Fastest Route to OKW from MCO -

For all those who rent cars and drive -

Do you find the 417 or the 528 to be the fastest way??

We always go 417. But then we get off at DTD and go in the back way by SSR, only because that's the way we know. However, someone posted about getting off at another exit so that then you go under the "Welcome to WDW" sign. I'd love that-hope some one else posts how to go that way.

If it is not rush hour I go 528 (I think it is a little shorter) If it is rush hour I go 417 (Not near as much traffic!)

Here are the directions that Simba's Mom is talking about - I just compiled this for our friends who are coming with us IN JUST TWO DAYS!!! I found it on allearsnet.com:

Follow the signs for the South Exit from the airport to pick up SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) towards Disney World. Once on SR417, you'll have 2 toll plazas for $1 each. After the 2nd toll, take exit 6 (SR 536/International Drive). Go straight through two sets of traffic lights (first intersection will be International Drive; second will be SR535) which will put you on SR536. Continue straight on this road and go straight through the next set of lights. You will pass the Marriott Orlando World Center on the right and the Holiday Inn Family Suites on the left, then I-4.

Just after I-4, you'll pass under the WDW welcome arch and the road becomes Epcot Center Drive. Take the 3rd exit after the arch. The road is "DVC Way"; the sign should say something like"Saratoga Springs/Old Key West". Go straight across at the set of lights at the bottom of the exit ramp. The entrance to Old Key West will be on your right; continue past this and the entrance to SSR will also be on your right.

I always take 417, it's not busy at all. I-4 is always nuts.

Yes, I believe those are the direction we took last week when we were there.l If I remember right from the time we got in our rental from the time we pulled up to OKW was 35 minutes. I was looking for signs for a gas station so fill up on the way back and Florida must have some kind of law that prohibits roadside signs and we were hard pressed to find one. We did finally find one on the way back at the second light outside of Disney...smjj
