He runs a safe, reliable tour. We have always been pleased with him.

Jami,

We are trying to decide if we should book with Captain Marvin's, Nativeway or Captain Bryan's. It seems that most people like Captain Marvin's and since you have been on his tour three times that seems like a good recommendation. Do you remember what the price was the last time you were on his excursion?

Thanks,
Gayl

Uh oh!! Our thread dropped to page three! That is too far back (even though we don't sail for 235 days)!

I posted a question on the Cruise Line Forum board about going to Excaret vs. Tulum in Cozumel. My kids (much to my surprise!) would rather see Mayan ruins than spend the day at Paradise Beach. Do any of you know anything about these places?

Gayl

Hi all,
My DW Brigitte, DD Masha (5) and I will be joining you on 2/12. This is our first Disney cruise. DW and I sailed on Celebrity to Bermuda in May '04, (our 1st cruise) and loved it. We look forward to meeting all of you.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to pop in to wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July!

We're approaching the 200 day mark for our cruise! I swear the time is going so SLOW!!! Living in Minnesota, I never thought that I would wish for it to be Feb! LOL

Jen,

I agree! I never thought I would be anxious for February either. On Saturday, I found myself trying to figure out how many weeks we had to go until our cruise! When I realized it was more than six months away I gave up!

Oh well. I am enjoying summer and will try to keep my excitement contained until the weather gets cold again!

Hello!

I am bumping up our thread and checking in. We just returned from spending a week at a cottage in northern Michigan on Torch Lake (the third most beautiful lake in the world according to National Geographic). It was great! The lake is over 300 feet deep in the middle, but the water is blue and the sand is white just like the Caribbean. We had a wonderful and relaxing time! :sunny: The beautiful blue water made us even more anxious for our cruise in February. I hope you are all having a nice summer too!

Gayl

Your vacation sounds like it was wonderful! We're leaving in the morning to go visit a friend of mine in Houston, TX. I'm quite nervous because it's a dang long drive but I think it'll be fun. We're almost at the 200 day mark!!!

Hello!

I am bumping our thread up because I found that the last posting was in July!

My family just returned from a two week trip out east. We visited several areas in New York (including the Statue of Liberty on its opening day) and my sister in Maine. It was a good trip, but it is good to be home! We got tired of living out of suitcases!

Our next big trip is our cruise in February! That will be the next time we use our suitcases.

Our cruise is officially six months away now. Yay!
