FE disapointment?

I am actually fairly stressed out about the FE exchange. This is my first time with it and I already feel pressure being worried that my gift won't be good enough. I am also stressed that it won't be fun for my kids, if they get a ton of candy it will just cause arguments since they will want to eat it all and we won't let them have it considering I expect them to be eating dessert, Popsicles and ice cream way too much.
Just a suggestion but you could set some ground rules with your kids ahead of time. Like "one candy snack a day" or the candy gifts are just for the movies/shows. That way they still get the treat but at certain times.

The only Mickey q-tips I have seen are at the Dollar Tree. It is a black metal container with Mickey and friends and has q-tips in it. Not sure if that is what they were talking about.
Will have to go look for these!!!

We did the FE on our last cruise. I was so excited to do it being our first Disney cruise. I planned, made and picked everything for each person according to there favourite colours and characters.

Then when we received all of our gifts I was very surprised and disappointed after all the hype and work I put into ours. We mostly received just candy. None of the character stuff was the right characters.

I was just wondering if more people have the experience we had or if the FE was everything they thought it would be? Not posting to complain but booked our second cruise and not sure if I should give it another try? Maybe ours was just a fluke?
What does FE stand for?

This is what we did on our first cruise last November. I brought an FE along, and stuck little things in it each day for our son to find. A little "Disney Magic" for him. He and I also walked our deck and left something small in each of the FE's we found.
We did find a few surprises in ours as well throughout the trip. For us, it was the perfect way to do something nice without all the pressure. We'll do the same thing again next year when we sail with our extended family.

I'm going to do this the next time too. We got A LOT of really nice and thoughtful gifts throughout the week. We got so many gifts (there were 10 cabins in our FE group), I had to ship them home in a separate box. We are so grateful for everything we received. I will wait until DS is older to participate again, because traveling with an infant/toddler requires packing a lot of stuff. I brought an extra bag to carry the FE gifts we gave. However, the gifts we received would not all fit in that same bag. DS and I enjoyed strolling around the ship delivering gifts before everyone woke up. It was fun, but I'll wait until he's older and requires less personal items in our luggage. :)

How big was the box with all those fleece blankets?

I actually packed them in a duffel and then I could use that for souvenirs on the way back. I'm local out of Orlando so it was just one more bag in the car for me. Would definitely have done something different if I had to get on a plane. :)

I'm doing FE but I love making crafts and I'm a DIYer. I try to be creative but I am super budget conscious. omg I love love love that ice cream idea....there are no toppings for the ice cream on board so I think it would be awesome!!! And truth be told my girlfriend is giving that out as her FE for her next cruise. She's done it all from modgepodge coasters, to mani pedi sets, to homemade frames....it's the thought and fun of it. My little guy is just so psyched that we are going to have one of those door hanging things.

One thing I have learned is to keep gifts very small. I've read too many times about people not having enough room in their luggage and leaving their things behind. This coming cruise I've chosen to make something very, very small and very, very light which is meaningful. We received it as an FE gift many years ago and my family still uses the item on many occasions. I hope others will enjoy as well.

Not only wanted to see if they got something but WHAT they got. And indicated that if it was something like penny candy they would not be giving that cabin a gift. I can't find the thread right now, but someone had quoted her so that even when she edited her original post you could still see what she'd said.

I'd be tempted to leave coal in their fish extender.

can I bring a carry on roller bag on at embarkation day? I don't want to put my fish extender gifts in a bag that will sit out in the heat or possibly be thrown around and could get damaged. I know you can board with a day bag don't know if there is a size limit or not

Carry on bags max size - 22"X 14"X 9" (has to fit though the scanner). But you can have as many carry on bags as you can wrangle, no limit on those.
