I couldn't sleep last night, so I turned on the TV a little before 3:00. Purple Rain was on one of the stations. I LOVE that movie. It is SO 1980's and the music is great! HOWEVER, the acting is horrible and the story line is stupid, yet I think this is a great movie and I watch it whenever I happen upon it.

So, what's your favorite bad movie?

Oooo, I love Purple Rain, too--it is so '80's! I love the movie The Cutting Edge--it's about this snotty ice skater who has a love/hate relationship with her new partner, the former ice hockey star! It's cheesey and cliched, but I just have to watch it when it's on! "TOE-PICK!"

Roadhouse

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

I love the 80s teen flicks, out of sheer nostalgia: Weird Science above all the rest.

Another one I have to mention is Soapdish, which did badly at the Box Office, but has to be one of the funniest films ever made spoofing the Soap Opera industry.

Highlander ...the first movie....You can tell it was made very cheaply but I just love that movie...don't tell my kids that mommy loves a movie where everyone gets their heads removed!

DW thinks ALL of my movies are bad :)

but I might have two that qualify as bad movies that I like......

the first one is "Strange Brew; The Adventures of Bob and Doug McKenzie" which is about two Canadian hicks, errr Hosers, and their search for free beer. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas play Bob and Doug.

The other is called "Midnight Madness" about four teams of college students on a scavenger hunt around Los Angeles. Starring David Naughton (The "wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?" guy for those of you over 33) and Michael Fox (he didn't use the J. back then; I believe this was his first role). The cast also includes Stephen Furst and that skinny guy who plays the geek in every movie that has a geek in it, but I have no idea what his name is (sorry skinny geek guy). Pee Wee Herman even has a small role in the movie.

"A stream-of-consciousness dialogue between playwright/actor Wallace Shawn and director/actor Andre Gregory, as it unfolds over dinner in a posh NYC restaurant. 1981"

Most of you are too young to have ever heard of this. It was a very pretentious "art film" in it's day. My brother had it on video (he never got around to watching it) and gave it to me.

My favorite thing was pulling it out to show someone who thought they wanted to see it. I honestly don't know if I ever watched it all of the way through as it was torture to watch.

Favorite line:

"Happiness is waking up in the morning and not finding a dead roach in my cold coffee".

My Dinner with Andre

Oh now I have a bad one. Grease 2 with Michelle Pfeiffer and Maxwell Caulfield. It's so bad it's good. And frankly it's criminal how beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer is.

I love bad "horror" movies :)

Anaconda, Arachnaphobia, all the Tremors movies, Lake Placid.......and so on!!
:teeth:

S&K'smom............Grease 2 is a fabulous movie........i love it, love it, love it!!!!

I have a few that I absolutely loved, but time has not been nice to them...

I'm another one with "Grease 2". I could not get enough of that one when it was on cable back in the 80s.

"Mannequin" was another one. Perhaps Kim Cattrall's first acting role. I love Meschach Taylor in that movie.

"Teen Witch", a Disney Channel movie from the early 90's. The star was Robyn Lively, and it's about this girl who finds out she's a witch (nothing like Harry Potter) and she seeks revenge on all the cool crowd who treated her poorly!

BTW, I was one of those who didn't see "Endless Love" when it was around the first time. Icaught it on late night TV last year and gosh, that was a horrible movie!

Oh God I just thought of another one. Blue Lagoon II. I actually sat through it once. I think I was into self mutilation that day.

How could I forget Mannequin? Ah, the golden days of J Wannamaker's... Every time I hear the song, Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now, it makes me think of that movie, and I smile.

I thought of one. (I know there are more but my mind is blank.)

There is a made for television movie which airs frequently on the Family Channel called "Night of the Twisters". I don't know why, but DH and I have watched that dumb movie about four times now. It's getting to be a tradition. LOL. The 10 year old has even started watching it with us.

This is too funny! When we were in Russia, craving English-speaking programs, my DH and I both got excited when the library in Bryansk had the movie Son-in-Law!

Nothing But Trouble. Great cast, too bad they all agreed to do this movie. WHAT A FLOP, Couldn't be worse, yet I must watch. LOL

Two of my faves have already been mentioned - Cutting Edge and Teen Witch.

I also love Just One of the Guys with Joyce Hyser. Its terrible but I must watch it. Its about a girl who thinks her teacher discriminated against her writing because she's a girl so she dresses up like a guy and goes to another school.

Cry Baby with Johnny Depp! The Cutting Edge is also very good! I must love bad movies, because I like all the ones listed here so far! :o :p ;)
