Fat Girls Walking Club

Nikki- great idea about taking a snack with me to the gym! I took one with me today and it worked! NO FAST FOOD!!! I never realized my body DEMANDS to be fed after every workout. It seems so counter productive to take food to eat when you're going to burn off calories. But I guess if it's healthy food it's okay.

I made the decision to do Slim Fast for a while until I can get rid of these awful cravings. I don't know how I feel about it long term, but I need something quick and convenient since I'm taking care of my little ones all day. I figure it will at least help me lose a few pounds to where I have more energy and will feel like actually planning meals, grocery shopping, then coming home to cook. Anyone else doing Slim Fast or have tried it?

While doing my intervals on the treadmill today I decided to see how long I could run on my last one. I ran for 5 minutes straight! That is a serious personal record. I've never done that before. I'm still excited about it! Hope I don't pay for it too much in the days to come.

Thank you all for being so encouraging! I love my FGWC!

Ok so even while I was out of town on a mini vacation I still got a work out in!!

I'm so proud of me!! I worked out this morning in the gym at the hotel we were staying at. I did 15 minutes on the elipitical and 15 on the bike. I felt really good when I got off and I think it might have been the little break my joints needed! I'll be back on the street tomorrow morning putting in the miles!!

I have this week off from work so I should have NO excuses about not exercising!

Great job everybody!!!

I did just 30 minutes on the recumbent bike on a high setting, my shins splints are STILL bothering me. I was feeling restless so while DH took the car down by the gym I had a little walk and even though I wasn't suppossed to... I ran for the very last teeny bit of my way to the gym :rolleyes1 it felt so good though... I even dreamed of running... I swear! It is insane! :scared1:

To calm myself down until my shins are back up to speed and because today I HAVE to rest my legs, I did some research online for plus sized running clothes and sports bras.

I went shopping some on Friday night, but didn't find anything! All the bras out there for 42DD are sooo not helpful, there is bouncing everywhere :headache: . So I made several searches online and I found this Enell sports bra that is suppossed to be the very best.

I got one for $54 smackers :scared: I mulled it over for a whole day before I actually ordered it, but if it works it would be so worth it, and all the reviews rave about it, so I did it.

My new swimsuit from speedo should be here next week :woohoo: I can't wait to try it out at the pool. I think I'll challenge DH to a couple of rounds of wii sports to try and do some working out without messing my legs up.

Keep moving forward ladies! Way to go!!!

Happy Sunday night everyone. I did well with my eating tonight, well, sort of... I ate BBQ with the family, but left off the bun and had salad with it instead of chips. I guess that made my happy enough, that I felt like the choco. cake wouldn't be too bad. At least I didn't eat the cake and the bun and the chips like I would normally do. I did walk this afternoon and did some gardening too. Have a great week everyone!
Joy:grouphug:

Day 2 of NO FAST FOOD! :cool1:

Walked 45 mins at gym.

I'm feeling more confident about my 5k planned for December.

Great exercise reports. Especially exercising at the hotel. That's always a little intimidating for me. Glad to see you did it!!!

ChocoKat- did you happen to find any exercise pants that would fit a size 22 during your research? I'm in desperate need.

Great job Magix!!

I did 2 miles in 34 minutes today. I was so excited. I need to learn to start out slower. I just want to jump right in without pacing myself.

Have a great night and Keep Moving Forward!

Wow girl you are cruising!!! Way to go! I agree, you don't want to burn out in the beginning, walk you race & pace, and you'll be just fine.

Walk On! :cool2:
Chris

Annette,

I did get married at WDW in March of 2007 (wedding pavilion and reception at the Living Seas and Dessert Reception at France Lower)

The pain in my foot is different than led foot. It is actually like a bone on bone feeling. I know it is probably just from running becuase I haven't done it in SOOOO long!! At least I have jump start on diagnosing my injuries becuase I work at a Physical Therapy Clinic and am going to be going to school next year to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Nikki,
SHUT UP! You got married at WDW and had your reception in the Living Seas! :worship: Girl I am so jealous of you. I'm still looking for my other disney dork half and dream of a WDW or DL marriage... How wonderful it must of been for you & your husband. LOVE IT!

