Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

Does anyone know the size of the In room safe? We are trying to figure out what items can be secured properly...

I don't know the exact dimensions, but the safe runs deep and not too high. High enough for me to put in my high end camera and lens, with other things. I usually keep inside: my Rebel XT or my Canon 40D (it may be deep enough for both) plus my passports and a flattish box that contains all my jewelry, plus wallet. I can't think of anything more of "value" that we have with us on the ship. But the safe is great - I never found it too small!:thumbsup2

Safe Travels Beauty Fan and all others travelling tonight! I'm jealous!!!:cheer2:

I spent the evening doing MORE laundry (huh?! I thought I did all that), trying to do a good deal of the packing. Still need to decide what/how to pack small pre-cruise bag for all of us.

and, ugh, DH tells me tonight the brakes are squeaking; so now I have to bring the car in tomorrow. :sad2:

So far, got my hair cut, eldest son's hair cut, wrote note to twins' school/teachers, finished (I think???) door signs.

Still need to:
-get brows waxed
-finish Cruise T-shirts!!!! (Long story - bottom line: I cannot in good faith recommend Kodak printers. Sorry Kodak, I tried to love ya!)
- get one of the twin's hair cut
- pack, pack, pack!!!:scared1:

I am SOOOOO afraid I will forget to pack our passports!!! I don't want to put them in the suitcase just yet, b/c I've got 4 people's STUFF for 4 days strewn all over my room. Must remember passports, Must remember passports... oh yeah! and my Over The Door Shoe Holder!

I'm waiting until the last possible minute to do anything with my eyebrows. If I pluck them today they'll regenerate by Saturday. I'm trying to decide if DS needs a haircut. If we weren't taking a trip I wouldn't even worry about it, but I don't want him to look like a ragamuffin in all his pictures. I don't like his hair being too short - it makes him look older than he is. :guilty:

Looks like Castaway Cay will have scattered thunderstorms on the day we are supposed to be there. I am soo bummed. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope the weather changes

I noticed that yesterday. I hope they're just the sort of quickie storms we get here in NC during summer months where they come and go in 15-20 minutes. At least it'll be warm enough for shorts!

If the weather forecast remains the same, will they switch our day at sea with the day at Castaway Cay?

The weather for this whole trip just stinks. I don't know wether to pack more shorts/tshirts or jeans and long sleeve t's. What's everyone else doing? Part of me says 60s are fine for shorts for us northern folk who have been dealing with under 30's for the last 4 months, but then, I'm second guessing myself. Ugh. I hate this part of trip planning. Puts me in a very un-Mickeyish mood.

I am with you! I am really stressing over what to pack! I have short sleeves, long sleeves. shorts, pants, sweatshirts, a rain windbreaker, a coat.. ridiculous! :rotfl: I am going to need an extra suitcase just for my indecisiveness!

What are you all packing??

I have been having a hard time figuring out what to pack too. It has been so 'cold' here that I just want to be somewhere really warm in shorts & tee's. Upper 60's and lower 70's make me want to wear long pants and long sleeves. That is NOT cruise attire:sad1: IMHO. I will probably pack way to much of warm and cooler weather clothes and not have what I want anyway.:confused3 I can't remember a time that it has been this cold at the end of Feb.

Does anyone know if they will change days for Castaway to a better day?

I packed a mix of everything. I have two long sleeved tshirts for everyone, 5 tshirts, four pairs of shorts, 1 pair of jeans (plus the ones we'll be flying down in) two long sleeved tshirts, one sweatshirt (we're going to buy the kids DCL sweatshirts on ship, we've been buying script Disney cards for the last several months to save up enough for them!) plus our dress clothes (basically, kahkis and or black pants and two nice tops for dinner, will alternate nights on the tops!). I've never packed this much stuff before. The three older kids are taking their little suitcases and planeside checking them becasue I'm too cheap to pay for checking more than two suitcases. I was orginally going to pack two separate suitcases...one for our time at WDW before and after the cruise, and one for the cruise, but since its going to be chilly on the cruise, I'm just going to take both suitcases. That way, I can stand in our cabin every morning for a half hour trying to decide if its a long pants t shirt kind of day, or a shorts/tshirt and morning sweatshirt kind of day, or if its a short sleeve t/shorts kind of day, change my mind 1000 times, switch the kids' outfits three times, and make it up for breakfast. Yeah. Sounds totally like me!

