Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

Ok, I thought that the GAD was giving a day to WDW and you would get one in return. I didn't know that we could volunteer in our very own community!!! So I did some researching and now we are volunteering this Saturday at our local park for 5 hrs and instead of coming straight home for the cruise we now get to go to WDW!!!! :yay: We have never been to WDW and I think I'll keep this a secret and surprise the kids. They are going to love it!! Thanks Tammy for posting that...I would have never known :)

Oh that's great - you are going to LOVE WDW - have you decided which park you will go to? Magic Kingdom is my favorite!!!

Tammy

We fly Southwest and I purchased my tickets back in November. The prices have been going up, coming down and then going up more. It makes no sense and drives me crazy  I keep checking daily though, just in case I can get a better deal.

I know what you mean the flight I originally wanted went up to $115.00 so we went ahead and booked the next flight out at $97.00 pp.

We are doing MK. From what I'm told it's the best park for little kids. I've heard that you can't do it all in 1 day so it looks like I might have to buy tickets for an extra day ;)

I signed up for the GAD in November when I first saw it advertised. Wasn't planning on visiting WDW until this came along. In addition, the room rates have a sale of 25%, 30% and 35% depending on where you are staying. So everything was falling into place. We're staying at the POR. Last is the airfare:scared1: I fly Southwest too and have been checking the prices everyday since November - up - down - up. They are quite high right now but I really think the price wars will start soon with the new year. :wizard:

Yay -- now our trip feels like it's just around the corner! We've made reservations for two nights before & three nights after the cruise. Now, just need to book one more room for our trip home & we'll be good to go.

So excited now!!!

Diane

Wow :scared1: I can't imagine being in the car for that long. I think my DH would kill me til get got there - I'm a very good backseat driver in the front :)

Tammy

The first time we made the drive was the hardest, our daughter was only 2, but we brought a sitter with us he made the drive a lot of fun for our son! They sat in the back of the mini van and played video games on the game cube that we brought. We also brought an extra sound system and 2 individual seat tv's that made the drive bearable!

Since then we've made the drive 4 more times, with the last 2 being the easiest thanks in large part to earplugs...

just kidding, the kids know that the time in the van is going to be well worth it once we park, so they seem to have gotten a grasp on how to behave for the drive and to stay as calm as possible lol..

:banana:I DID IT!! I finally finished my FE's , although the second one looks better than the first one. I really haven't sewn since high school..home ec. I forgot how to do a pleat and then it just came to me when I was doing the second one, duh! . Now I just need embellishments and our names over the pockets and string for the dowell. Thank god thats over:banana: Onto another subject ...is anyones dd bringing their American Girl doll or any doll ? Rogan's bringing hers and she was wondering if she would be the only one.

6 weeks tomorrow and we are leaving! Woo-Hoo!!! We bought our tickets back in Sept or Oct. We had to pay a little more than we usually do about $200pp but we arent's used to travelling that time of year and I figured with spring breaks and stuff it would be a bit more.

If anyone else is planning on getting to the terminal early, maybe we can met up in the terminal - it would be great to put faces to names.

Tammy

I like your idea of meeting up at the terminal. We will arrive around 10:45. How will we find each other?

Since our family is doing a land/sea package we were told we don't have to wait in line at port check-in, we check into the boat when we check into the hotel. We'll be staying at the Caribbean Beach for three nights before the cruise.

Here's my new beef: I booked all this stuff in December and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm gettting completely ripped off, or rather, paid at the worst time. I booked the boat too late for the "kids cruise free", and I booked the room too early for the "give one get one" ticket promo or the new discounted rates. I don't know if it's worth phone calls to try to fix any of it. I'm such a 'deal finder' that I hate feeling like I've messed this up. Ugh, it's only money, right?:confused3

Anyway, Thanks Tammy for keeping the FE list updated! I've bought so much stuff I'm going to have to pack a separate duffel just for FE goodies. :scared1:

Great job - isn't such a great feeling of satisfaction when you get a project like that finished. I made our for our last trip and had to change the names for this trip. I'm hoping it looks ok.

I'm sure your DD won't be the only one with her AG doll - lucky doll getting to go on a cruise :)

We are all set - I have confirmed with everyone one the list that they are still participating, so we are good to go with the families listed.

I will cut the sign up list off on January 27th - for those who are gty - please remember to email your cabin number(s) so we know where to find you. Also email any other changes.

If anyone else is interested in joining us, please send me an email to dthogue5@verizon.net before January 27th.

Tammy

For those of you who booked a gty cabin - I checked my reservation today and our cabin was assigned. We booked a cat 12 and were upgraded to a cat 9 :cool1: I am so excited - we never had a porthole before. Can't wait to get on the ship.

Tammy
:cheer2:

Awesome!! We were bumped from an 11 to a 9 last year and were wishing it might happen again. Maybe I should check our reservation.

We booked a category 9, but it'd be nice to be bumped to a verandah. Honestly, at this point I just hope to get enough pixie dust sprinkled on our reservation for us to be moved into the early dinner seating (we're waitlisted).

That is awesome Tammy!:cool1: Our cabin was assigned today too. We booked 12gty (4 people) and received an 11. I was hoping that we would get an upgrade too, but I am really just happy to be going.

I just check my room assignment too. I booked a cty 12 and I got an 11. Was really hoping for a window too. I am on Deck 7 so I guess that's a plus.

What do you think is better - a handicap room on deck 7 or an oceanview on deck 2. Just got my room assignment and trying to decide if I should upgrade. Thanks for your help.

Well, I took the plunge and finally formally booked this cruise after waffling for a couple of weeks placing reservations on hold. It's a little solo getaway for me so I'll probably be spending a good portion of the time hanging out in the Cove Cafe with my Sony Reader or partying in the clubs. I'm looking forward to some hopefully warmer weather!

Did you decide? I found these photos of a cat 11 HA stateroom.

A cat. 9 would be really nice too IMHO. I have to admit, there is still a part of me that really wished we had been upgraded. I love waking up to a sunrise. But I guess not enough to pay for it:rotfl2: We are midship deck 6, a few cabins down from the aft elevators. The stateroom reviews for that area are mixed. Some seem to like it, some say it is loud from the theater below:confused3

Thanks for the pictures. Looks pretty roomy, but where's the tub? Also, from what I read, there is no couch in the room but there is a pull down bed from the wall. We're at the back of the ship on deck 7 right across from the secret deck (7131). Even though we don't have a window - we do have the small deck close by. I'm thinking that we should stick with this room since the pools are just 2 decks up and the kids clubs just 2 decks down.