Welcome and sorry to hear about your foot, I agree with Annette you've got to find shoes that work for your foot & walk. I think working at a Physical Therapy Clinic will help w/your foot & future aches & pains. Can all the Fat Grils come and visit in the future for much needed messages?

Walk on GF you can do it! :cool2:
Chris

Hello Fat Girls,
Sorry I've been MIA, lots going on with the start of school here last week. I work for the local school district so the first week of school is ALWAYS CRAZY! I was able to continue to walk last week. I only got to walk four days and usually I strive for 6 but I had to let that go due to work. :surfweb: This week will be better and I should hit my goal of 6 days of walking!

Confession time, since other FG's are confessing their struggles... Saturday night my friend invited me over to her house for some chick scrap booking time. Now I am not an avid scrap booker by no means but I have been slowly working on a small scrap book of all the pictures from last years Disneyland Half Marathon road trip & fun with my sisters, 2007. Well I ate far to many mini Reese's peanut butter cups & I had a few magarita's as well... Ugh so much for any progress I made in the weight loss department. I wish I had the will power to decline the litter peanut butter buggers & the delish beverages but I didn't. :sad2: And did I walk today, heck no, house work, laundry, chores, chores, & more chores. Truthfully they are all excuses cuz I pretty much lacked motivation today. But then I surfed on in and well...

THANK YOU!!! You all are just the inspiration I needed real women looking exercise/walking right in the eye & mirror and as Annette puts it deciding to, "keep moving forward! :woohoo:

We can do this ladies!
Walk On :cool2:
Chris

PS I will doing the Disneyland Half Marathon in 2009! WOO HOO, training starts now!

ChocoKat- thanks for the links!

Nikki- add me to your jealous list. disney wedding...awwww! :cloud9:

Chris- those peanut butter cups are evil! Especially the egg ones around Easter time. Ugh! I swear they can talk cause they're always screaming EAT ME! I'm excited your training is starting! :cheer2:

I'm thinking about signing up for the Princess 5k coming in March. Anyone else planning to be there?

We really need a sticky page that lists everyone's Disney related races they're planning on doing. That way we'll know who else is training for the same thing with us. Plus, I would love to see pics with little bios of all of you. I wonder how we could set this up. Hmmm....:confused3

Have a blessed day and get to moving!!!

Lilo,

I was thinking about doing the Princess 1/2 but deceided now to do the 5k instead. I would rather not try to train for such a long distance in the winter when I really can't run outside. When you live in MI, winter is dark, cold and the days are too short. We are registering for the event in Oct since right now all our extra money is going to our vacation that starts in 10 days!!!

I know about those Reeses. That is my favorite! Hard to resist. But don't beat yourself up over it. If you do, it won't help. Just Keep Moving Forward!

Have a great day everyone!

I agree that we need a sticky for our events, just so we can figure out who's training for what.

I'm so in awe of those of you doing 1/2 marathons! I just can't imagine such a thing! I was looking over my training schedule today and reading Week 6 when I have to run 8 minutes... impossible!! :scared: If I manage to get through all of this training, I'll be running 35-40 minutes straight! Wow! And you guys are looking at 3 hours!! Amazing! :thumbsup2

I'm already figuring out how I'll work out while traveling. I have an overnight trip this weekend, but can get my workout in before heading out of town. But, I have an overnight Sept 27-28, so I need to check if my hotel has a treadmill. Then, I'm in Vegas with my Dad for a week in October. For my Saturday workout, I'm going to have to run at the track (my dad drives a vintage racecar, so that's why we're out there), then on Monday pay $10 to use the Luxor's fitness area. Oy! So much planning involved in all of this. Good thing I'm detail oriented and like making plans.

Bravo to those who are cutting back on fast food. Somewhere along the line, I started doing that, just because I was tired of how I felt when eating that way. Now, when I'm hungry and out driving around, it's hard to find something, because fast food just seems so disgusting. When I work out at the gym, I eat a Luna bar on the way there, then get a Jamba Juice (with either protein powder boost or vitamin boost) for dinner on the way home. Stick with it and, before long, you won't be able to believe you ever enjoyed fast food!

