Fast Pass

Can someone remind me if you can have more than one Fast Pass at one time? I remember that you can only have one pass per ride. But is there a limit to how many you can have total(different rides)?
Thanks ahead of time, for answering!

Hope I don't steer you wrong, but the last time we went, I recall that we were able to hold more than one at a time (even to the same ride!). The FastPass has a time on it telling you when you are able to get another FastPass. It also has a time window telling you when you can come back to the ride. There were times when we were eligible to get another FastPass before the return window expired on the FastPass we held.

I believe I've heard that the machine will mark the time you're eligible to get another FastPass as the earlier of: (1) the beginning time of your return window, or (2) two hours after you received the FastPass. However, our experience did not match that. I believe there were times when we were able to get another FastPass sooner than either of those options. I read on these boards that they were experimenting with time windows, so perhaps that explains it.

Hope this makes sense (and is somewhat accurate :) )

We used FP a lot last week and couldn't have more than one at a time. If you get a fastpass for a ride and you're time frame to come back and ride it is 12:30-1:30, you can get another fast pass for any ride, even that same ride, at 12:30, but no sooner. You don't have to use your first fast pass, but your time frame has to begin to get another one.

Oh well, Kerlynne. So much for my long, but wrong explanation! Glad someone else could get you the right info :)

Piglette you are right about how to hold more than one FP at a time.

even in the example JungleMansion gave you can be holding 2 at one time. You just have to reach the beginning time of the first FP first.
Last yr DS was able to ride RnR 27 times in a row by holding 2 at a time and using the 20 min long standby line.

There is no fixed limits on how many FastPasses you can hold at one time as far as I know. With the recent upgrades that eliminated the "one-at-a-time-or-wait-two-hours" restriction and introduced Surprise FastPasses, it's not rare to have two or three active passes.
Just check the FastPass ticket; it'll tell you everything you need to know about when you can get the next one.

Occasionally due to system malfunction you may be able to get another Fastpass sooner than you think. What sometimes happens is that one bank of Fastpass machines gets disconnected from the system so if you tried to get a Fastpass for a differnet ride five minutes later, you succeeded.

The wait-2-hours-OR-use-it-first rule is probably now the "worst case" which is in effect only during peak times. Others have reported times when it was wait-45-minutes-OR-use-it-first. The rules in the system can be modified as the day progresses. I suppose that if the system is tweaked, you might be able to get another Fastpass sooner than the time printed if you tried but you will never be forced to wait past the time printed (give or take five minutes).

Not sure whether "surprise Fastpasses" are labeled as such or are just a way of quickly explaining errors in the guest's favor.

Here is a scan of a surprise FastPass:

When we were at MK on Thursday May 15th it wasn't very crowded. Jungle Cruise was about 30 minutes posted wait time (although it looked less), so I got fastpasses and figured we would ride Pirates & see Tiki Birds while we waited. I think it was 2:10 and the return time was 2:50. On the bottom, I was surprised to see that it said we could get another fastpass at 2:15. When we got back around 3:00, the line was gone, it was practically walk-on.

I'm confused. I can get a fastpass and wait to ride that ride during the printed time and then get another fastpass. But, I know some rides get so much traffic that they might give out the fastpasses before noon and you might not get to ride until that evening. So does that mean you can't get another fastpass for a different attraction until your original fastpass time opens up? How do you know if the fastpass requirements change as the day progresses? Do you just keep trying the machines for the desired rides and see if they will issue you one? Does the Surprise Fastpass just let you on right away? The times printed on the posted ticket looked like that. Does that happen if you try to get a fastpass when the stand-by line is already short? Can somebody hellllppppp......puhleeze?

The FastPass system confuses lots of people, mainly because they have improved the system several times and changed the rules by which it operates in the process. It's really much more simple than it is made out to be though.

No. Your FastPass ticket will tell you at what time you can get your next FastPass. It's usually between 45 to 120 minutes later, but since it varies, it's important to check your ticket each time.
The worst-case scanario is that you must wait two hours between FastPasses or use your previous FastPass first (whichever is sooner), but it'll often be much quicker. Again, your ticket will tell you all you need to know.

The requirements never change - as long as you have a valid admission ticket and FastPasses are available, and you are eligible to get another FastPass, you can get one.

Again, just check your previous FastPass ticket, and you'll know exactly when you can get your next pass. If you are not yet eligible for another ticket and try to get a new one, it will tell you something like this (paraphrased): "Not a Valid FastPass - you are currently holding an active FastPass for [Attraction Name] and may get another FastPass at [Time]."

I am not too familiar with the Surprise FastPasses yet - I've only ever gotten them at Test Track for HISTA, so I don't know if they are available elsewhere yet, nor do I know the exact circumstances under which they are issued.

Don't stress over FastPass too much; it is really quite simple. Once you've used it a couple of times it'll all make perfect sense :)

I've never heard of a "surprise" fastpass. Please explain. Did you go to the Test Track Fastpass intending to get a Test Track Fastpass and instead you got HISTA or did it give you HISTA and Test Track so the "surprise" was like a bonus fast pass?

It is an additional "surprise" fast pass. We got it at Test Track and the bonus was Honey I Shrunk the Aud. There were times we could go to HISTA.

Just to clarify- in my experience it has been as they said.... the LESSER of two times- either 2hrs from the time you got the last fast pass OR when the first one's time has come up- whichever is sooner.
Meaning if you get a fast pass for one ride that isn't for hours and hours later- you still only have to wait 2hrs before getting another one if you want. You didn't have to wait until later that evening when that fast pass's time came up to get another one. So in that instance, you could have more than one fast pass at a time.
Atleast that's what happened to us when we used fast pass.
