Favorite Moment Ever at Disney World?

DH & I had just started dating. He had never been to an amusement park of any kind, had not even been on a carousel. We spent the day at MK (only park then) and he was so happy, so open to everything, it was so neat to see him enjoy it. I had been probably 4 times by then. The moment I remember though, is that is where he uses a term of endearment to me for the first time. I knew I was in love, but didn't know he was. My heart swelled right there. DW is still his very favorite place in the world.

Boy, I should have known better than to read this thread whilst still in the midst of PDD (post Disney depression). I cried tears of joy at least once a day on my trip last week, and now I'm sitting here wishing I was back so badly!

So on this last trip, the absolute best moment was when I looked at DD9 after Wishes on our last MK night, and she had tears streaming down her face and wouldn't talk for fear of sobbing, and I was doing the absolute same thing. And DH said "Don't worry, we'll come back again!" That was an EMH night, and we ended up staying almost till 2 am (with one very tired DS5, even) because we couldn't bear to leave.

Now, I haven't gotten him to commit to if we're going back in 2008 or 2009, but it is at least narrowed down to those!!!

My favorite moment will always be each time I first walk into the MK. Can't top that...

However, we were in WDW the night the Red Sox won the world series and being from Boston, it was a moment in itself:cool1: . We went to the MNSSHP and right before the fireworks, my brother in law yellled out " the Red Sox won the world series!" The crowd around us went WILD and the fireworks started! It could not have worked out better if we planned it! That will ALWAYS be known as one of the greatest moments in WDW for our family!party:

With the exception of being at Fenway, that sounds like the best place to be for the great win. I was on my hands and knees in front of my TV here in TX with my dad in NJ on the phone and we both were hooting and hollering. We were not together but shared that moment.

Go Sox

We had taken the "secret" pathway from Tomorrowland to Toontown to wait by the ropes in front of the train station for Toontown to open. DD was 7 and wanted to be one of the first to enter the princess room in the Judge's tent. We were the only ones waiting at this rope, and a few minutes before rope drop all the characters came out of the tent. Most of the characters went to the main rope by the tea cups, but the Princesses stayed by the tent door. They noticed DD standing there and all smiled and waved at her. When it was time for the drop, the CM was a little late dropping our rope, so the crowd from the main rope was already on their way in. We were still in front of them, however, and I told DD not to run, that she was there first and would be able to walk in with a Princess. Well, to my amazement, mothers started sprinting past us, trying to "save" a Princess for their own DD's, most of whom where still yards behind us. One mother who was trying to get to Snow White, actually pushed past my DD, and nearly knocked her over! Snow White saw this, and walked right past that woman completely ignoring her, took DD by the hand and asked her if she would like to open the Princess room with her. I could have cried! I was so happy that Snow White did not reward that woman's rudeness, and so grateful that she made my DD feel so special. It was a moment none of us will ever forget, and ever since then, Snow White has been our favorite princess! My sig picture is from that morning, and I absolutely love it.

I don't know this charming couple, but we were out waiting for our bus in fron t of OKW, and this couple was in a world of their own, enjoying the moment, music and dancing as though no one was there.

Some great memories here, but I think I prefer this one the best so far! When you see something like this, it's a great reminder that your trip should be devoid of worrying and focused on pure joy! It's been so long since I've been there, but I do remember a similar scene on the momorail over a decade ago, with an old couple embracing like teenagers.... :flower3:
I can't help but think of New York.... I see things like this all the time there, in places that I might otherwise take for granted, and it reminds me how great a place it is for me..... sort of like Disney is for many people here! It's similar for a lot of first timers, as well.... this spring I took a friend from Vancouver for the first time, and the newness of the city to him was so refreshing. The two places that were like the castle for him were Brooklyn Bridge Park (with that amazing skyline view) and walking out of the tunnel at Yankee Stadium..... both mesmerized him!
Some of the other posts have stirred other memories of my own, but I'll save those for later!

My Engagement in March of 2004!!

Hubby and I had been dating almost six years at this point and had been AP's for 5 of them. So... he knew the engagement had to be disney. He took me for a regular saturday down at MGM. At 11am we went to the Beauty and the Beast stage show and sat down. Before the show there is an a-cappella group that comes out to sing for the audience while waiting for the show to begin. Only this time when they came out they called us out by name. I knew something was up at that moment. We were taken onstage where the quartet serenaded us with a love song. After the song was over they handed him the microphone and he proposed in front of everyone! I actually could not hear a word of his proposal. Once the crowd figured out what he was asking they started SCREAMING and CHEERING. We joke around now that he only got down on one knee to ask me for a ham sandwich and he doesn't know how this whole marriage came about! Still, it was wonderful. My best disney memory ever. For the rest of day people kept recognizing us from the show and coming up to congratulate us.

About three years ago we honored my Dad's wishes and took him to WDW even though he was already in hospice care for cancer. Lots of family attended including our 3 week old new granddaughter.

The magic was watching Wishes at MK with everyone and seeing my dad's face light up as he stared into the sky and my baby granddaugher follow every burst of fireworks as her eyes opened wide.

It had given me great comfort knowing that a place could mean so much to a family and span an age gap of 80 years with its joy and wonder.

