I'm trying to decide which value to stay at. I've stayed at music twice (in late 90's), sports (03) and pop last May. I was wanting to do movies since I've never stayed there, but it seems to be liked the least. So which one is your favorite and why? Thanks.

sending a vote for All Star Music.

After a very disapointing and lack luster stay at Pop we headed to ASmu for our next trip.

We loved the new rooms! As soon as we walked in we felt like we had recieved twice our money's worth compared to Pop. The new decor, furniture, linens, and features like privacry curtain and small coat rack blended so well together. The rooms factored in with the pool side activites, games, and nightly movie really sold this resort to us.

We recieved just as good of transportation compared to Pop and preferred the offerings at the food court.

I would love to give Movies a try but not until they renovate their rooms, we can get more for our money at the other 3 values in that department.

We usually travel during off weeks of the year and never have an issue running into tour, school, cheer, sport, dance, etc. groups. If we traveling during an event like Pop Warner, we'd probably "suck it up" and stay at Pop for the week.

All Star Music is my favorite value resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

All Star Music just underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

DH and I enjoy the landscaping and peacefulness of All Star Music.
We enjoy relaxing by the pool (there are plenty of chairs and lounges), and the beautiful lighting at the resort by night.

I am 57 years old and travel several times a year for pleasure. I often stay at 3and 4 star and sometimes a 5 star hotels and motels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
Staying at an All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary
.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Movies share and Music has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The pools at The All Stars are very kid friendly.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

Here are a few pool photos.

All Star Movies Mickey Pool.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.

My last 7 visits have been at The All Stars and during the fall of 2005 when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3(at the time) for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have fun at Disney!

do a poll

movies comes in second only to Pop Century or did.

lots of people love movies.

they have done the rehab at Music, working on sports, so movies will be done - maybe starting this year?

Music has always been my favorite because A) it's the quietest of the 4, and B) it has the most rooms very close to the parking lots. I prefer the Broadway section, bldgs 7-8. One caveat - ASMU is laid out in a long, straigh line, so Broadway, Country Fair, and Rock Inn are pretty long walks from Melody Hall. I don't mind, because I always have a car.

Movies would be my second fave, with Sports and Pop Century tieing for 3rd.

Thanks everyone. And we have two little ones 8 and 3 and I think they would enjoy the themes at Movies a lot.

pop century - we like the 50s building, top floor, facing the lake - quiet, nice view of what disney will look like after the apocalypse... :rotfl:

seriously - we love it there, and have fun taking long range, close-up photos of the legendary years resort from the balconies, up against the fence (where security tends to watch you), from the shrubbery on the bridge...

we like the food court, the theming, the shadow boxes in the lobby, the walkway with signage of each year - we just like it there best!

Thanks everyone. And we have two little ones 8 and 3 and I think they would enjoy the themes at Movies a lot.

We stayed at POP in 2005 and enjoyed it very much. We also want to try Movies in June 2009. My DS(who will be 8 at the time) is requested that resort. 101 Dalmations bldg or the Sorcerer's Bldg. I am just hoping Movies will be next in line to have some room renovations similar to ASMU and Sports.

Ive been to Movies twice and Pop 4 times.. Honestly Movies is my favorite of the two..

why??

First off I may be a LITTLE biased as I stayed at ASMo on my first trip to WDW in 2000 :goodvibes and I absolutely loved it.. I had not one bad thing to say about it..

Since that time I tried a moderate which was ok, but thats all it was, OK..

then I went back to Movies, again because I truly loved it..

since that time Ive been to Pop 4 times.. the first time I did like it alot.. for several reasons.. it was newer, everything was updated.. I loved the atmosphere and the icons brought back so many memories.. I loved that this resort had buses all to themselves..

However since that first time I went to Pop, my feelings for it have diminished.. mainly because it seems every time I go there, no matter whether I check in early or late at night we get a room that seems to be the furthest out.. I know if I want closer I need to book a preferred room and at first felt that the reason we were getting bad room choices was because we checked in late.. however the last 2 times we went we got there early and needless to say still got horrible rooms as far as being furthest out.. I didnt have this problem at Movies.. both times got great rooms.. Also with Pop Ive noticed the last few times that they seem to be getting more crowded and the lines for the buses are just horrible.. We went to WDW in Feb and stayed at Pop.. one night while leaving Magic Kingdom the bus line actually ended at the area where you can get on the boats if you are staying at those resorts.. not sure if you are familiar with this area but the POP bus stop is the furthest one out.. The line was HUGE!!! all other resorts were bringing one bus in at a time, but POP was bringing 3 buses at a time and packing them like sardines.. every 5 minutes there were 3 more buses!! and it still took us 20 minutes to get to the front of the line, which I am amazed that this was all we waited.. but man was that line huge.. Ive never seen it that huge..

Now I havent tried Music or Sports and that is on my to do list for future visits but if I had to choose between the 2, I would choose Movies.. I told my DH on our last trip that I think that was our last time to Pop..

We have stayed at Movies & POP...Our family MUCH prefered MOVIES. My kids definately could related more to the theming. We really enjoyed our stays at the Movies. :)
