you know when i sat in the fast track fast pass line for 25 minutes around 8pm on sunday i thought about this thread...

I just got back to my room from HS and had to look this up asap! Im sorry, but I did not read through all the posts so I dont know if this was said or not... today, while in HS, we used our fastpasses to ride Toy Story Mania at about 4pm.. the FP's were to be used between 10am and 11am.. the girl took our FP's and said, "Just so you know, starting March 7, you will have to come back during the 1 hour window" I was so bummed.... I hope its not true, it will ruin my whole stategy, I came on here right away to see if people were saying anything about it!

Then you should have read this thread! Yes, it's true.

You mean report from member who was confused about what we even talking about and spoke of evening hours combining them with extra hours? I still try to digest what she was trying to say.
LOL, I'm still trying to digest this question.^^^

She never clarified anything, as for others, there was also Chershire post, who presented quiet opposite report.
Who are you referencing, does this poster not go by a name? I'm just curious, because I didn't see any post(s) exactly like the one the you described above. :)

Is there anything official yet or are we still speculating?
LOL, that question is blasphemy in this thread and the word "official" is not welcome in the midst of this "honest" conjecture. :)

Just when I thought this thread couldn't get any lower, once again I am proven wrong. You know something is very wrong when poster(s) old accounts of their personal experiences have to be dredged up "out of context" to prove some ridiculous point. I just don't understand, but I also don't correlate intelligence with high post counts so maybe that's why.

Where on earth is MORALES?!? This would never happen if MORALES was doing his job!!! MORALES!!!!!!!!!!! :lovestruc

Oh well, my patience is gone, I better leave this thread and lurk, lol. ;)

So the CM explained about March 7, etc., and of course, asked the guest to proceed and enjoy the ride.

The guest replied: "But what if I have dinner reservations, and the FP window is at the same time? What am I supposed to do?" To which the CM replied, bluntly but politely: "Then you wouldn't get a FP for that attraction."

The guest was completely baffled. Of course there were now 40 people behind her waiting to go through the line... We thought the CM handled it perfectly.

So, Disney's response was, "too bad..so sad?" Hmmm...let me think about it. My choices are..SPEND $350 at HBD and stand in a 90-120 minutes line for TSM, if my coveted golden ticket (otherwise known as FP) conflicts with my dining ressie (that I booked 6 months ago) OR...NOT eat their over-priced food and use my FP within the window? Does Disney REALLY want me to make that decision? Do they REALLY want me to lose my dining experience (aka my $$$) and stand in line?:rolleyes1 Personally..I think, that's a VERY poor choice (and attitude) to give a PAYING customer. Actually, the CM was quite rude. IMO

Of course, I will be able to book, my dining ressie and attractions, etc., all at the same time with the new XPass. Now, all that's left? How much more, it will cost me. :thumbsup2

Actually, I think the best answer is to tell your server at the ADR that you have a FP expiring in about half-an-hour, and the size of their tip will be in inverse proportion to how long it takes to get your food...to go, by the way...

Hypothetical situation:
You have used the same auto repair place for 15 years. For 15 years, the sign on their door has said their hours are 9am-5pm. For 15 years, you've noticed that they are there until at least 6pm. Slowly, but surely you start to arrive there after 5pm -- a little later each time, because something always comes up -- traffic, practice ran late, dinner was late, whatever. It's okay, because they are there and hey, if they're going to be there anyway...

One night you go to pick your car up at 5:45 because they've always been open at that hour in the past, but OMG -- THEY ARE CLOSED!! How DARE they do that? After all, just because their sign SAYS they close at 5pm, doesn't mean they SHOULD because, well, now you have to wait until tomorrow to pick up your car! WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE???

Does anyone but me see the parallels?

Honestly, I think anyone who says they will no longer to to WDW because they're going to enforce the times that they were generous enough not to enforce in the past (but now so many people take advantage of that...), is just being silly. Notice, I said I THINK...my opinion.

So, I have to pay (more $$$) for the chance to honor my FP window?

.

Not the reason, Disney is "enforcing" FP. It's directly related to the XPass. It needs to be bigger, better and more valuable, than a plain old FP. IMO Otherwise, however will they sell it? :confused3

If the owners and staff of the auto repair service all repeatedly and consistently said "We're always here until 6" and "don't worry about the sign, you can come any time until 6" then yes, it would somewhat similar.

Your analogy is a straw man argument. To parallel the FP situation, the mechanic would have said to you for 15 years, "our sign says we close at 5 pm, but it's fine if you come back anytime before 6 pm." That's a lot different than the customer just assuming they can come back later.

That said, OF COURSE, Disney can set whatever policy they want. Starting on March 7th, that policy will be that they "close at 5" (i.e., FP must be used within the window). But they have been telling the customers for years that they could "come back anytime before 6" so it's understandable that the change would cause some disappointment due to the added inconvenience.

You type faster than I do! :rotfl: Great minds think alike? ;)

I guess I just don't see the big deal. They didn't enforce it. Now they will. Life will go on. People will continue to spend their vacation $$ at WDW. And there will be something different to complain about next week.

If an unenforced fast pass return time is THAT important to your vacation, by all means, go somewhere else if you feel you must.

I just don't get all the hoopla -- although I should remember where I'm posting...

"disappointment" I can understand, but this 100+ thread in response to it? Just makes me want to yell "GO OUTSIDE PEOPLE! THERE IS LIFE OUTSIDE THE DISBOARDS!!"

ETA: If the car repair place DID tell you that, and then one day told you that they were going to really start closing at 5, would it be that big of a deal?

Honestly, in the grand scheme of life, is it REALLY that important?

The problem with the Disney told it's customers for years that they could not back anytime though, did not happen for everyone, so in a sense was not a policy at all but simply some CMs doing that.

If that had actually been policy it would have been info given to everyone.

Most of these 100 pages are debates over whether or not the people who were told it was ok to come back later were a bunch of reprobates who bent the rules for their own selfish ends.

We've come full circle for the 75th time (which is one reason this thread is as long as it is)... just because 100% of the guests did not know about it, didn't mean that it was not policy or that there was anything secret about it.

Great point! Small problem though. You do realize that you're also contributing to this thread alongside the rest of us, right? :rolleyes1

Kinda makes you want to enable ALL CAPS and say something emphatic...
;)

No one said anything about it being a secret, except you. But "policy" is published to all and this never was.

I could care less one way or the other, but call it what it is, unofficial info at best shared through Internet forums. Which if they did not exist the only way anyone would have known they could come back later would have been by accident.

I have no problem with those that did it, I have no problem with the change but it was never policy.

It was very rare, (almost none existent) for a CM...to even bat an eyelash, at a late FP. It wasn't just a handful. Someone instructed the CMs to honor them. It wasn't posted, but nonetheless..I believe, it was Disney policy.
