Fat Girls Walking Club

Hey Girls,

Choco- You will be fine at the EE. Remeber you have all of us thinking good thoughts for you.:yay: We are behind you all the way!
But I need to know if your name is one of Hello Kitty's friends. I love HK!

I think we are already a success just for doing what we are doing.

We leave in 6 days and some hours. I can't wait to go to WDW.

Keep moving forward.

Annette :)

Hi I just came across this thread when I seen it on someones siggy, but when is the EE marathon or walk? I dont want to participate cause im in no shape but I will be at Disney Sept. 20-26 and would like to maybe catch some of it and see what it is all about.

I have however been walking 1 1/2 miles with my friend 5X a week and feel pretty good.

Hey All!
I've had a great week, I've picked up my walking pace and increased my length of time. My thighs are a bit tight tonight but I'm hoping that will fade as I get use to the longer walks.
Tues = 58 minutes, Wed = 50 minutes, & today Thurs = 66 minutes.

ChocoKat ~ I agree w/Nikki you don't want to overdue it, listen to your body. You'll do great at EE. :thumbsup2

Nikki ~ I hope your foot is feeling better soon, wow you didn't even let your wort removal stop you from your interval training. :flower3:

Disneyluv ~ Keep up the great walking, you can do it sister. TOT can't wait to hear about that too. If the pain persists... well you know what you need to do. :rolleyes1

Annette ~ You must be getting really excited too. EE is right around the corner now. I can't wait to hear all about it. :3dglasses

Have a great night.
Keep moving forward!

Walk on. :cool2:
Chris

Thanks for the encouragement everybody!!! It really means a lot. I knew I could count on you!:grouphug:

I was grounded again yesterday, my shins kept feeling wonky all day and after a lot of agonizing (for no reason really :rotfl2: ) I decided to let them rest properly and just work on thinking my way through the course and figuring out my pacing.

This morning my right shin (the one that has REALLY been bothering me) woke up juuust fine! Yay!!! But my left one is still feeling a tad off :headache: I keep doing my toe raises and stretches to remedy the situation, and it seems to be working  .

I think I will go to the weight room today and just to upper body strength training. I'll be very mindful of my shin and by tomorrow it should be all healed up.

Also, my new bathing suit got in... it is a tad loose :lmao: but it made me happy! :rotfl2: my new sports bra should get in this afternoon, can't wait to try it!!!

Oh, and YES! It is ChocoKat from Hello Kitty, I love HK too, Badtz Maru the penguin is so cute too!

Haha! I just convinced most of my team to do a 5K in November for charity at work. :cheer2: Once the fitness bug bites you... it doesn't let go! I am also trying to gather some friends to register for the Princess 5K, looks like loads of fun!

Keep moving forward ladies!!!

Hey there and welcome!!!
The EE is the afternoon of the 27th, and you need party tickets to get in if you are not participating. Still there is plenty of ladies here that will be attending, so we'll make sure to let everybody know how the race went and take loads of photos!

1 1/2 miles are not bad at all! Keep going at it, maybe you should try the Princess 5K in March, that one you can walk I believe, the EE5K has a 16 min mile requirement :headache: so you have to walk REALLY fast to do it.

Welcome :)

That is great that your are walking 5x times a week. :cheer2: This is what we do- we support each other. I'm glad you found us.

The EE has a pace requirement of 16 minute miles and the Princess 5k has a requirement of 15 minuted miles. Both are 5k(3.1 miles). But finishers get medals at both. The medals are awesome. Last year we did Tower of Terror 6.5k and the medal was the attraction with a elevator on a spring.

Hope everyone has a great day and KEEP MOVING FORWARD :)

Annette

I hope my new sports bra gets in today :cool1:
My shins are doing well, the left one STILL off, so weight room it is!
If I log back in and I didn't go, you have my permission to wag your finger at me for bad behaviour :lmao:

Last night was workout 1 of week 2 for my 5K training. This was the walk 2 min/run 1 min, repeat 10 times. Wow! For a while there, I felt like I was going to slip into another dimension. Criminy that was hard! BUT, I did it! My trainer even came by and talked to me for a minute while I was running (which gave me a chance to do the "talk test" to be sure I wasn't overdoing my speed) and was very impressed (he doesn't run, either).

Not sure it was a good idea to do the run the day after my 1 hour trainer appointment, but such is life. I feel a little funky today, but I don't feel bad. Tomorrow will be the next workout for this week, which will be an actual outdoor run, so we'll see how I fare when I'm not on the treadmill.

tolemommy - That a LOT of walking! Way to go!

chunky - Welcome! Sounds like you're doing great, getting out there 5x a week!

Go Magix! Go Magix!

Ladies, I got my sports bra in... and I have to say...:dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :cheer2: IT ROCKS!!!

It is very snug, so if you ever order one like it, make sure you measure properly, I am SO glad I did!!! There is NO BOUNCE!!! And this is coming from a DD!

I have been hopping around with joy for the last 5 minutes :rotfl2:
It is like a piece of armor, but looks great to wear on its own even.
I FINALLY feel secure, I am gonna go on ahead and order another :cheer2:

I sound like an infomercial :rotfl2: back to regular programming :happytv:

chunky_azz- It is great to have you onboard! Sounds like you doing an awesome job with you walking!

tolemommy- One of the main reasons I did my run after getting my wart removed was because we are having company in from out of town and I don't see myself getting any runs in until Sunday night and that would have just been too long without a workout!

