These are really getting popular here and lots of places are offering them. Prices are really ranging and one girl is doing them really cheap in her home (she is not a cosmetologist like most of the folks doing them).

If you or your dd has them, have you had any problem with them falling out?

DD's bff got them from the girl that is doing them so cheap but they fell out and her mom put them back in for her.

Is this a common problem with these things?

If not, I would rather pay more and not have to deal with them falling out.

We are planning to get them for dd next week so need to decide where and make an appointment if necessary.

I took DD to a local salon. She got 3 feathers and it was $40.
So far so good. DD is 11 and has had a very active summer with vacations and soccer. She is not particularly careful and it has been 7 weeks with no signs of problems.

I saw a young girl with them today-a hot pink on one side and neon green on other side

Dont get it:confused3

I've been seeing middle aged women at the gym wearing these lately. They look really dumb on anyone over 16.

My salon charges 8.00 for one thin feather or 3 for 20.00. The larger feathers are 20.00 each. We usually secure the extension with a bead and hair extension glue. Not really a issue with falling out and even if they do, we will put them back in free of charge.

Anyone have any pix? I'd like to see this....:goodvibes

ok, thanks. I will be taking her to the salon. They charge more but i would rather not deal with having to take her back to get them put back in.

Most are really cute. DD wants aqua blue.

I work at a daycare and we have a couple of students who have gotten them. They seem to stay in pretty well - two have had theirs for a week, but one yanked hers out today. She had to pull pretty hard, though, because she said "ouch!" when she did it. Even then it was the feather that came out, not the base that was holding it.

DD (6) got hers over a month ago and they haven't come out. You can wash, flat iron, curl, etc. DD loves them They are really cute on her. You can buy them online for about $3 each. I wish I had known that before I paid 10 times that much for two. Even if they fall out, they are so easy to put back in.

For the PP who asked for a pic, just google feather extensions.

DD has one that our stylist put in at the salon. It has been in for 2 weeks and survived a week at girl scout camp. I paid $15 for a small fluffy blue one with a long thin tail and an additional long skinny gray one. I think of them kind of like the hair wraps we used to get DD at WDW. She loves it and I find it really cute, its not huge and obnoxious its just kind of fun.

My dd has two thin ones together. They were $15 at the salon. They have been in about 3 weeks I think and are still in tightly. Here are the thinner more subtle ones, not the big puffy ones. I have heard if they are put in right they should last a few months.

Here is a sight where you can see pictures (I do have to draw the line on putting them on dogs LOL)...

My sister is a cosmetologist and is making a killing on these.. quite the craze! They also have tinsel that around here is also very popular, anyways DS has had some last months on end and she curls or flat irons her hair daily. I think they are adorable on and young girl, wish I could carry them in a cute way at 27 lol. Hers are secured with a very tiny bead at the root and are thin. an upscale salon here puts them in as a big section/clump and I don't think it looks as good as individually placed ones that are thinner. But that is just my opinion

My daughter had them put in at the mall- the first 3 she got didn't last a day and they fell out---took them back and they put them back in and that was about 3 weeks ago and they are still holding on tight. They cost 16.00 per feather so it was 39.00 for the group of three.

They are really popular here too. I know a lot of people or their children that have them and they have had no problems with them. I am thinking of letting my 6 yo dd get a couple before school starts in a few weeks. I have a friend who is a hairdresser and she does a great job with them.

I personally didn't get the appeal either but I think they are cute on younger girls. I know a lot of women who have had it done too but it's not for me.

Wow, glad your such a stick in the mud. Maybe all us old people over 16 should just wear some old lady high wasted jeans and go to bed early. I am well over 16 I have two feathers discretely tucked in my hair and

I FIND YOUR COMMENT OFFENSIVE! :snooty:

You better not visit the PLANKING thread... ;)

I got some for my DD for her birthday back in May. She has 4 thin ones together. My DDiL put them in for her just standing in the kitchen. It took about 10 seconds! DDiL is an instructor at a beauty college and puts them in all the time, and she had DDs in before I had the wrapping thrown away!

They have been in since her birthday and have been through a mission trip and 2 sessions at camp and are still going strong. She uses a hair dryer and a flat iron on them and they look great!

I think they are cute and said I wanted some too since she and DDiL both have them and DD told me if I get them hers are coming out! Said I was too old!!! What a party pooper!!

Not for me, but I think they are cute on the kids. The girls on DD's cheer team are trying to talk the coach in to letting them get them in the school colors.