Now, if I could just convince myself to eat less in sit-down restaurants. I swear, if it's got bacon and/or cheese on it, I'm all about it... ;)

Magix-If you are up early enough, you could run the strip. Before it fills up with tourist, it is quite pretty.

I don't know how to create a sticky. We're lucky that I could start a thread.:rotfl2: If someone knows what to do, that would be great.

It's raining here. Fall is on its way. I love fall clothes but not the weather.

Adidas makes some running pants/shorts in a 2x that fit me. Depending on the brand I usually wear a 22/24 pants. So you might want to try there.

Have a great evening! :)

Annette

Up early? Me?!? Oh no, I'm more of an afternoon/evening runner. Which ought to be great, when I have to get up early and run the race. I just checked and I'll be on week 8 of the training schedule when I'm in Vegas, which is just straight running 25 minutes. Wow. Well, who knows? If the weather's decent (which it's usually not when we're there in October), maybe I'll get up unusually early and see Vegas at that hour.

Annette- what you can do is edit your first post to include who is running which race. I think that would be a good page to have it on! I can go through tomorrow and make a list if you would like. I have the week off so I'm pretty free!

Ok so confession. I have had WAY too many meals out recently. It didn't help with the trip to Detroit but then we went out 2 times today!!!:confused3 that is just not good! I'll have to get working on that one

I did get a run/walk in today. I was out for 45 minutes and did probably 2.3 miles. I'm thinking of starting that couch to 5K program! I'll have to see if I can find the book for cheap at alibris.com!

Oh I found capri sweat pants at Wal-mart in the plus section that fit nicely. They are a bit warm but with Michigan Fall upon us they seem to do the trick for me!

Keep on moving girls!!!

You are all a great form of motivation and accountability for me!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: THANK YOU:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Alright, I got shin supports today at SportsAuthority, so I wore them under my dress pants at work all day and again at home after applying some biofreeze to my shins.

I love biofreeze, if you gals don't know about it, give it a whirl, it is like a better versio of icyhot. I couldn't run without it, it gives me nearly instant relief from aching muscles.

I put my legs up all afternoon and the shins feel soooo much better!!! I think I will be able to get to run/walk again tomorrow finally!!! :yay:
Wish my shins luck! :rotfl2:

we have bio-freeze samples at my work. I have never tried it before but maybe it would feel good on my shins....... I'll have to check it out next week!

I got a BUNCH of samples from work as well, we were giving them away at an event for the elderly last year, and they love, love love that stuff. I didn't know what the big deal was :confused3 but a friend of mine who runs the WDW Marathon told me it was great stuff, so I tried it out... and boy was I surprised.

I now have a totebag full of left over samples that they wanted to throw away I said no way! :rotfl2:

OMG this biofreeze stuff sounds wonderful. Where do you purchase it? Drug store or Super Walmart, I must find this wonder drug.

Thanks for all of your support, those Reese's peanut butter cups do call my name, and those little peanut butter eggs at Easter well they have been known to call my name now & again as well.

It's official for me I will run, walk, and or crawl the 2009 Disneyland Half Marathon . I was so bummed this year when I couldn't attend DL Half. My sister & her family did the 2008 DL Half. I missed my sisters, family, & the fun we had. I walked around the house on race day in my 2007 Disneyland Half Marathon shirt, mickey ears, & 2007 medal. I pretty much pouted the entire day, :headache: my sons finally caved and said. "Fine mom, we can take a hint, we'll all go next year, enough already." Hey a moms got to do what a moms got to do, right. :rolleyes1

As for the sticky thing, sorry ladies I don't have a clue about how to do this either...

Annette you want to talk about rain...

Ladies I live in the Pacific NW, Washington, it rains here from October -June. When I say rain I mean RAIN! In the winter it rains everyday. Some storms produce multiple days of sideways pelting rain all day & night long let me tell that pretty much sucks, with a capital SUCK. :scared1: I haven't figured out what I am going to do during the winter months yet.

I had a great day & I walked. I stayed away from the peanut butter yummies and feel I am off to a good start this week. Although their is plenty of week left.

One step & one day at a time right ladies! Sorry long winded tonight.

Walk On :cool2:
Chris