ChocoKat- great job on the training! I"m glad you like your new sports bra!! I know how hard it is to find clothing (especially bras) that fit like a glove!! Go on and advertise all ya like! Word of mouth is the best!

Magix- Good luck with the outdoor run! Be glad your not living in Michigan! We have had rain ALL day!

Have a great weekend everyone and keep on moving!!!

Thanks Nikki!

OK gals I need a drum roll please... my shins were doing good and my sports bra had me aching to go try it out, so I went running and... I made one mile in... 15:32!!!

Woot!!!
I had never done it under 16:40 before, so I am SO proud of myself!!! After that I decided to cool off, and went grocery shopping with DH.
I was so happy!!! :yay:

I have to say I was so close to give up, but thanks to your encouragement as a group I decided I could do it :flower3:. Thanks so much!
Lets keep on moving forward!!!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. We wont be there on the 27th, but now that I found this thread maybe next time I can catch it and work my way up to doing that. I havent done a thing since high school and Im ready to lose some weight and we started out small and are up to 1 1/2 miles and it kicked our rears the first few weeks and now we breeze thru it and are about to do 2 laps of the town and make it 3. I feel soooo much better.

Good Morning Everyone,

Choco-great job on breaking the 16 minute mark :)

Off to work today! I'll have to do the epilttical (sp?) since it's still raining here.

Annette :)

You girls rock! Chocokat, great job on the under 16 min. mile. That is hard. We have less than 2 weeks before the EEC, I can't wait and would leave right now if I could sneak away!

Thanks guys!!!
Joy, I wanna go already too!!! :rotfl:
Today I am still trying to pick between elliptical or outside training, trying to get a feel for my shins and all. I want to make sure they are in tip top shape for the EE5K, can't risk being injured now.

Alright! Went for a 5K walk this evening, the weather was pretty nice out, I had a couple of snags during it all, first I had to readjust my shin bandages, then we had an invasion of miniature frogs all over the sidewalk!!! :rotfl: I am not kidding ya'll! :rotfl2: They were everywhere, I didn't want to commit froggicide, so on the first go round of the loops we make we spent 5 minutes hopping through teeny frogs :scared: we then just walked on the asphalt the whole way after that.

Yay for unused nice roadways! :rotfl:
Then DH accidentally reset our stop watch, so I couldn't figure out my time anymore for the whole course :headache: I was sooo frustrated, since it happened right at the middle too!

Ah well, I finished the whole thing with no pain and plenty of energy to go around an obstacle course and scavenger hunt, so we are getting there.

Keep Moving Forward!!!

Hello All,
It sounds like everyone had a great weekend! I took Saturday off no walking, just worked on my 2007 Disneyland Half Marathon scrapbook some more. It is turning out great. My sister made it & gave it for me to fill w/my DLHM pictures & memories last year before the DLHM.

Today Sunday was filled w/household chores & yard work. I counted my yard work as my exercise today, I mowed the lawns, weeded, and raked. Friday I walked another 62 minutes. I am going to start keeping track of time & distance so I can calculate how long it is taking me to walk a mile.

ChocoKat - Do you mind if I ask what brand of bra you ordered is & website? I sure could use a new piece of said "armor," that would keep my girls from jiggling, ok now I'm giggling. :rotfl: WOO HOO save the frogs, more giggling froggicide. I am glad your shins are feeling better and that you were able to finish your 5K walk pain free.

Magix - Great job on your workout keep it up GF, YOU ROCK & thanks! We can do this!

Chunky - Welcome!

Joymouse - Can't wait to hear all about EE, how excited you must be getting.

Annette - Bummer you had to work today, I hope you still had a great weekend, you must be getting very excited about EE too.

Fitness - if it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body. ~ Cher

Walk On :cool2:

The sports bra I ordered is an Enell one.
I ordered from here, it was the cheapest I found, and it was wonderful.
Most other places have it for $58 and up.

It really straps you in tight, at first I thought I ordered the wrong size, but no, it was right and snug and the girls are kept in place. Make sure you follow the sizing charts and that you measure yourself properly before pressing the check out button. I really cannot recommend it enough, great product!:yay:

Good Morning Everyone,

So, for those of us doing the EE, are you getting the clues?
We have gotten 3. The only thing that I am really freaked out by is the obstacle course. Climbing, balancing and crawling. Anyone have any idea what might be in store for us? I can't believe I paid someone money for this kind of torture. :rotfl2:

I don't work until 3 today, so I've time to work on packing. You'd think since we leave in less than 100 hours, I'd be done by now.

Have a great day and Keep Moving Forward :)

Annette

We have gotten all the clues so far.
I am worried about the obstacle course as well, but since it is suppossed to be fun I think it shouldn't be too bad. I am trying to make sure that i have enough energy after 5K to do some crazy climbing and then go on to finish the scavenger hunt.

Today I'll just walk a bit, and tomorrow I'll have another 5K paying more attention to the pacing plus an extra mile to see how much stamina I'll have left. Wow your cruise is just around the corner!!! How fun! I won't be getting to mine until February :rotfl: it'll be my very first DCL or any cruise by that matter.

I need to start thinking about packing lists, mousekeeping envelopes, etc. I think DH already handled our Boma breakfast ADR, I can't wait to try it for breakfast  . I am so excited, I just love the AKL, one of my favorite resorts!!!:dance3:
