Fastpass return or replacement?

Who in their right minds actually think this is in any way a good thing for the guest experience is beyond me. Just a massive price increase hidden behind smoke and mirrors. Wait, look, a shiny object!!!! Genie will make your day better!!!

What a load of horse manure
I’m in my right mind and I think it will be good for guest experience 🙋‍♀️

Well that's magical...
And its magical to charge a family to come to a park and then have them pay more to ride on popular rides
I get that everything can't be for everyone. But hoping something fails just because you don't like it is a little more than ridiculous to me.
So since you have no issues with the new system, it's ridiculous for someone else to hope it fails so that WDW can go back to the think tank and maybe come up with something better. But, since it's better for YOU it's okay. I get it now.

Hoping that a ridiculous cash grab, which has at best dubious benefit to the consumer, which has potential to damages the brand’s reputation… and you’re confused as to why people would be against it?!?!
No, I'm confused as to how people don't think it's possible for people to like it. Tell me where I said everyone has to like it? Pretty sure I never said that. I find it far from a ridiculous cash grab and can't wait for it to launch. Never said everyone has to feel that way. If there were something that other people loved that I didn't like, I sure never would wish it would fail.

You're probably right about that. Bad example. But still, there will be at least two parks that have more than two rides on the pay separately list. So, at HS for instance, there will almost certainly be at least one ride that I love that I will simply have no ability to skip the line for --- even if I already bought Genie+ and am willing to pay even more on top of that.
That’s true. But maybe that’s where virtual lines come in handy. One thing that appeals to me about this are the many different ways you can potentially have a low wait for a variety of rides. Boarding pass for one, rope drop one, virtual standby for one, Genie+ for one, LL for one, etc.

We're not talking about a subjective change here. Its not a case of being mad about your favorite restaurant closing and being replaced by a different one. In that case, sure it'd be harsh to want them to fail. However this is a free service now being charged for, despite no value being added. If the nickle and diming fails it benefits consumers. If it succeeds it hurts consumers. It makes complete sense to want it to fail.

Bahahahahah, thanks for the laugh. Thanks for twisting my words into something I never said.

Is this the end of ADRs? They had more than quick service places listed on the 14 minute video

Watching the video - it sounds like standby will still be an option.

I'm just curious at this point if you have to buy for the entirety of your tickets/stay (like when you upgrade to hoppers), or if you can pick and choose what park days. Example, Epcot - I might prefer to just do standby. . .. or AK, hit the rides we want first thing in the morning (staying on property so 30 minutes before it officially opens), rather than worry about paying the $15/pp upgrade. And to be honest, at this point we have tickets for the AH party at MK - so can hit rides during that. So, $15/pp upgrade at maybe DHS. . . .. .but, is it an all or nothing.

While we now - officially - know what direction they are going, and I don't hate the sound of it so far, there are details I'm unclear about where my family is concerned. YMMV.

I do find it subjective, especially because I disagree with your second to last sentence. But that's ok!

I think the real loser in this scenario will be the AP holders. If they don't get any Genie+ features with their AP, that's a lot of potential extra revenue for them to use G+ or LL to go on the top ride each day they come to the park that was not available before.

I doubt it. I think its just optimistic and the option to book what is available all in one app as well as get on waitlists/

Of course stand by is still an option (other than the 2 VQ rides).

People have said something like this a number of times and I’ve responded with a list of things about the system that I think adds value. Just because it doesn’t add any value to you personally doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have value to someone else.

On a totally unrelated note. I’m quite shocked and appalled that this site has a reputation for a number of Disney’s paid Astro turfers. It’s totally undeserved.

It’s a magical cash grab.
It‘s bloody awful.
Don’t be fooled by the $15 which is the introductory pricing (see D23 Josh interview, it’s clearly going to go up). Want to ride the tier 1s that your family really want to ride, which will be a LOT of the best rides, then it will be surge priced, and likely very expensive.
A family of 4 going for 10 days+ like many UK guests do it could easily be $2000 extra for something that was free.
Remember Bob told his earnings call this was going to really increase yield. Yep, it will.

Not really. Those upcharge rides will go FAST!!!

We go to Boo Bash and our next day is one of our DHS days - now I can roll over at 7 am - purchase Runaway Rail Train and Slinky Dog and not have to worry about getting to ride them later.
Can’t everyone do that? So still a competition of fastest hands/best wi/fi? I really don’t know, though. I need to read and watch Disney info again.

Because it’ll force Disney to be creative again and come up with a better solution
I don’t know if there will ever be a better solution...there are too many people on this planet and too many of them want to go to WDW!! Believe me, I am not happy about this as we were FP+ superusers. Maybe once I have all the details, I’ll feel better...trying to keep an open mind. But the whole build more rides, 5th gate, etc won’t work because Disney will just increase capacity commensurately.
