Favorite Crew Member?

Hey, Joanne...check the date of myfourkitties cruise....is was 11/02/02.....Sean was on vacation on the 1/4/03 Magic and I don't think he is back from vacation yet, at least none of the more recent cruiseers have said that he was.

MJ

Sorry! I keep making that mistake....thanks for the clarification! (I wonder when he comes back?)

Our dining room servers were so fabulous. Arvind from India was our main server and his suggestions were always perfect. He was quiet but had a wry sense of humor and was very professional.

Collin from Trinidad, the assistant server was a hoot. He teased me mercilessly when I finished every bottle of wine each nite. Kinda made me feel like an alkie! He doted over DD and called her sweetie as if he were saying her name. He was obviously a playboy and got along great with the entire family. They also played wonderfully off each other. I was really kind of surprised not to see their names mentioned earlier.

Kirk was our cabin attendant and he was the sweetest guy. I don't think we really asked too much over and above from him, but he always had a kind word to say to us in the hall or whenever we saw him.

Guest Services was kind of a bad experience for me, and the doctor in the infirmary - well, all I can say is that I cannot believe she works on a ship full of kids (even tho I know Disney does not technically employ her.)

I also know the crew at Common Grounds are exceptional.

Laura, from the 1-4-03 Magic

Doctor Bernie on the Disney Wonder is terrific! Coming from WDW and the cold/torrential rains gave me and DH upper respiratory infections and strep (me). He was compassionate, professional and took his time. We weren't quaranteened to our rooms but we sure didn't feel like being around people. We were very thankful for a variety in the room service menu also!

These CM comments have been great! We're about to go on cruise #4, and have had good to very good server teams, but we'd like to try and get ones this time from the (pretty large) pool of names in this thread. How and when do you go about requesting a certain server team?
Thanks,
Buzz

There is time during the first few hours of embarkation where you will see in the Navigator -Dining Changes. Just go to where the Navigator says and request the server. Very easy and according to one server we are fond of, they LOVE being requested!!

Always nice to have a familiar face - just like extended family members!

Rae

We just booked for March 1st, how about you?
We have already sent our request for our server with our payment to dreams..this is a surprise for the kids, who haven't seen each other for 6 months, hope DCL gets out the pixie dust and grants us our wish!!!!

Does anyone know if John and Tibor are still a server team on the Magic? John was from Scotland and Tibor from Hungary. I think Tibor was moving on to other things because of his wife and children back home, but wonder if John is still there. Our kids had the time of their lives on our Eastern cruise in June 2001, but when we asked them right after the cruise what was the best part....they thought about it and very quickly said our waiters! That is quite a compliment. We are cruising again 5/24 Western and want to make sure that experience is repeated. This thread mentions someone named John, don't know if that is the same one or not. Otherwise, we'll use this thread to request another great team of servers. Thanks!

CaliforniaMom.....the John that was mentioned earlier in the thread is John from Wales.....he is part of cruise staff that hosts pool activities and games shows, deck parties, etc.

John from Scotland was/is part of the dining staff....different person.

MJ

Just got back on 2/1 from the Magic.
Gabriella @ Palo's - fantastic
Jeff and Fidelio @ dueling pianos made the cruise for us.
John Cunningham- Head Server- always made a point to check on us.
Chris from England at Guest Services - very funny and very helpful.
Robin from the cruise staff- still calling bingo and he is a riot.

Just back from the 1/25 Magic --
We had a great serving team - Fitz from Jamaica and Ferdi from the Philippines. The very first night I asked for "real" butter. Every night afterward, Ferdi had "real" butter waiting on the table for us. Ferdi also kept us supplied with endless refills of Coke and chocolate milk for the girls. Fitz kept DH supplied with a never-ending supply of seafood.

Had Wayan from Indonesia for our stateroom host. Great job, there, too. Towel animals every night and a nice clean room.

After last year's Magic cruise and having just "so-so" servers, we were in for a very pleasant surprise this time.

(Hi - 4Cruisin....we were in line right ahead of you waiting to embark. Glad to read you had a good cruise!)

Jugalava,

Glad to hear that things went well for you on the cruise. Our stateroom host was not the best, but it was still a great cruise.
Actually booked another one while on board!!

Great to hear my son's favorite is there still - Fidelio!!
He is an exceptional piano player and just a heck of a lot of fun for the kids (especially the big ones! ; )

We had a fabulous time on the Magic! I passed on several of these messages (as well as this website) to some of the crew. We had Roberto/Adem for our dining room servers (for the second time) and they are wonderful! They remembered me immediately and asked about my family (I traveled with a friend on this cruise). They also remembered some of my preferences from my previous cruise (amazing). SueEllen: I wrote down your comment about Roberto and gave it to him. He said that he remembered the crayon puzzle mind bender games and tried to remember what you looked like. I don't know how they remember the hundreds of guests they serve! Roberto will be returning home at the end of this month.

Andrew from Palo's is very personable and knowledgeable. He also has a great sense of humor. He was very excited to hear the comments about him on this board.

CaliforniaMom: we had Tibor as our head server on our last cruise. On this cruise, he was home in Hungary, but will be returning sometime in the next couple of months as a server. I think he's great too!

I went to the Dueling Pianos sing-along on the last night. Jeff and Fidelio are a riot! One of them mentioned the fact that he hopes that Dueling Pianos will continue and that if we enjoyed the show, that we should let Disney know.

All in all, I believe that the crew do an excellent job and strive to bring magic to all the guests.

Thx for sharing Maleficent! Those CMs deserve recognition if we're still thinking about our cruise 6 months later!

To all, what's going on in evening entertainment? All I've heard about is bingo with Robin?

Therre are all sorts of venues during the evening hours...

Promenade Lounge:
next to the Internet Cafe open room, has live entertainment.

Sessions:
in the Beat Street area of the ship. Has a warm comfy atmosphere with overstuffed chairs, floor lamps and piano.

Off Beat:
where Dueling Piano's have their fun. Live entertainment, a wonderful mixture of comedy & pianos.

Rockin' Bar D:
DJ or live band music. They use this area for multiple things for example; "The Mating Game", adult Scavenger Hunt, John Travolta and Gloria Gaynor impersonation contest, plus they have various theme nights where something is always going on. This bar has a smoking area.

Studio Sea:
family entertainment from audience participation game shows to trivia contests.

Walt Disney Theater:
there is a nightly show in this theater.

Buena Vista Theater:
a smaller theater where they have current movies showing 4 to 5 times daily. They also use this theater for live action shows and guest speakers.

Internet Cafe:
open 24 hours

ESPN Sport Bar:
big screen TV's snacks and smoking area.

dianedisney....your post made me giggle!!!! I have visions of the "Mating Game" and I don't think Disney would approve!!! It's actually called "Match your Mate" but I like your name better!!!

We have seen this game show a few times and it cracks me up everytime. So much depends on how far the contestants are willing to go with their answers!!! Also the CM from the Cruise Staff that hosts the show makes a big difference as well. Some are much funnier than others!!

MJ

Boy.....did I goof up on that title, Match Your Mate does sound alot more "Disney". Hope I didn't mislead a bunch of singles out there. Thx MM37.;)
