Looks like Disney is busy pricing us out of staying on-site. No free dining or room discounts for October, which is when we're visiting, this while they're racheting up the price of "value" resort rooms.

So I would love to hear about your favorite off-site hotels, and what perks they offer. We especially need good shuttle bus services to WDW, reasonable prices around $100/night or lower, and free breakfast would be a nice bonus, although that one is not essential. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I suggest you join us on the Orlando Hotel and Area Attractions board. If you're looking for a shuttle you will need to focus on hotels near Disney Springs. It will be difficult to find one under $100 a night but it is possible.

With all of those requirements, an onsite value resort is your best bet.

The only offsite hotel with a halfway decent shuttle is the Hilton near Disney Springs. It's not cheap.

If you want to save money, your best bet is renting a house. There are tons of them that are very close to WDW for under $100 per night. You'll need to rent a car, though. And pay for parking. Still, even with those costs included, you get the advantage of having a washer and dryer, multiple bathrooms, and enough space for everyone to have some privacy for well under the cost of a moderate resort onsite.

Bonnet creek has a shuttle but it charges a small fee. I've never stayed there but it's worth a look.

I think that you'll be hard pressed to find a hotel in your price range that meets your requirements. You might want to check out Mousesavers. Sign up for their newsletter. They often have discount rates for Disney Springs hotels, many of which have shuttle service for the parks. Some of them have free breakfast buffets.

Just keep in mind that with an offsite hotel, you will lose EMH and FP+ at 60 days. You will have to pay for airport shuttle service. You will be at the mercy of their shuttle service to/from the parks or you will have to pay for Uber. Make sure that you take all costs into consideration. An offsite hotel may not be such a great deal once you factor in the cost of ground transportation, the loss of Disney perks (EMH is a big deal when the MK closes at 7 PM 4 out of the 7 nights you're visiting), and shuttle buses that don't get you to the park in time for rope drop.

I've been looking at the quality suites lake buena vista. It looks nice, and has a shuttle. I only need one night before we check in to an onsite hotel. I found it for $80 on Expedia for the night we need in October. It was more on their own website.

I'm a condo rental fan. We stayed at Orange Lakes last visit, and it was awesome. I paid $123 for a rental for a week, Nissan Altima. (Sat-Sat) 5 park days = $100 parking. A 2BR condo at Windsor Hills, for example, is under $700 for a week in October (inclusive of taxes). So less than $1000 all in. Maybe only a $50 difference from cost of a value, but you can save additional cash by running to the grocery store on arrival and eating breakfast at your condo. Even more if you bring snacks with you, having the fridge and kitchen makes that super easy. And you get WAY WAY more space, plus a screened patio or balcony for enjoying after the parks.

We're staying at a Hyatt nearby that also offers free breakfast. 6 nights is costing us under $600 including taxes/fees.

I am having the same debate for a possible Oct. trip. Usually stay on-site but looking to keep the cost down this time, plus with my kids' ages, we really need more space than a standard room -- a suite at least. Doubletree Suites is a Disney Springs hotel, and the room I was looking at was around $135 per night. Not bad when you consider you get a full living room and bedroom and a little "kitchen" area. Granted, it's not Disney, though.
