Favorite/Dream Resort

I would love to stay at the newly constructed Cabins at Copper Creek at WL. They look gorgeous! I've stayed at Contemporary, WL, POFQ, POR, and upcoming trip is GF, but Wilderness Lodge has the most "themed" feel for me. I can only imagine how luxurious having an entire "cabin" to yourself near the lake must feel, but also being at a Deluxe resort.

If money was no object, I would love to stay at the Contemporary with a Park View Room!

We had a beautiful view of Cinderella's castle from our room at the Contemporary back in 2001 - we stayed 3 nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary before going on a 7-night Disney Magic cruise.

We have only stayed there that one time, all our other on-site trips we've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and really, really like it. It's so beautiful and peaceful, love the landscaping, birds/critters, the walking/jogging path all the way around, food court, etc. etc. It's our favorite.

I would like to try the Grand Floridian but just can't justify spending what they are charging for a room there. Same for Animal Kingdom, it would be wonderful to stay there with a view of the animals but I just don't want to spend that much money per night.

My goal has always been any of the EPCOT resorts with a slight preference to BC. We were booked there for Feb 2018, but a emailed code has made a switch to Yacht Club irresistible. I'm so excited!! If AP discounts make BC cheaper I may switch back, but I doubt it. Anyway, I finally get to stay in an EPCOT resort and am pretty happy about it. :)

If I were suddenly rolling in dough, I'd go back to the Poly, hands down. I used to stay there in the early 90s when I had a good career to pay for it and I've never stopped loving it. Don't get me wrong, I *really* enjoy the All-Stars for their own merits, not just because they're cheap. But the Polynesian is special. It's where I have memories of my Mom, who loved the place, and the atmosphere can't be beat.

To tell the truth, my Dream Big wish is to stay at WDW for three weeks, a different monorail hotel each week. The GF first, then the Contemporary, and finishing up with the Poly.

The only place I've stayed and haven't liked was CBR.

That said, I think my favorite so far is WL. I love the architecture and the boat ride to MK. I went to the last show of Wishes on 5/11 and was back on the dock at WL at 9:31 PM. It was such a peaceful boat ride at night!

The only 2 places I want to stay and haven't yet are AKL (where we are staying next trip) and BC. I may try Poly down the road sometime too. I have absolutely no desire to stay at GF. It's just not my style.

I would be interested to know why you didn't like CBR. That's one that I'm really considering for another trip.

Of the ones I've stayed at, the Polynesian is my favorite. Close runners up are Wilderness Lodge and Yacht Club.

Of the resorts I haven't stayed at, Boardwalk is pretty high on my list, as is Beach Club. I wouldn't turn down a stay at any deluxe resort though.

There were a couple of reasons.
-I didn’t like the decor. I realize this is a matter of personal preference and I don’t recommend that anyone book or refuse to book a place based on someone else’s decorative taste.
-The size was the biggest deterrent for me. I really didn’t realize how big it is. I will say that I’m typically in fantastic shape and distance is no issue, but I was pregnant and it was hot. So I was a grump about walking to the main building.
-Bus Service was abysmal. Our first morning, we got to the bus stop at 5:40 AM (6 AM MK opening). We knew we were unlikely to make RD, but there was a giant crowd waiting for buses, and some of the people had been there since 5 AM! We had a car, so we just drove once we heard someone say that. We passed another bus stop on our way out - same situation (huge crowd). We took an afternoon break and tried the bus again. A bus came after a few minutes, let some people off, but didn’t let anyone on. Pregnant me wasn’t willing to wait around and see what happened, so into the car we went again. We never tried the buses again after that.

We really enjoyed the food court, but I know that doesn’t exist any more. The room and beds were comfortable too.

Thanks so much for explaining. I understand the decor thing, a beachy/Caribbean theme isn't for everyone. We enjoy cruising in the Caribbean so that theme is great for me. And I love the idea of being able to relax in a lounger on a beach. :) I see by the map that it is a large resort, but probably similar to POR and there is quite a bit of walking involved there but we enjoy it. But, I'm not pregnant when we go. :) And we typically go during the month of January (did a trip once in September, too hot and humid, and once in March and it was okay but more crowded than I was used to) so it's not as hot and humid. I can understand about the bus service problem too during a busy time. Usually not a problem when we go in January, at times we have been the only people on the bus.

You said the food court doesn't exist anymore, is it because of the construction that they are doing at that resort right now? I would imagine there will still be a food court once they're done though, won't there? I love the food court at POR and can't imagine not having one.

The trip I'm contemplating reserving a room at CBR would be a year from February, so probably a little busier than January but still not as busy as spring break/summer/Christmas times.

Wow, this is like asking which child you like best . . .

For a non park trip (yes, even with an AP I do this once in a while) I prefer WL or FW. It feels like you are nowhere near Florida and is a real escape.

I usually end up in the Epcot resorts area if staying deluxe, at one of the PO resorts if staying moderate and AoA or Pop if staying value. We stayed a lot of years on the monorail when there weren’t any alternatives, so we don’t stay there as often anymore. I like the monorail resorts well enough though, especially for the larger rooms.

I will say I prefer a resort with a water feature, so AKL/V are not a favorite for that reason.

I think there is supposed to be some kind of food court, but I haven’t kept up on the construction at CBR. I don’t know when it will be finished or what it will entail.

If money was no problem I would stay in a 2 bedroom villa for 2 weeks at GF.
I have stayed at GF, got a pixie dust upgrade to a theme park view and fell in love! Everything about GF I love ❤️.
I have stayed in a 2 bedroom at OKW and loved the rooms size, the jacuzzi tub, the kitchen and having a washer n dryer.
Our trip next year will be a week during Christmas at CR, theme park view, honestly I'm staying because of the location that pool don't look amazing at all lol

If money was no object I would stay in the main building of the Grand Floridian with a theme park view room. It's something I've always wanted to experience (although I don't have high hopes for achieving it! :) ) Recently I've really been wanting to stay at Wilderness Lodge for the holidays. That resort just gives off such a home for the holidays vibe!

Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favorite (followed by Port Orleans Riverside) but I'm currently dreaming of a stay at Wilderness Lodge!