:)

Oh well, a cold day on a DCL cruise beats a cold day anywhere else, right? Who's with me?

Forgot to ask....on our last cruise, when we were in Shutters, I saw pics of people with Mickey and Minnie dressed in sailor outfits. The Shutters people said they only wear sailor attire the first day. Anyone know what time? I'm trying to figure out if the kids should wear their sailor stuff to the show and then late dining? Where can I find out the times Mickey and crew will be in the sailor stuff for pics in advance? Is it just luck? Should we plan on boarding the ship in the kids' sailor outfits???

I've been planning this particular shot for some time now, hope they're still doing it. And yea, I really am that nuts! :)

Mickey and Minnie are in the terminal before boarding begins in their sailor outfits. Mickey usually comes out first, I'd say about 10:30, then Minnie comes out and they switch places. When we cruised in May, we stood in line for Mickey, then went to the back of the line to wait for Minnie. The Navigator also shows Mickey in the lobby at 5:30 on Monday, but I don't know what he would be wearing.

Hope that helps!

Tammy

We saw all the characters in their sailor suits on the last night at about 10pm.

I'm trying not to be concerned about the weather, a lot can change this far out and I can't control it anyway so I'll hope for the best.

I've often wondered if, on a four day cruise, the weather at CC is bad...will they make that the day at sea and try to get to CC on Wednesday? I figured that was why they have CC the day before sea day (well, one reason anyway).:thumbsup2

Someone please settle an argument/disagreement between me and DH. Is the Disboard color lime green or is it more of a florescent green?

Help! I was planning on booking a one night room at Comfort Inn so we could check in/out at the same time and utilize Atlantis water park.

Just tried to book the room and on line reservations state that as of March 1, 2010 the Comfort Inn is requiring a minimum 4 night stay???

Is this new or am I doing something wrong?

Wel, if you see a woman at the splash pool at around 3:00 wearing a green shirt that is definitely not flourescent green but maybe a little darker than lime, say "Hi". I will be me. :thumbsup2 <-- not this color

I am getting dizzy. I took off today (Thursrday) to pack, clean house and nap in preperation for leaving after the kids get out of school and driving through the night (in parks friday and Sat). Then, my boss cancelled my day off due to a mandatory 3 day meeting (I was still allowed to get off at noon but I work an hour away so, that's 1:00) We got ahead of schehdule in the meetings so today became less important and I was given my day off again.

Forecasters calling for another major storm so DH tells me we are leaving a day early, hurry up and pack, then storm misses us so don't worry, we'll leave on schedule, then storm back on so leave today at 1:00.

I was up until 3:00 preparing for an emergency departure and DD got me up at 5:00. I need a nap!

D'oh!

DH took tomorrow off so we can get our ducks in a row. His job isn't crazy enough to call him in, but they'll email him all day (and call him when he doesn't respond to the emails). :headache:

Hope you get out of there okay! (On that note, I should go look at our forecast here so I can just see how cold it'll be in the car Saturday morning when we leave.)

Hi everyone! This will probably be my last post before we leave so I pray that everyone will have safe travels this weekend :car: :) We will be driving 16 hours with a 9 and 3 year old, so we will need the prayers too!!!! :rotfl: We've had a rough 2 weeks! I've had strep and have been on antibiotics and got a rocephin shot and I'm much better, but my daughter fell the night before last at my mother in laws and landed on her face and is now sporting a swollen blue nose :sad2:. We had xrays done and thank God it wasn't broken, but there goes my beautiful pictures that I wanted. Just my luck! Only 28 more hours until we leave...so hopefully nothing else will go wrong:scared: We are so excited about our first cruise and we can't wait to meet everyone!!! :yay:
