I'm trying to make a cd for a friend. So far, the only song I have for it is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. What would be some other good choices to put on a relaxing/bubble bath type cd?

TIA.

I can't pick a fav, but my spouse's fav is Fur Elise (Beethoven).

What a nice thing to do! :) I'll cast another vote for Pachbel's Canon in D. That song makes me cry every time! Also, I like Promise from Disney's Millenium Celebration cd, but that has vocals.

Here are a few that I like, some of which are well known. If you can't find them, they could possibly go by other titles.

Morning Mood - Edvard Grieg
Tristesse Etude - Frederic Chopin
Claire de Lune - Claude Debussy
Winter (from the Four Seasons) - Vivaldi
Liebestraum - Franz Liszt
Piano concerto No. 21, Adagio (aka Elvira Madigan) - Mozart
Gymnopedie No. 1 - Eric Satie
Serenade - Enrico Toselli
Aquarium - Saint Saens
The swan - Saint Saens
Overture No. 3 Air - Bach
Concerto for 2 Corni da caccia - Heinichen
Trumpet Concerto in E flat major - Haydn

And if you have the WDW cd that has the music from Impressions de France, you might consider using it :).

Another vote for Pachabel Canon and Vivaldi's 'Winter'. Nice choices. I also like Tallis' Third Tune.

Another vote for Pachelbell cannon in D and Haydn's trumpet concerto (that brings back memories for me as I had to play that for my trumpet exam when I was 13).
Largo from the New World Symphony by Dvorak is also very relaxing.

I love listening to Adiamus, songs of sanctuary (played by the London Symphony Orchestra) conducted by Karl Jenkins. It is a really beautiful calming CD of modern classical style music.

Any of Chopin's Nocturnes, especially Nocturne in E Flat Major
Extase by Henri Duparc
In Paradisum from Faure's Requiem
How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place from Brahms' Ein Deutches Requiem
The Second movement from Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony
Faure's Pavane
Brahms' Lullaby

Hey KristaTX, how funny that you mention Grieg. I'm working on one of his pieces this summer......Ave Maris Stella

I'm also working on a gorgeous Brahms piece......O Schöne Nacht

Heather - I wish we could hear you sing here on the DIS :(. I'm not sure if I'm familiar with those songs, but I'd love to hear them. When I was in choir in high school (17 or 18 years ago - yikes!) we sang a piece called O Shone Nacht. Maybe it's that same one.

Denae

absolutely the best. I like Vivaldi's Four Seasons, too. And anything Mozart from Sir Neville Marriner-Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.

Don't forget Handel's Water Music..

Does it have to be classical. All of George Winston's music is soooo relaxing to me. Piano solos...

Not sure if this would work but I find it so relaxing.
Vince Guaraldi:
Linus and Lucy
Christmas Time Is Here (Intrumental)
Skating
Fur Elise
It isn't true "Christmas Music just nice more Jazz I guess well yeah jazz but very smooth

I just put a copy of the O Schöne Nacht on my server. It's a Windows Media File. I haven't installed an mp3 compressor on my new PC yet. Anyway, you can download it here. I'm pretty sure it's the same song....:D

I'm a huge fan of Guaraldi. I've heard his music referred to as "Impressionist Jazz". That makes sense. For me, his music does evoke images of sun and warmth. Very relaxing.

Rhapsody on a Theme By Paganini -- Rachmaninoff

I can't believe I forgot Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini!
There are so very many songs!

Rhapsody In Blue by Gershwin, which isn't at all 'classical', but I love to chill out with it.....:D

Heather - I listened and that is indeed the same song. Ahhh, the memories :). I still think of this song occasionally and will even sing part of it sometimes. Those words stuck, even though I have no idea what they mean since they are in German :).

I thought of another great song: Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. I just listened to it, and it is such a moving piece. But I am easily moved by music - I just heard on live365.com the Epcot version of Cyndi Lauper's True Colors .

Cool! That was from my rehearsal CD for my summer concert. That's my choir, but from before I joined. I also did that piece in school. It's neat because each part gets its own solo. Which part did you sing?
