Fastpasses for toddlers??

Would it even let you make the fastpass? When we went in July and I was making our selections, I was trying different combinations for different attractions and the system wouldn't let me make a single fastpass for the kids saying that under 7 couldn't go alone.

Please don't give up on the Disboards! People here love everything Disney as much as you do, and sometimes don't realize when they answer in a negative tone. I have had to overlook some answers to questions I've asked, but I think the majority of the people here are happy to leave you feeling happy!

Wouldn't it be so nice if we all just assumed the best of each other rather than calling each other's questions absurd? I'm a fairly frequent Disney-goer, and I've never thought of this issue of toddler fast passes. The reason I asked the question is because as a family vacation, everyone has things we want to do. Of COURSE we can stand in standby, and of COURSE we want to see our child have fun with the characters. But my husband also wants to ride the mountains. Most likely what we will do is that he'll use his fast passes for the three mountains (so that he doesn't waste precious time that he could be doing things our daughter can do) and I'll match mine up for character meet & greets with our 3yo. But given the choice to FP Anna & Elsa with just me or to stand in line for 120 minutes so that my husband can do it too, I'll pick the quicker line. And I'll be thinking about what's best for my kid the entire time. I wasn't trying to game the system or not do my research.

I've never asked a question on this forum before, but honestly I'll think strongly about finding a more welcoming and friendly spot to find Disney info. The condescending tones often found here are just so disheartening and really un-magical.

I wouldn't worry about explaining your reasoning or motives.

I was just sending you the link to what someone who apparently works at Disney said. I think he's credible. If he's is to be believed, it's Disney policy and not using a loophole or being shady or gaming the system.

I intend to check into it while we're there because I find it interesting and incredibly convenient if it's true.

Well since he wasn't addressing the issue of what works with the under 3 crowd, we don't know what the requirements would be.

This doesn't logically follow. I'm still skeptical about the intial claim but if true, that does not mean than they'll let a group in a FP line when no one in the group has a FP. Factually distinguishable situations.

What I'm confused about is if the child is using a FP alone, then what will the parent use the FP for? She'll have an extra FP for a ride that the child won't be able to have. If she's using that one for a Mountain with husband, they could just use child swap and acheive the same thing. (Otherwise she'll just be going on an additional ride by herself - which I guess is possible but doesn't seem like that was what was contemplated).

Just so you know, in February, I saw CMs turn away many people with small children who only got one fastpass or none for meet and greets. "Sorry," they said, "everyone needs to have a fastpass to be in this line unless they're under 2 and then the parents going in need a fastpass."

YMMV but it would be terrible to march up to the queue and be told no in front of everyone and disappoint your kid or kids. Many times a parent would try to argue with the CMs and still be turned away and "helpfully" directed to the nearest fastpass location or guest services no matter how demanding or angry they would get. You might not want to see the characters, but if your kid does and you're in line, you're seeing them. It would totally defeat the purpose of fastpass if anyone or a big group could walk in the line with only one.

It's how I heard of the VIP tours where everyone gets fastpasses for the day.

I'm sure there's many people who don't want to ride rollercoasters but have to for their kids. They don't get to get an extra fastpass because they'd rather be somewhere else, just as many others use the snot out of the child swap.

This is in line with just about everything I've ever read regarding FP+ and all of my own experiences.

I would not personally try to elevate the issue to a leader.

DH and I are taking DD3 to MK and HS in early December. I'm curious - can she use one of her fast passes and just have us accompany her? I'm particularly talking about character meet & greets. It doesn't seem right that we would have to use one of our fast passes to take her in to meet Mickey if we're not having our pics taken, etc. But I realize this is probably hard to control so I'm figuring the answer is that we need to book our own fast passes for character meets as well. Does anyone have experiences with this? Thank you so much!!!

The picture has no influence on the fact that you still occupy a space in line.

It is perfectly fine that if you wish to meet Mickey with her, that you are required to also have a fastpass.

Only 3 and up are ticketed and every person age 3 and up would need a FP for a FP attraction or meet and greet.

2 year olds will not have an issue.

Its a illogical loophole and they will close it soon enough if it does exist. "The Hub" tends to be very credible though, so it probably does. Say I am going with a 2 year old that wants to meet A&E, by that logic I can just get in the FP line with no FP+s for our group. My 2 year old does not need a FP since she is under 3 and I don't need a FP since I am just accompanying her. We can meet every character in a matter of minutes!

Yep. People always try to be cute and work the loopholes. Then everyone gets punished when Disney has to draw a line in the sand and allows no exceptions. Can't people just do what they know they should, instead of what they think they may be able to get away with doing?

Actually my response was to the poster that commented on my previous post, not directly to your question. In any case, everyone gets 3 FPs and we all have difficult choices to make. We chose 2 each day that we can all enjoy together, and 1 each day with a height requirement to ride and swap with each other while my son is napping in the afternoon. I do find the premise of being allowed to bypass the FP requirement to escort a child to be opening a Pandora's Box of trouble.

In which case, it's really nobody's concern what I do or do not wish to do with my child, or in this case, grandchild.

If it's Disney's policy, and that's easily confirmed with no fuss or trouble, then there's not a thing wrong with doing it no matter how many people don't like it.

You logic is badly flawed. Isn't the time that your daughter would be doing a meet & greet "precious" too? Or are there merely degrees of precious? Sound to me like you want to have your cake and eat it too.

LOL good grief. Logic? This isn't a courtroom. I probably worded my question poorly. I shouldn't have even used "right" or "fair" or whatever. I was literally just asking a question, not making a judgment on Disney policy. I'm not going to be sad or mad or any negative emotion if we are standing in line vs. using fast passes. I'm thrilled to be lucky enough to take my daughter to Disney. I simply had a question and it got answered. Can't that be enough for y'all, or is it your goal to make people feel stupid and sorry they asked??

It is for some, those you have to learn to ignore.

Why doesn't everyone just quit commenting on her quality as parent and what should or should not be important to her. For the love of god, she asked if it was possible, that's her crime.

So what, you don't like the idea that someone might get something you aren't getting. If it's policy, it's policy. Take it up with Disney if you don't like it.

With as much sneaky, borderline stealing and gaming the system that goes on with some of these threads- this one shouldn't even be on the radar.

Btw, I give very good advice, but I very seldom take it.

I just witnessed a mom trying to do this last week. Young child had fast pass+, she did not. The CM very kindly sent her to a guest service person and they took away one of her other fast passes and gave her one to see Mickey with her child. She was not pleased, but the CM was as pleasant as can be!
