Favorite restaurants that no longer exist?

Roy Rogers ..... I loved their Double R Bar burger.

Here on the west coast, we used to have Molly Malone's Fish & Chips, Mr. Steak, and Farrell's Ice Cream Parlors (Farrell's started closing after a plane crashed into one here in Sacramento in the 70's). I think there are still 2 operating somewhere.

I miss those Gino's Giants. Our favorite Gino's was replaced by a Rustler Steakhouse. That was a good place to go as well. I also miss the local York Steak House.

I second Roy Rogers. My husband misses their roast beef sandwiches, I miss the fixins bar. LOL
They still have them at the NJ turnpike rest areas, but it's not the same.

I miss a local restaurant in Bergenfield, NJ called Libs. Nothing fancy, but good food.

For anyone who knows Paramus Park(mall) when I was little, there used to be a restaurant upstairs on the food court level that was like an old fashioned ice cream parlor.
It was always such a treat to eat there instead of just pizza from the food court. I forget the name, I am pretty sure it was a chain.
I have to google..

Farrels! I loved that place! i would love to see it brought back.

whoops didn't read far enough down
I didn;t know that's when they started closing-interesting.

ummm, I miss the Geno Giant:banana: also miss Seafood Shanty:love:

I miss Pizzaria Uno's!!! Pretty much everywhere else around has NY style pizza, and while I love that, I also liked getting the occassional Chicago style from Uno's.

There were 2 here on LI. One close to home, one further away...the one close to home closed about 2 yrs ago, I don't know if the other one is still open or not. I see they are selling the pizzas in the frozen food section of the supermarket, but it's just not the same. I loved the house dressing they had too.

I see 2 of you mentioned Farrell's--we had one in the mall near us. My dad & I were just talking about it the other day.

I miss Houlihan's. They had the best chicken fingers & honey mustard sauce. There are a few in NYC, but they are very expensive.

The only Uno's I knew of were a couple around here and one in Cincy, all of which are out of business.

I know we've still got at least 2 in the St. Louis area, too.

And whoa--Arthur Treacher's...there's a place I haven't thought about in probably 25 years.

I honestly can't think of any I particularly miss right now...it might be nice to have a Pantera's Pizza nearby. There's one way up in north St. Louis, but it's about 45 minutes away and I can't remember if I liked it enough to make it worth the drive! :)

Casa Bonita's BEFORE Taco Bueno bought it from the original family, there is still one in Denver and Tulsa, but they suck now.

And SUBWAY killed all the good mom and pop sub shops around here, what a pity.

Arthur treaturs had the best fish and chips.
Chi chi's in the early days was great.
I loved the seafood at seafood shanty.
We always went to Roy Rogers. I miss that place alot too.

Jack in the box and the Magic pan.

Jack in the box was my first fast food item. I think I was around 10 or 11 before we had fast food.

I don't even remember if they were good or not, but when my mother would get her tax refund we would go to Penderosa or Bonanza...You want cafeteria style, ordered your food and got a number to put on your table, then they brought the food.

There's one in Paramus, NJ, Rt 4 West. It opened up less than 2 years ago, I believe.
It is pricier than it used to be, but still has the great chicken fingers!

New England Oyster House/Lums/Taco Viva/Ranch House Steak House/Howard Johnsons/Pumpernicks/Arthur Treachers/Long John Silvers/Chicken Unlimited/....many others I cannot think of right now.

We have a Roy Rogers down here in Pine Beach, NJ. We also have a combo of Nathans/Arthur Treachers/Kenny Rogers Roasters here in Forked River.

Bay Street seafood... yummy!!!
