Fastpass return or replacement?

and if it’s just one or two headliners, one can be rope dropped (plus resort guests get in 30 minutes early) and maybe the other can be at the end of the day right before park close.
Except. Assume 4 headliners per park on the pay scale. You could do two of THOSE that way, but that still leaves two that need to be purchased or middle of day standby.

Sorry I laugh cause Cedar Point had 70 rides on 1 PARK. The fact WDW has that few over 4 is quite sad.
Pretty bad comparison IMO. CP doesn't have near the number of shows and other attractions, or areas of parks that are dedicated to other experiences (world showcase, animal trails, etc). I'm a CF platinum passholder, so I'm not biased against them.

i would be SHOOKETH if you can pay add'l to ride ROTR and Ratatouille.
At least with RotR I think you should use "must" instead of "can" as the ride is already in such high demand that allowing even a few riders to essentially jump the line shortens it to the point that getting on without paying may be close to impossible. Only way it won't be all but required is if they price it so high that there aren't enough people willing to pay the price.

My big concern is lightning passes (fastpasses) will all be gone by noon or early afternoon. That was the experience at DL even with people pulling one at a time etc. If you wanted an evening fastpass for say Matterhorn you usually had to get it by 11am (just as an example). Do we think this will have the same issues that Maxpass at DL had?
If this happens, then Genie+ will end up being a ripoff and a failure. It would basically mean that you have to stand in long standby lanes all day, even though you paid extra.

The more I think about it. at only $15 a pop wont everyone pretty much buy it? You will have 40k people trying to get next available Peter Pan.

I agree, although there were first-timers who didn't use FP because they thought it cost money, so there will surely be some who figure that standing in standby lines is the cost-saving thing to do.

But also, in the video that disney released they showed images of the genie app and PPF was included in 'genie +' fwiw
splash wasn't anywhere on the list but i would imagine when it is opened it will be add'l
You can they confirmed it!

I haven’t read it all but it sounds like genie plus is priced and designed in such a way that not using genie plus is essentially not feasible since they will skip us in lines? Guess I can have fun with resort only stay with dvc.

Okay - resort guests can book the more expensive lightening lane at 7 am (upcharge). Everyone can do the regular at 7 am.

So I can book Mine Train at 7 am. I'm imaging the later in the day, the more expensive it will be...

It's my understanding that resort guests can book their first LL reservation- the ones included in the $15 fee. What confuses me, is if you have to choose the next available time slot, wouldn't that be at park opening? Meaning you have to be there at opening to use it, right?

NM- looks like they clarified it and it is the paid option. I think I like that much better!

4a. Will there be any benefit to staying on property?
4b. Will there be any benefit to staying in a Deluxe Resort?
Exactly what I was thinking. You get an earlier time frame each day to buy Genie+ and book one ride, along with 1/2 hr earlier entry into park. I guess that gives you access to 2 rides before other guests arrive????
ETA: Sounds like everyone/anyone can book at 7am from watching Disney video. I am so confused.....I am going to have to take some time to review this later.

it did show that Space and SDMT were 'lightning lane' and would be some of the attractions that you would have to pay EVEN MORE for
It's not just that you have to pay even more for rides like Space Mountain. It is also that, even if you are willing to pay, you are limited to just two such rides a day. So there will be very little chance to skip the lines. We used to often pull multiple Space Mountain fastpasses on a single day. Now, you can't do that. Indeed, if you want to ride SDMT and Splash without crazy lines, you will have no ability to skip the line at Space Mountain at all. Not even once. Ugh.

I think that the planning aspects of Genie are supposed to mitigate this by creating a Touring Plans style of attack to direct people to where lines are shortest at certain times of day. At least, I think that's what they THINK or are counting on - I'm not so sure on that bet, myself.

Maybe it is late in the day, or my brain has quit. But, it just sounds more confusing to me.

I look forward to when people share after experiencing it. . . .but "fall" is kind a vague.

If I'm staying on site and not planning to rope drop then this 7am thing is useless for me right? If it's next available slot

I imagine Splash won’t be one of the upcharge rides. There’s only ten total.