I loved your memory as I always wanted my dad to see WDW but he passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack before we ever got him there. I know he would have loved it!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I must also post one other memory:

It was when I first moved to orlando. I was at Epcot walking around on a non busy day. My hubby and I were walking and could see a couple character lines closing off. We could see Dopey's spotter leading him away, when Dopey caught site of me (about 50 feet away). Dopey must have recognized me because he started jumping up and down fanatically and pointing in my direction. I watched him for a second before the spotter waved me to come over. Dopey was going berserk. Obviuosly he can't talk but he was jumping up and down and gave me the biggest tightest hug I have ever gotten. He gave multiple kisses and just clung to me for for a couple minutes. My hubby took a few pictures of this. We have a pic of the two of us with Dopey. My hubby to the left pretty much ignored while Dopey has me in a Bear Hug. It was stange because i knew that i had to KNOW dopey... but had no clue as to the true identity. The spotter was keeping other people away by saying we were the last in line, Dopey pointed to my hubby and I told dopey I was dating him and then Dopey started jumping again. Dopey of course never spoke a word. It was weird... but really fun. I spent about 5 minutes with dopey before he had to go, but I will always remember dopey picking me out of a crowd like that.

I still don't know who it was but I have theories. I had gone to a sleepaway camp years before and had a best friend who lived in the Orlando area. I later found out (about 3 yrs after this) she had been a CM and a character to boot. My only guess is that she may have been the one to spot me, she would have been the right size. But I still don't know for sure since I haven't seen her since I was 16.

These stories are amazing, keep 'em coming!

Mine is from the first night on our last trip. We ate at Ohana for the first time after we'd traveled all day. We wound up with a lagoon view table. The food was amazing and watching the sun set over the lagoon was just lovely.

I didn't know what was happening when the lights went down but then the fireworks started, the music came up and it was just magic. Pure magic. When the part about making a wish came on I wished like crazy that our recent attempts to have a baby had worked.

On the last day of our trip we found out that I was pregnant! Our daughter was *this* close to having Ohana as a middle name.

We're heading back to the World and of course to Ohana 2 weeks from today, with our daughter in tow. I'll be mighty surprised if I don't cry then, too.

I agree, they're really putting me in the mood for my trip this November.
I actually didn't know that O'hana had a view of the castle! Congratulations on your premonition fulfilled....

Seeing my DD's (age 13) face when the diver at Coral Reef presented her 13th birthday banner and used the shells at the bottom of the aquarium for confetti!! It was absolutely priceless :)

I don't have kids but I love seeing them excited. Last month my girlfriend and I were visiting Ocean Beach, and while we were walking along the surf there was a girl who was SO happy to be "swimming" in the ocean. One of my favorite moments of that day. I can't wait to see all the kids at Disney!

Gosh, I love these stories!
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get a bonus this year so we can go back!

Why is that place pure magic?!?

ALL of these memories are wonderful- the sad and happy ones! Please keep them coming!

I know we're only supposed to remember one, but...
When my DD(then 5) couldn't eat her lunch at the Princess Meal in Norway because (in her words) "How can I eat until after I meet them? They're so pretty!"

When my DH and I went (pre-kids). Neither of us had been there in over 20 years. Just to make me laugh (or so he says!), he screamed like a little girl THE WHOLE TIME on Space Mountain! I was laughing so hard I was crying! :rotfl2: He even made the girl in front of me crack up! Also, in the Haunted Mansion, we read and/or were told that when you enter the part where the doors are moaning/knocking, if you look down you can see through the tracks to the tunnels. Well, we went on that ride 6 times and never saw the tunnels, but I scared :scared1: the heck out of my DH EVERYTIME after we passed the grandfather clock! Those little girl screams were back! :lmao:

I can't WAIT to make more memories this February, especially since it'll be my DS's first trip!

Has to be the first time we took the kids to WDW. When we got there and walked up to the Castle, to see their faces was priceless. That was back in 1999.

2nd on the list would be taking DW on her first trip. It was when the Castle looked like a cake for the 25th Anniversary. I know a lot of people hated that but we liked it. It was an easy way to "earmark" the occassion.

What I like about these responses is that they are so diverse.... your favorite moment could be watching a child's face, or something to do with being in love, or watching someone else be in love, or being a big kid yourself, whatever. I think maybe this is why Disney is so successful..... most places are either places for kids or places for adults, but Disney is kind of for everyone who lets it be something for them.

Oh, my gosh!!! That is so COOL!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: I would have loved that....to be with hundreds of people at the moment they find out that the "Curse of the Bambino" is finally lifted. Wow. Go Sox!

great thread!! I am sitting here reading all of this trying to remember my favorite moment at DW, it is really hard because we enjoy ourselves every time that we go.

I remember the very first time that I seen the castle- the tears came gushing out. I also remember my sons' looks of pure enjoyment- now that is priceless. Also my husband acting like a kid running around MGM trying to get all of the character's autographs.

A grown man after autographs.... keep that one locked away for an embarrassing "recollection" in the future!

The best moment ever for me was going under the train station, and on to Main Street at MK in 2004. The reason is, DD was born in April 2003, 4 months early. She spent 87 days in the Hospital. I would sit with her and sometimes imagine what it would be like to walk into MK with her. When I walked into MK on New Years Day, with DH, and (Thank GOD!) a healthy DD, it was truly a dream come true. There aren't many moments in life when you realize you are experiencing a dream come true. It was such an emotional moment for me, and I will never forget it.
