Fast Pass usage during 15-minute grace period

This poll is for those who (1) have been to the World since March 7, 2012 and (2) have tried to use a Fast Pass during the 15-minute "grace period" after the one-hour return window has ended.

Question: were you always granted admission, or were you ever denied admission during the 15-minute grace period?

If you were denied permission, please let us know for what attraction and at what time of day.

I was 7 minutes late for Winnie the Pooh and they stated that I could not use it that they only have a 5 minute window. We were a bit upset and asked if there was anything they could do, but they said no, it was a strict policy. We understood got another fast pass for the ride and waited our turn. No sense getting upset when you are on vacation. I forgot to say the time of day was about noon. I wonder if it all depends on how busy the park is because it was crowded that day at MK.

So, I guess the "GP" number on the bottom of the pass doesn't really mean "grace period" -- either that, or they still have a training issue with the "relatively" new procedures...

I didn't vote in the poll, since we didn't try the GP on our Easter trip. But on another board I frequent, there was at least 1-2 people that were refused in the GP. One went to guest relations and they pretty much just got an "oh well" shrugged shoulders response. No guest recovery!

Still, you have a good suggestion, but I don't believe that polls can be edited. If I'm wrong on that, someone please let me know how to do it.

When I rode Star Tours 2 weeks ago, I was 2 minutes late for my FP because of Stars of the Saga. They were letting everyone in with a GP.

I had no problem using a Space Mountain FP in the last minute of the GP in March.

I said it before and I'll say it again...DON'T TEST THE SYSTEM! You do not know the circumstances that Disney dictates for how they respond to the 15 minute GP. If you cannot help it and have a good reason why you came late and if you are not heading for a ride that already has a load problem then there will probably never be a problem with getting entry.

It appears to me, based on all that has been posted, that Disney is in no mood to have the same thing happen as before. Do your best to get back before the GP. If you have a good reason for missing it that wasn't just because you didn't want to get there sooner, there is a good chance that they will let you ride. If not you could miss out on something you wanted to ride just because you want to test the system. That to me is very middle schoolish.

We just got back from a 10 day trip today. We were able to use FP in the 5 minute before grace period both times we tried. Once we were the full 5 minutes early and the other we were only 2 minutes early. We were also able to use FPs in the 15 minute after grace period the one time we tried, but we were only a couple minutes late.

Last week (6/10-6/19) I used tried to use fastpasses late three times.

1.) Thunder Mountain, about 2 hours late, but ride was down during our assigned time.

2.) Soaring, 11 minutes late.

3.) Space Mountain, 6 minutes late.

My family was let on all three times with no issues.

We always wondered why that was happening because we just assumed that you had to return during your 1 hour window. If that's the case, then we'll assume they are longer earlier in the day. Assuming that was the case, it doesn't diminish lines, but merely redistribute them.

The late usage did not make the lines longer at night. In fact, it helped make FP lines pretty even in terms of length throughout the day. Sometimes they may have been shorter than usual, sometimes maybe longer than usual, but mostly pretty consistent and thats because people staggered in when it was convenient for them rather than having the number of people with the same return times show up at the same time. I don't know why they changed this - perhaps because it was an "unwritten" type of allowance and they wanted a more explicit policy? Perhaps because with an open ended return policy, the "return window" was pointless? But people returning after their return window ended really had little to no effect on others... you didn't know if the person in front of you was late or not so whats the difference?
