Favorite Moment Ever at Disney World?

I took my DD then 12 years old for 7 trip plus cruise. But watching her take surfing lessons @ TL was an absolute blast and my highlight. Her first time surfing- I ran to greet her and carried her surfboard back to start over again. She was so happy and Corky? and his instructors were so enthusiastic @ 6:00am. The trip was amazing - we went w/out my wife or son just the two of us. She was at that age- just before teenage when what dad had to say was actually relevant. Now 4 years later at age 16 I'm taking my 19 year old son and my daughter would be tortured to go to WDW. But one day she'll "come back to me" and remember her Disney trips. For now it is shopping, friends, dance team, and just getting a drivers license.

Here is one that is just being at the right place at the right time.

My wife and I were in line for Expedition Everest. We had just boarded the ride and started up the hilll, when it started to rain. No...actually....it started to POUR!!!!!

If any of you ever get a chance to experience this....DO IT!!! As the ride was in motion, the rain was pelting you in the face, head, legs, arms and we were getting drenched while barrelling down this mountain. The rain pellets felt like bullets hitting us, but we were laughing so hard it just made it funnier and more enjoyable. It turned the ride into an actual water ride.

Of all of the thrill rides I have ever been on, this one was by far the most memorable and entertaining one!!!!!

That happened to me on the Hulk coaster at IoA!! When you board the ride, you're indoors, so you can't tell if it's raining. Then when they shoot you out of the tunnel -- BLAM! Into the hard rain we went! Yes, it did sting all over, but it was a wild ride!! :thumbsup2

My husband and I struggled financially for years due to various reasons beyond our control, while members of our family did very well and took endless trips to WDW. I dreamed of taking our kids there...I entered every contest to win, etc, but no luck! Finally, in 2005, with our bad luck changed and some savings combined with a bonus at work, we were able to take our first trip! It coincided with my DS's 8th and my DD's 13th birthdays! Needless to say, when we hopped off the bus and walked up to the outside of MK, I lost it. I was sobbing uncontrollably, so much so that a castmember came up to me and asked me if I was ok. Mickey was actually outside of the park, in front of the train just past the turnstyles, and he gave me a big hug. I said, "You have no idea how long I waited for this...it is a dream come true!" and he made the kiss-kiss noise and gave me a bigger hug. Then, as we walked in and rounded the corner, we saw the castle! Oh my gosh! I lost it AGAIN!!! I said, "I am laughing, I'm crying, I am having a nervous breakdown!", which my husband captured on video and is now a classic in moment in our family's memory. That first trip was filled with so many magic moments...my son's birthday was awesome, he was picked to open MGM, we ate dinner in the castle for my daughter's birthday, and there was NOBODY in the parks, so we rode everything non-stop! I will never, ever forget for as long as I live the feeling I had when we arrived at MK and I knew my dream of taking my kids there had come true! I know people on these boards go a million times and maybe don't understand how out of reach WDW is for so many families, but we had to save and save and save for that trip (we actually were able to go back last October due to another bonus at work, but we can't afford another trip now for a long while)!!! I swear, if I win the lottery, I am going to set up a fund that gives WDW trips to families who cannot afford them. Every parent should be able to feel that magic!!!:hippie:

Now that is a fantastic story! I so happy your family got to experience WDW! And like you say, sometimes we don't know how lucky we are to even go there once, never mind more often! :cloud9:

My 'moment' would be going back about 10 years now, the last time we went as a family, I was about 12 at the time and my brother was about 9 and we sat for about 2 hours in the blazing sun with our parents to see the parade. It was totally unbearable, I can still remember now! We sat on the curb of Main Street and waited patiently and whilst we were sat there a CM came along and passed me and my Brother a badge each and told us to keep hold of them until the parade started. We didn't have a clue what they were for, but kept tight hold of them! During the parade, the Lion King float stopped right in front of us and a CM came over to get us (as he saw our badges) and we got to take part dancing and playing music on the side of the parade float, it was priceless! My brother didn't know which instrument he wanted to play, he was that excited! A memory all caught on our pictures and it's one that will live with me forever!!

