Wow, over 2000 posts about something that hasn't even happened yet.
Holy HANNAH!!!! I can't BELIEVE this thread is still alive!!!
Wow, over 2000 posts about something that hasn't even happened yet.
I just got back to my room from HS and had to look this up asap! Im sorry, but I did not read through all the posts so I dont know if this was said or not... today, while in HS, we used our fastpasses to ride Toy Story Mania at about 4pm.. the FP's were to be used between 10am and 11am.. the girl took our FP's and said, "Just so you know, starting March 7, you will have to come back during the 1 hour window" I was so bummed.... I hope its not true, it will ruin my whole stategy, I came on here right away to see if people were saying anything about it!
LOL, I'm still trying to digest this question.^^^You mean report from member who was confused about what we even talking about and spoke of evening hours combining them with extra hours? I still try to digest what she was trying to say.
Who are you referencing, does this poster not go by a name? I'm just curious, because I didn't see any post(s) exactly like the one the you described above. She never clarified anything, as for others, there was also Chershire post, who presented quiet opposite report.
LOL, that question is blasphemy in this thread and the word "official" is not welcome in the midst of this "honest" conjecture. Is there anything official yet or are we still speculating?
So the CM explained about March 7, etc., and of course, asked the guest to proceed and enjoy the ride.
The guest replied: "But what if I have dinner reservations, and the FP window is at the same time? What am I supposed to do?" To which the CM replied, bluntly but politely: "Then you wouldn't get a FP for that attraction."
The guest was completely baffled. Of course there were now 40 people behind her waiting to go through the line... We thought the CM handled it perfectly.
So, I have to pay (more $$$) for the chance to honor my FP window?Actually, I think the best answer is to tell your server at the ADR that you have a FP expiring in about half-an-hour, and the size of their tip will be in inverse proportion to how long it takes to get your food...to go, by the way...
Does anyone but me see the parallels?
.
Hypothetical situation:
You have used the same auto repair place for 15 years. For 15 years, the sign on their door has said their hours are 9am-5pm. For 15 years, you've noticed that they are there until at least 6pm. Slowly, but surely you start to arrive there after 5pm -- a little later each time, because something always comes up -- traffic, practice ran late, dinner was late, whatever. It's okay, because they are there and hey, if they're going to be there anyway...
One night you go to pick your car up at 5:45 because they've always been open at that hour in the past, but OMG -- THEY ARE CLOSED!! How DARE they do that? After all, just because their sign SAYS they close at 5pm, doesn't mean they SHOULD because, well, now you have to wait until tomorrow to pick up your car! WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE???
Does anyone but me see the parallels?
Honestly, I think anyone who says they will no longer to to WDW because they're going to enforce the times that they were generous enough not to enforce in the past (but now so many people take advantage of that...), is just being silly. Notice, I said I THINK...my opinion.

If the owners and staff of the auto repair service all repeatedly and consistently said "We're always here until 6" and "don't worry about the sign, you can come any time until 6" then yes, it would somewhat similar.
Your analogy is a straw man argument. To parallel the FP situation, the mechanic would have said to you for 15 years, "our sign says we close at 5 pm, but it's fine if you come back anytime before 6 pm." That's a lot different than the customer just assuming they can come back later.
That said, OF COURSE, Disney can set whatever policy they want. Starting on March 7th, that policy will be that they "close at 5" (i.e., FP must be used within the window). But they have been telling the customers for years that they could "come back anytime before 6" so it's understandable that the change would cause some disappointment due to the added inconvenience.

"disappointment" I can understand, but this 100+ thread in response to it? Just makes me want to yell "GO OUTSIDE PEOPLE! THERE IS LIFE OUTSIDE THE DISBOARDS!!"
ETA: If the car repair place DID tell you that, and then one day told you that they were going to really start closing at 5, would it be that big of a deal?
Honestly, in the grand scheme of life, is it REALLY that important?
The problem with the Disney told it's customers for years that they could not back anytime though, did not happen for everyone, so in a sense was not a policy at all but simply some CMs doing that.
If that had actually been policy it would have been info given to everyone.

We've come full circle for the 75th time (which is one reason this thread is as long as it is)... just because 100% of the guests did not know about it, didn't mean that it was not policy or that there was anything secret about it.
