Feb. 26, 2012 Mexican Riviera

Anyone else doing Las Caletas in PV? I've heard amazing things about it! Seems to be referred to as the Castaway Cay of the Mexican Riviera cruise! Now that sounds good to me! We're booked for that!

:banana:we are going to be there also! we're going from 7:30-2:30! how about you??? hope to see you there! from Katie:cool1:

I think the muster drill is at 4pm and the sailaway party at 4:30. Since you're concierge you'll get boarding number 1 . You'll have plenty of time for what you're planning! We could plan on meeting up around 3pm. Rooms should be ready by then and then after meeting we can head to our muster stations.

That sounds good. Ok now for a location. Again, I am clueless. :confused3

We could meet on deck 9 by the drink station or on the other side by the ice cream station. Or at the lounge on deck three over by Parrot Cay. Do any of those sound good? The lounge is inside and very nice. But the drink stations have coffee and soda.

Seems like most of our great FE group is posting here also. Almost two weeks away! Hooray! Did anyone sign up for the Canopy Adventure with all the zip lines in Cabo? Am taking my two 9 year old granddaughters on the trip and they would love this adventure but quite sure my creaky body would not survive. Maybe I could pay for them and they could join up with another group??:cheer2:

My dd will be 8 the day before we sail and she also is shy about the kids club. She ususally doesnt like to go in there by herself. So I would love to meet up with anyone who has girls around her age. Let me know the time an place you all plan on meeting.

We are also doing Las Caletas in PV, but its not the early one, I think ours is like 10 or 10:30.

My girls are seven (eight come June). And we're doing Las Caletas in PV, but I don't know which time (I'm sure I must have it listed somewhere, but I don't know where :happytv: ). Anyway, if we can come up with a time, how about you meet with Kimmiepie and us, and whoever else is interested!, around 3pm?

Sounds good, have you decided an definate time and place to meet?

Is the lounge more centrally located than the beverage fountain? Which ever one would be easier for everyone to get to I would say.

3 is probably also a good time. any thoughts?

The lounge is on deck 3 off of the atrium and down a hall (I think, I am trying to remember). The drink station is up on the deck with the pools. So I'd say both are centrally located even though they aren't near each other. Let's do the lounge, then if it's hot we can get cool and if it's cold we can get warm.

Meet up at 3pm after embarkation! In the Promenade Lounge on deck 3.

We will be there at 3pm...looking forward to meeting everyone, so cool some of us have kids that are the same age. DD just turned 7 and DS is 3 almost 4. When took this exact cruise last year and the kids didn't spend a lot of time in the clubs, hopefully this year if they make some friends they will want to stay longer and DH and I can get some date time

Funny, we were on the same cruise with you last year (our first ever) and now we're on this one together. Our girls didn't really spend much time in the clubs either. They liked seeing in the Navigators what was happening and then deciding on activities they wanted to do, but always wanted to get picked up after those. We're hoping they like the clubs more this year, but we all had such a great time last year that we honestly don't mind if they want the majority of the time outside of the clubs. We did tell them that they must go in twice, once for our Palo brunch and once for our Palo dinner, but that the rest of the time they can hang with us :cloud9:

Looking forward to meeting any and all that come to the meet!

So let's make it official then. 3pm in the lounge! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I agree with you all in hoping that if the kids have "buddies" that they know in the club, they would be more inclined to stay for a bit. I am not intending on leaving them there all day, just a little break here and there would be nice. We are both working parents and while we love our kids to the moon and back, 24 hours a day for 7 days is a bit more time than we are used to. But I am at the minimum hoping for 2 times - Palo brunch and Palo dinner :)

Is anyone doing Disneyland before? We live in San Diego so we are just going to drive up Saturday and hit up DL and spend the night there and drive to the port in the moring. SO excited to surprise the kids with the cruise :yay:

Woohoo!!! Sounds great! We'll meet you all at 3! My kids will be happy to have familiar faces, and so will DH and I! Always nice to meet new folks.

My DS and I are doing Disneyland for 3 days before the cruise, as I am a stay at home mom, and DS is in preschool so it's easy for us to come out early. DH and DD will fly out Saturday to meet us before the cruise since it's harder for them to take off as much work/school.

So, we'll be enjoying Disneyland and then hopping aboard the cruise! Can't wait! I started laying out shirts I made for the kids in our suitcases today. A little early, I know, but this way I can throw things in there as I think of them so I don't forget!

See you all soon!

OK, I'm sitting in my cubicle looking out the window to a -22C (-8F) morning. So knowing that the Wonder is in Cabo again today, I have to have a look at the webcam again. Ahhhhh........

A meet up would be great! It will be me, DW, DD14, DS14. We will be looking lost, no doubt, but we should be able to find Deck 3 since we are on Deck 2!

Love the picture! Thanks for sharing that. And I see that you have twins, too :thumbsup2

I have heard that deck 2 is an awesome location. Our next cruise we're booked on deck 1, but this time we'll be on 5.

:dance3:

It seems that a majority of you have cruised before. This being our first, I have no idea what to do about sea sickness meds for us and the kids.

I have been doing a lot of research and have left a message with the kids' pediatrician to find out what they recommend.

I was thinking of dramamine for the kids at bedtime starting the night before we cruise.

For me and DH, Bonine Less Drowsy since you only have to take it once a day.

Still trying to figure out if we should take it in the morning and be drowsy all day or at night before bed. But we plan on drinking and I am nervous about drinking and then taking it right before bed.

What did you do/will you do for your kids? And for yourselves?

I know there are many threads on the topic, but I figured since we all have kids around the same ages it would be best to ask you all!!

thanks in advance :goodvibes

I figured from your avatar that you did too! It's a blast. Each stage has really been fun. Now they are in grade 9. The years fly by too fast.

OK, just one more screen grab of the Wonder before it leaves Cabo. This camera is the best of what I've seen.

None of us is prone to car sickness or getting sick on planes, so I wasn't too worried about it when we went. DH had been on plenty of boats in his life, so we knew he wouldn't have a problem and I've been on sailboats and been fine. I mostly chose to bury my head in the sand and hoped for the best. Thankfully, we didn't have any issues. They do have free motion sickness meds in the medical center, but I don't know what kind. My girls didn't have any problems at all and neither did we.

There is some sort of patch that you can get from a doctor on land that you just place behind your ear. I don't know if it is just for adults or if it is ok for kids as well.

I bet they'll be fine.

Another wonderful picture! Thank you. We've had this trip planned for a year and it wasn't hard to get to this point. I occasionally thought about it, but it wasn't too bad. But these last two weeks or so have been so hard! I just want to be on the boat right now with my family! I can't wait.

I've found every stage so far to be great fun with the girls, too. (And I can tell you're Canadian as you said "grade 9" instead of "9th grade" or "a high school freshman" :rolleyes1 )

Is anyone changing their plans for PV excursions due to the new travel advisory? http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_5665.html

We are currently booked for Paradise Adventure through Disney but do you think it's safer at Crown Paradise since it's closer to the port?

We are not. I read about this last night and here is what the say about the actual tourist areas:

"The State Department's updated travel warning does not apply to Puerto Vallarta, which is a popular resort city and leading vacation destination in Mexico," said Gustavo Rivas-Solis, spokesman for the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board in New York. "Puerto Vallarta continues to be one of the safest destinations for international travelers."
Mexican tourism officials said they are expecting record numbers of international visitors this year, especially to the southern regions because of the legends about the Maya 2012 prophecies.
U.S. officials urged Americans who visit Mexico to avoid high-risk areas and to use common sense in getting around.
