I'm curious to know what people think some of the best non-Disney(non-Universal) restaurants are in the Orlando area. Sit down or fast food or whatever. If anyone knows of a good Cuban restaurant, that would be particularly helpful. My boyfriend is obsessed with trying an authentic cuban sandwich while in Florida.

Outside Disney proper? What's that? ;)

It's at City Walk, but we thought Emeril's was amazing.

Agree with you....Emeril's is amazing--we go every year.
Other than that--can't be any help. We do Emeril's and then all Disney restaurants while on our vacation.

Columbia Restaurant in Celebration has Cuban food. At lunch they have a great combination of their 1900 salad and half a Cuban sandwich. Great!

Cafe d'Antonio has great Italian food. It's also in Celebration. Excellent service too.

Not Cuban and we've not been yet but our son and his wife rave about Seasons 52. Somewhere East of WDW I think???

I don't actually know. I think my excitement about the upcoming trip is warping my brain.:)

Thanks, we'll check that out.

I love just about every place on "Restaurant Row"

Cool, thanks for that link. Lots of options. I was stupidly neglectful about making early reservations for Disney places, so we need to have other options.

Inside Disney there is a Cuban restaurant called Bongos in Downtown Disney. I have heard mixed things about this place and have always wanted to try it but never have! They do have a walkup window that serves Cuban sandwiches.

Inside Disney Quest at their food court they have a Cuban sandwich and the ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios has a cuban sandwich. Its more like a pannini and comes with plantain chips. Its very tasty, but I'm not sure how authentic it is!

We LOVE Bongos! We used to go every trip until the kids were born. It sort of turns into a nightclub in the evenings, which isn't really kid-friendly.

Gloria Estafan owns it. It's the only cuban food I've ever had and I enjoyed it.

Hitting the take out window is now a must do each trip! We get a sampling of their appetizers and sit in the outdoor courtyard while the kids get lollypops from the Candy Cauldron.

You can find cuban food in orlando, but you need to go 3 hours south to get true cuban food

Bongo's is fantastic!

Bahama Breeze is good.
We like Tchoup Chop over at the Royal Pacific Resort.

Bahama Breeze is always good. Plus they have a cuban sandwich...

This was going to be my suggestion too!

We really liked the food, it was a LOT cheaper than a meal at Disney would have been, and they had a very extensive menu.