My favorite moment was when we celebrated my four year old's birthday at Disney this past March at Park Fare. She is very outgoing and not afraid of anything. Bold, bold bold probably due to being the youngest of six. When Prince Charming came by we were like, Where is Anna-Cate? Couldn'g find her anywher until we looked under the table. She was hiding with a beat red face. Absolutely speechless and gasp, SHY because her boyfriend was there. It was priceless and worth all the money we spent to have this memory.

Same thing happened to me on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with my mom...I loved it...she didn't...haha! :lmao:

IDK what it is about water and rollercoasters, but it definitely adds an extra thrill! :thumbsup2

I was at Disney with my dad's friend's family. The daughter and I went on Space Mountain with our FP tickets. We found out that there were two separate sides to the ride and wanted to go on the other side as well so we decided to just wait on the standby line. There was an outdoor line and the CM was letting people in slowly. We were right about to go in when he knocked down the stick that is used to measure children. It fell down onto me and scraped up one of my legs really badly so that I actually started bleeding. At the moment it didn't hurt but the CM felt SO bad! He kept apologizing and saying he was sorry and asking if I needed someone from first aid to come by. I assured him that I was okay. He gave my friend and I tickets to go through the FP lane so that we wouldn't have to wait on the standby line (which had gotten much longer at that point). We were absolutely THRILLED that we didn't have to stand on line.

Okay so that probably doesn't seem like a very memorable moment ... but the CM was REALLY REALLY REALLY cute and I was only a teenager in HS.

My favorite moment will always be each time I first walk into the MK. Can't top that...

However, we were in WDW the night the Red Sox won the world series and being from Boston, it was a moment in itself:cool1: . We went to the MNSSHP and right before the fireworks, my brother in law yellled out " the Red Sox won the world series!" The crowd around us went WILD and the fireworks started! It could not have worked out better if we planned it! That will ALWAYS be known as one of the greatest moments in WDW for our family!party:

I have two. One would be my son meeting the Red Power Ranger for the first time. Pure joy!

The other would be when Sleeping Beauty called my son a prince and gave him a big ole kiss on the cheek and left a lipstick mark. It was just too cute!

Allyson :)

I don't know this charming couple, but we were out waiting for our bus in fron t of OKW, and this couple was in a world of their own, enjoying the moment, music and dancing as though no one was there.

My favorite moment happened on our trip this last MAy at Typhoon Lagoon. we were sunning ourselfs and my turned to me a and said " We'll have to remember this spot next year when we come back." Right there I started planning our trip for May 2008.

I have been to WDW 15 times, as a child and an adult, BUT NOTHING, I mean NOTHING brought a tear to my eye (and still does as I type this) quicker then when the Main Street performers moved from my 2 year old daughter's stroller view, and her seeing the castle for the first time, pointing and saying in the sweetest, most little voice, "Mommy, I see Cinderella's castle! It's right there!!!"
So much more happened on that trip, like her seeing and hugging Mickey, and her first ride on "It's a Small World" or seeing Tinkerbell (HER FAVORITE) fly by during Wishes!
But her reaction to the castle has to be the most memorable for my husband and I! And what is bringing us back in April (less then a year from when we went last time!)

I don't know what it was...well I do but...that's neither here nor there. But anyways on my birthday last year, I went with my friend Greyson to visit the World for a week & decided to spend my actual birthday in MK. Before Spectro, I was talking to a very nice CM about the Disney College Program(which I am VERY close to signing up for btw.) & soon after I was called on Main Street in front of everyone as were everyone celebrating their birthday on that particular day. They gave me some mardi gras beads(black & silver which I still have) & began to sing happy birthday to me & the rest of the birthday group. This was pretty awesome as I was just drinking in the atmosphere until I looked to my left & there she was, she was singing too but she had a very familiar face so I stood there with everyone singing to me right in front of the Castle but all I could see was her. When finished I went back to my friend & told him what happened, he shrugged it off saying "nah she doesn't." The next day was the MNSSHP & sure enough I saw her selling balloons during mid afternoon but as I did, he said something funny & when I turned around, she had vanished. I never saw her the rest of the trip but i'm wondering if this year when I go down, if she will materialize again. It seemed like Deja Vu for sure...like i've seen her somewhere before. Nah couldn't be.

