Fastpass return or replacement?

Okay, I'm not quite following.

I get the Genie / Lightening / Max pass is $15 per person, per day. So, is this required? Like does everyone have to get this - so basically it is just a price increase for the tickets we already bought? Or do people elect to add this "perk" , so it has an advantage to access a faster line - while people who elect not to wait in the stand by line?
I am confused about this as well. For the pay per attraction rides are they now pay to ride? Or is standby still an option for all rides?

Watching the livestream, they just pointed out now 7am is the same time for lightning pass and RotR boarding passes! Len also said that he heard the pay per ride attractions will only be 1-2 per park. And he’s heard prices for those rides will be 8-20 dollars per ride.

ETA to fix typos

I mean...I'll pay $8-$20 to get on ROTR once during our trip!

Rat? I'll pay it twice... :D

We are still missing a lot of details like:
1. What rides are included in Genie+ ($15 per ticket per day)
2. What rides are and upcharge for Lightning Lane beyond Genie+
2a. What will these upcharges cost
3. When will it start
and the list goes on!

4a. Will there be any benefit to staying on property?
4b. Will there be any benefit to staying in a Deluxe Resort?

There were never any tiers at MK

When we went in 2015, you could book 1 good FP+ and 2 other FP+ that weren't as necessary. I could be recalling it incorrectly but they treated them like there was a tier system. For instance, we booked Space Mountain as our tier 1 ride since nothing else was available in that tier (7D, Splash Mt, Big Thunder Mountain), Enchanted Tales with Belle and Haunted Mansion in our 2nd tier. Epcot I think it was Test Track as the good ride, Journey Into Imagination and Spaceship Earth as the tier 2 rides.

Staying on property you can start booking passes at 7 instead of waiting until you get in the park.

My big concern is lightning passes (fastpasses) will all be gone by noon or early afternoon. That was the experience at DL even with people pulling one at a time etc. If you wanted an evening fastpass for say Matterhorn you usually had to get it by 11am (just as an example). Do we think this will have the same issues that Maxpass at DL had?

Well the Park Blog write up seems to indicate Smugglers Run would be included in the $15 Genie+ which seems strange 🤷‍♀️

“For the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. You can make one selection at a time, throughout the day – from classics like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability).”

Smuggler's Run isn't all that high-demand. The lines haven't been that long and they move quickly as the ride has a high bandwidth. It's no RotR.

I would have rather they just raised the price of tickets 15$ and left it like it was. Not getting the 3 fast passes a day that you can book in advance will suck…. Now I’m kind of hoping my DVC contract gets taken in ROFR. This in no way is better then fast pass plus… and I’m not talking about the price.

One BIG difference at WDW is that almost all rides have FP queues. At DLR many did not. I don't know if that is going to change for them with this, but with WDW being more spread out and with more attractions to choose from, that should help some with that.
