Favorite restaurants that no longer exist?

We also use to have a place in Baltimore called York Steakhouse. I don't know if it was a chain or not, but they had the best chicken and rolls. Well at least to an 8 year old kid they did!
OMG! I loved this place when I was 8 too! :lmao: Ours was in the mall and you would walk in down this long dark hallway before you got to the cafeteria part. Thinking back, it was kind of creepy. But I loved getting my own tray and walking down the line and putting food on the tray. It was so cool! :thumbsup2 Today, I wouldn't be caught dead there. :rotfl:

I miss Chi-Chis, and also Casa Lupita (Ohio)

Wow, Casa Lupita, that sure is a blast from the past! They had probably the best chili con queso I've ever tasted. Don't know when the one closest to me (in Washington Township/Centerville) closed, but it's now a Carvers Steak and Chops.

The Longhorn was the best!

My one stint as a waitress was at a Longhorn steakhouse...I still remember what we had to chant for people's birthdays..

"Fried chicken, country hog, it's your birthday, hot dog!!!" Talk about humiliating!

BIG THUNDER RANCH BBQ

Disneylands best value when it was there.

Ah, York Steakhouse! My parents used to take me there every Friday evening, and I'd order the same thing every time: sauteed sirloin tips (and, like the idiot I was, without the sauteed onions), a baked potato, and their heavenly rolls.

Another thing I remember about York Steakhouse: the ubiquitous signs that read "No Tipping, Please". I bet my parents especially loved that! :lmao:

York steakhouse is one I miss the most. Their grilled steak sandwich with that YUMMY steaksauce!!! I REALLY miss that place!!!

My most missed are:

Zantigo's--fast food Mexican eatery that ran circles around circles around Taco Bell. I dearly miss the red or green chili burritos, the nachos (real cheese, no stinkin' Cheez Wiz), and, of course, the red and/or green chili chilitos. Ironic thing is, they were bought out by Yum Brands, parent company of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and other such affronts to the human palate.

G.D. Ritzy's--Diner-themed fast food eatery that did three things exeptionally, deliciously well: the burgers, the ice cream (my two favorites were white chocolate chunk and chunky dory fudge), and the chili-cheese coneys that featured natural-casing all-beef hot dogs that had that extremely pleasurable POP! when you bit into them.

Bahama Breeze--just closed down inexplicably (they were almost always crowded) a few weeks ago; home of the best onion rings I've ever in my life consumed.

Honorable mentions: Elite's (sounds like "delight's") Ice Cream, the Cambridge Inn Cafeteria.

Anyone remember

Sir Georges royal buffet

Sambos(that was our breakfast spot).

Ground Round- I spent most of my college years there, my friends would all go out to eat there. They had popcorn on all the tables and I would get the Pot of Gold appetizer that had everything fried. My stomach was much stronger then!

Ah, yes, Sambo's. A chain that was felled by an early example of rampant (not to mention, totally off-base) political correctness. I remember it well.

I also miss Shoney's...for several years, my family all met there on Christmas Eve morning after my brother's and my swim practice and we all had their breakfast buffet. MAN, they had the best bacon ever!

Ferrells!!!
Arthur Treachers and Shakey's pizza. Now that's a blast from the past. I also really liked Chi Chi's
Also, the original A&W Rootbeer drive-in's

We still have a couple Shakeys around here, most are BIGS PIZZA now but even at BIGS the menu is shockingly similar.

Another one I miss.

Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour

I still miss Chi-Chi's to this day!!!!!:sad2: My family still teases me about it!

Was that at Westview Mall? That's the one we would always eat at.

Thats what they were saying? Remember the SPARKLER in the cake? I live down the street from where the Longhorn was in Chester Heights PA

I don't even remember if they were good or not, but when my mother would get her tax refund we would go to Penderosa or Bonanza...You want cafeteria style, ordered your food and got a number to put on your table, then they brought the food.

I remember Bonanza, I loved it! My mom would take me when I was little and it was such a treat because they had corn on the cob year round (even though it wasn't very good!) I used to love going down the line picking what I wanted.