One was when me, DD 14, DD 12, and DS 7, were chosen to be guest performers in the parade on Main Street!!! There were 3 groups of 6 people each, and we were in the best group,in our group each person was matched up with a character to dance down MS with!!! We didn't get to choose which character, but my DD 14 was lucky enough to get Eeyore, her all time favorite!!! We were taken backstage (WOW), and taught the simple dance steps, then off we went...we had the best time ever! And afterward we got special pins that are not sold, and say Disney Guest Performer on the back of them!
That same trip, on our last night, we managed to get a rail-side table at the Riverbelle Terrace to watch Fantasmic!.... We bought desserts, and ate while waiting about 45 minutes for the show to start, just chatting about how great our trip had been, and all of our faves, then had a perfect, seated view of the best show Disney has ever had!!!! I LOVE Fantasmic! at DLR, and seeing it like that, with my DH and 4 kids was really a dream come true!!:cloud9:

My most memeorable moment has to be when we went in 2005 for the first
time. We drove which from Ohio is a very long drive. As we are driving under the Welcome to Walt Disney World arch with Mickey and Minnie on each side my DD(6 at the time) looks at me and says Mommy I think I'm going to cry!! Which instantly made me start to cry. At that moment I new that trip was worth every penny we spent on it.:rotfl:

What a great thread!!! I really had to think about this one....would have to be the first trip I went on that I can remember.

I was 7 years old, my family and I were visiting my cousins for a week in summer. (My cousins are really like my brothers, love em to death!)....we were totally clueless when are parents said we were taking a ride in a HUGE mobile home (that belonged to their neighboors at the time).

WE thought we were just going for a ride in the really coooool truck, and my mom started asking me where mickey mouse lived, and I was like huh? Finally....all of us caught on when we looked out the window and saw the Magic kingdom right in front of us...we all started screaming...

I will never forget it. It tears me up thinking about it. pixiedust:

The first thing that comes to mind is being in the hot seat for WWTBAM-Play It! And then there was walking on Main Street and having my DGD(6) say to me "Gramma, I don't know what I would do without you!" Or our last day there on that same trip when DGS(4) -after saying every night he missed his mommy just before falling asleep-That morning as we were packing to take him home to see mommy I told him "guess what Ben-today is the day we get to go home to see mommy! he said "ok gramma, but let's stay just one more day first!" :) He was so torn, he had been having a wonderful time, but it was his first trip away from his mommy and he really missed her! But another day at WDW was worth missing mom for.

I'm sure I will think of many more!
Lori

About three years ago we honored my Dad's wishes and took him to WDW even though he was already in hospice care for cancer. Lots of family attended including our 3 week old new granddaughter.

The magic was watching Wishes at MK with everyone and seeing my dad's face light up as he stared into the sky and my baby granddaugher follow every burst of fireworks as her eyes opened wide.

It had given me great comfort knowing that a place could mean so much to a family and span an age gap of 80 years with its joy and wonder.

Mine involves my boyfriend, Pluto. pluto:

Our first trip was in 1991 before we had kids. DH and I were strolling through Tomorrowland and we saw Roger Rabbit! That's around the time when his movie was big and he was very popular. I, being a bunny lover, had to get a picture with him so I got in line.

Standing next to him was Pluto and no one at all was waiting to see him. Pluto had his ears over his eyes and he was crying. So I jumped out of Roger's line and went over to console Pluto. I told him I would rather see him than some silly rabbit anyway! Pluto gave me a big hug and then took me for a walk around Tomorrowland. People were laughing and pointing and my DH was snapping pictures. Finally, my husband came and said, "Pluto, can I have my wife back?" Pluto shook his head no and gave DH's face a little shove with his hand. We kept walking around and he was pretending to fight off DH the whole time. Finally, Pluto relented and gave me back to my husband.

We had so much fun and I'll never forget my "boyfriend" Pluto. Ever since then, he's occasionally sent me birthday cards with his picture on them (I guess whenever DH can find a Pluto card:laughing: ). Everytime I see him, I ask Pluto if he remembers our "date" in 1991 and he always nods "yes!" (then he probably goes to the break room and asks, "Who's the crazy woman at table 23?").
