I am so busy with getting moved into our new place, training our new puppy and most importantly learning how to be a good nurse (and job hunting while I'm down scrounging medline)... I have zero time for wedding planning. Mix that with my sadness over not getting married in WDW...

I gained 8 pounds in the past few miserable months. I love FH and I want to be my most gorgeous in my dress. How do I get back to my healthy eating and working out lifestyle?

Any other brides 2 be having trouble getting their butts in gear? how do you all reccommend getting the time to get in shape?

Eating healthy shouldn't take that much longer than eating fattening foods. And worse case scenario: there are always the crash diets like slimfast etc (however, I tend to loose lots of hair when doing that, might be a problem...)

Basically, there is no miracle: a day has 24 hours, worst case, just cut an hour of sleep every day to work out (I'm not sure I could do that for a long time, but...)

Oh, and btw, 8 pounds extra doesn't make you something horrible, as long as you still fit in the dress, all is good!

i too was a "fat bride"
DH and I got married on August 3, 2007 in the local courthouse..I knew that we were having a DFTW vow renewal in 12 months so I started to look for dresses
This was me in my dress on July 2007..it wouldn't even zip!!!:

I decided that I wanted THAT dress and by the time my cruise in July 2008, I would wear it!

Not only did I fit in the dress..I had to have it taken in 2 inched on each side!!

I started weight watchers online..I think it is about $15 a month..really helped me learn to make better choices..here I am..70lbs lighter and back to my pre-cruise weight (i gained some water weight with all the food on the ship)
I forced myself to eat many small meals in the beginning..I was 226 and this helped me not feel deprived..I also still ate what I wanted..but cut my portions WAYYYY down!! I would cut a meal in half if we went to dinner..boxed it right away so not tempted to snack!

You look so pretty! I just got my walking kit & vouchers from WW meetings from my Medical provider... I need to wake up and go at 6pm, i work nights. i've been miserable bc i hate my job but just got an interview at a phenomenal place. the only problem with getting the job is switching over all my health care and using my flex savings account again!

thank you..i was really happy with it..it was the first time in a long time where I was happy to have pictures taken!!

I am... It seems that no matter how much I watch what I eat and walk daily I can't seem to lose the weight that would like. My DF has told me that I am perfect as I am, but I would still like to lose the weight!

You look so gorgeous!!!!!!! I love that dress!

I too am doing WW. . .I started last month and have lost close to 9 pounds i think it was. Because this summer alone I gained a whole dress size so my dress doesn't even fit. This summer just got away from my, my FMIL was INFESTED with FLEAS! and she didn't tell us. I found out when down stairs showing my FSIL my dress, and one it was COVERED with fleas. And to top it off I have two dogs while we were living with her . ..so now even my paper lab has fleas . . .between moving 8 hours and looking for a job and fighting a flea battle up hill i found myself buy McDs and Arbys and pizza . . .

McDonald's trick..if you MUST eat it..order a happy meal..take the top bun off the burger
yes..it isn't good to eat it but the bun will save some calories and the smaller size will cut the portions
it also feels like a treat!

Can I join in? I'm worried about being the fat bridesmaid. (There's always one, you know it. ) I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries several years back and finally knew why I've been hovering near 300 lbs. ( :scared1: I know! My saving grace is that I'm 6' tall; but I do look like a linebacker for the Dolphins) since I was 13. It means I can still wear my class shirt from middle school, but it's cold comfort.

My best friend is getting married in the spring and while I'd come to accept that I am this hulking thing I really hate the idea of being the fat bridesmaid for all eternity in her wedding photos. (Especially since she's tiny tiny and could probably fit in my pocket. :cutie: ) I finally mentioned it to my doctor a few months ago and am now waiting to get a referal to a 'weight management program' (fat camp) where I can get medication to help with the pcos and hopefully actually lose a significant portion of this excess bagage.

Congratulations the 9 months... I know how hard stuff always gets in the way!

FH has lost a ton of weight and is looking fly so I really want to join him.v:yay: :yay:

I am a proud WW member I have been with them for a long time and you know it does show you how to make better choices. I eat better and feel better. You can eat anything you want on weight watchers you just have to measure and count your points. I lost 7.4 pounds this week I think most of it was water but I was chasing children at work and was to busy to think about eating. You can do it you just need to make time for yourself and take care of you and everything will fall into place and that means the weight coming off too. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You will make a beautiful bride.

Hey, everyone knows that bridesmaid dresses are deliberately designed to make the bridesmaids look bad! :rotfl: So, don't worry about how you'll look in the bridesmaid photos; hardly anyone looks good in those dresses.

If it were me, I don't think I'd put myself through a weight-loss program for someone else's wedding. If I were really self-conscious about my looks (and I have been obese pretty much all my life including now, so I know the feeling) I would probably find an excuse to miss the wedding. On the other hand, dieting might be worthwhile to improve your health.

For PCOS, the usual drug is metformin. I take Byetta (I didn't do well on metformin), and find it has been a miracle drug for me, so that's another one to ask your doctor about. Byetta is more effective than metformin at helping people lose weight, and it can be taken with metformin. In fact, using Byetta with metformin is the usual way to take Byetta; Byetta isn't even "labeled" (approved by the FDA) to be used without another diabetes drug. Beytta has to be injected twice a day, but I found that self-injections weren't nearly as bad as I had feared.

Congrats to everyone on their weightlosses!!!! Congrats congrats!!!!

OK, so my friend was doing WW and told me to join....I am flat broke!!! So we copied the little slider card thing that says how many pts foods are.... but, I am still confused as to what to do....

How many pts can I eat in one day....the leftovers I can use on the weekends right???

What about fruits/veggies....are those 0 pts??? Is there anything that is 0 pts????

I want to start ASAP but I want to make sure I am doing the right thing...:confused3

Thanks for your help!!!

I heard somewhere - if you can't lose it... decorate it!

daily points vary..

I was 226 and 5'8" it said to make my 150 goal, I need 28 points per day. As you lose, it recalculates for you..I think I am at 21 points per day now.

You also get 35 "flex" points but I tried not to use those..I know everyone "says" you are suppose to use those, but I only did if we went to dinner..I tried to exchange instead..like going to the gym for 4 pts so I could eat cake

I wouldn't dream of missing this wedding. She means the world to me and I've promised that I would be by her side on her big day. And while I know the focus will be on her, and that's as it should be, I am vain enough to want to look good. :rotfl: And I figure it's a good enough reason as any. (A big plus will be being able to go to the doctor for an illness and not having to sit through a lecture about being a fatty before they're willing to give me something for the thing I came in with. :sad2: I really hate that. As if I've made it 27 years without noticing that I'm a giant or trying to do anything about it. But I digress... )

Thanks for the info about Byetta! :thumbsup2 I'd never heard of it before, though I had heard about Metformin being the standard treatment. I would love to be able to lose weight like everyone else by lowering my caloric intake and increasing my physical activity. It would be just like you said, a miracle. R

Right... now over to the W.I.S.H board. :)
