Feb 5th - 12th 2012 Mexican Riviera on the Disney Wonder

Question of the Day: Tuesday, December 20

What is your favorite Disney film?

It changes from time to time, but I think my favorite right now is Enchanted. I really enjoy the storyline, the songs and the humor.

My favorite classic is Alladin, and my new favorite is Rapunzel. Enchanted is pretty sweet too!

Hi!

I love the balloon idea, thinking I may go get helium ones on Christmas eve at the party store not ( the mall!) Put them in a box with a long ribbon attached, put something in the bottom for weight, so that when they open the box the balloons pop out! Ok maybe that's a fantasy, but at least maybe they'll float slowly out!

I don't use a travel agent too much anymore as booking online can be cheaper but sometimes she comes up with some great deals (including this one) and I've never actually met her, everything has been done over email. But yesterday she took the time to phone me, she knew we were giving it as a Christmas gift and asked if she could off some brochures and trinkets in my mailbox at my house I could use as part of our gift. It was a nice surprise!

Well come to Disneylago! Did you mention how old your kids are?

Thanks
Danielle

What are your plans for the Holidays?

I'll be cooking a 10 course meal on Christmas Eve for 10. The next morning, we have a lot of the same people back over and we make a big brunch (quiches, eggs, bacon, sausage, homemade waffles, etc). We all come in our jammies and exchange gifts. This year, I'm setting up an Italian Cream Soda Bar for during the meal and a Hot Cocoa/Hot Toddy Bar for post meal. I wish DD understood enough for us to surprise her with this trip. It would be pretty risky though, she may think we're getting on the boat that day and not understand when we tell her it isn't for another 40ish days.

We're having a ton of people over for the afternoon dinner. We'll be doing a killer prime rib roast. Ummmm, so good.

Can't wait for the call from Ariel to the girls about their cruise. They already know, we had Mickey do a call already, but it will still be nice. There was no way I could keep it a secret for so long, not sure how some of you have. My big lips could sink ships! (pun intended)

Otherwise, taking a few extra days off, but staying in town. Saving up days off for the cruise.

What is your favorite Disney film?

The original Tron. I already knew I had a computer problem when that came out in 1982, that movie helped solidify what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was the only person in that theater of about 20 people that had a clue what was going on that day. Kinda comforting making your career choice at 10 years old.. :)

What are your plans for the Holidays?

Going to see the parents and do 11pm mass on Christmas eve - then spending Christmas day playing with the kids.

No big plans for us over Christmas, family isn't in town, so just the 4 of us, presents, breakfast, play with the presents and dinner! Relaxing!!!

Does anyone have any guesses what movies could be playing on the ship when we go?

Danielle

I'm hoping Tintin. Going to wait to see it.

ohh...TinTin would be good, my kids have read many of the books (if you haven't seen them it's beacause they were written originally in French and it's not that popular in English)

Have a great day!!

My plans for Christmas are not a darn thing... We'll have a big meal for just the two of us, but it'll be our first 2 days off in like 8 days, so we plan on mostly just relaxing in our PJs all day, and watching a good 8 hours of 24 hours of A Christmas Story on TBS... LOL! :rotfl2: We'll prob head out to see the family on Christmas Eve. Sounds like I need to live closer to some of you with those huge meals your making! Sounds amazing!!!!

For movies, when does TinTin come out? I would imagine it would be on there. They always play new releases, even if it comes out while on ship, they usually premiere it on there.

It's going to be here sooooo soon!!!!

I love Tintin! Brings back great memories. My father is Chinese but went to a French school growing up (spoke and wrote nothing but French). My aunt still lives in France. When I was growing up, she used to ship my dad his favorite French books and comics from when he was a child. He used to translate them all for me. Brings back great memories! My favorites were Tintin, Lucky Luke and Asterisk & Obelisk.

It sounds like everyone here has been to WDW or DLR or on a DCL so...What is your favorite food item(s)?

I am a serious eater (which you can't necessarily tell from looking at my munchkin size), but I LOVE food! My faves include the Disneyland Churro (omg, better than anywhere else), the cream cheese pretzel (this sounded disgusting to me, until I had it), the pommes frites and the Monte Cristo sandwich. Ooooh and the bread basket at the Napa Rose! The Emerald Ice Tea is pretty amazing at Club 33, but I'll be hard pressed to be able to get my hands on that again.

Going to try to catch up on a few questions here:

So, favorite Disney movie? Wow, that is a really tough one for me, there are so many that I really enjoy! So I'll break it down this way. Pixar - Up, Live action - Secretariat, and Animated - Beauty and the Beast.

What are we doing for Christmas? We are going to a condo in the mountains for some family time and skiing. With the two older kids home from college, we will REALLY enjoy the time together. We just got a little over a foot of fresh snow here and it's beautiful.

Favorite Disney food? It's hard enough to pick a favorite place! But I think if I have to pick just one it would have to be the filet w/mac and cheese at Jiko (AKL) at WDW. If you want something sweet, it would have to be the fudge mudslide at Beaches and Cream at Yacht and Beach club (WDW). And since we will all be on the ship here soon, you will have to find the chocolate covered strawberries!!! :woohoo:

Clam chowder bread bowls over by Splash Mountain and Haunted House at DL. Yummm!

Question of the Day: Friday, December 23

How many times have cruised Disney? How many times have you cruised total?

I've never been on any cruise ship. The largest ship I've been on is the big ferry up near Victoria Island in British Columbia. I'm very, very excited for my first cruise. I've had hit and miss sea sickness, so I'm praying I don't get any on the Wonder.

DH has cruised before, but he's fallen asleep so I can't ask him how many times. He has never been on a Disney Cruise. He's almost as much of a Disney fan as me so I think he'll have a wonderful time.

DD is a big Disney fan as well but has never been on a cruise before. Honestly, we didn't think she was ready to sail until recently.

Question of the Day: Friday, December 23

How many times have cruised Disney? How many times have you cruised total?

Cruised three times (signature shows that). Twice on short Carnival trips out of San Diego (once with girls, once without), and once on an 11 nighter to Mexico on Celebrity. DD was only 1 at the time, and DW was pregnant with DD2. 11 nighter was a couple nights too long for our circumstance (pregnant and with 1 year old), but would do it again later in life.

We've never cruised Disney before, but have cruised before. I've been on 6 cruises, 3 princess, 1 carnival and 2 royal. So far royal has been our favorite, but looking forward to trying Disney.

Counting the hours until we tell the kids! I booked a character call for Christmas morning! Mickey will call our house at 9 am.

Danielle

Ohhhh food...my fav!!!! Okay I will agree, love love DL churros!!! And cream cheese filled pretzels are my most favorite thing in the park, but they have to be fresh!! Also love, love, love the brocolli and cheese bread bowl at pacific wharf cafe in DCA. Ohhn and we can't forget about dole pineapple whips... yummmmmm. Those are my other favorite!!!

This will be our 5th Disney Cruise, and 6th cruise overall. We've never done one over 4 nights, so hoping I'll survive longer on the ship. Princesssophiesmom-get the ear patches, they work wonders!!! Amazing. Totally prevent motion sickness. The first day you wear it, you feel soooo thirsty, like your throat is super dry where you almost feel like you are getting a cold...but after the first day its gone, that's the only side effect. I've heard the bracelet works, but ive never used it.

I'm off work for 2 days as of now. Thank goodness!!! Soooo tired!!!!!
