Fast Pass usage during 15-minute grace period

Since 3-7-12, I have tried to use Fast Pass during 15-minute grace period and...

  • I was allowed to use FP during 15-minute grace period every time I tried.

  • I was not allowed to use FP one or more times during 15-minute grace period.

Link to where it says they were in no mood for something to happen that they couldn't have cared less about for over a decade?

Also, link to where the policy was changed due to abuse of late returns?

Why don't you provide links that prove otherwise?

The late usage did not make the lines longer at night. In fact, it helped make FP lines pretty even in terms of length throughout the day. Sometimes they may have been shorter than usual, sometimes maybe longer than usual, but mostly pretty consistent and thats because people staggered in when it was convenient for them rather than having the number of people with the same return times show up at the same time. I don't know why they changed this - perhaps because it was an "unwritten" type of allowance and they wanted a more explicit policy? Perhaps because with an open ended return policy, the "return window" was pointless? But people returning after their return window ended really had little to no effect on others... you didn't know if the person in front of you was late or not so whats the difference?

??? "late usage helped make lines even thoughout the day?" The point of FP is to more evenly distribute usage throughout the day. Using a FP outside of the window is counter to this goal.

Also, while you are correct that guests may not know if the person in front of them was using a "late" FP, they were still affected by them.

Not only not verified, it is a definite "not gonna happen". You know what time your ADR is long before you get to the park. You take a FP for that time and you will very definitely lose. You might get a little time if you were delayed past your window time, but with GP that would be an hour and fifteen minutes past the window opening. That would be tough sell.

I think the PP was asking about some real world experiences as opposed to just how you think it should be.

You must have me confused with someone else. I'm an conveying the information that I have heard about it combined with what Disney is trying to do. This is reality not speculation. Show up an hour and 16 minutes past your window opening and tell them that you pulled the FP knowing it was for the same time as your ADR and see how far it gets you.

If you tell them anything else...you would be lying. So good luck with that! Let me ask this...does it say anywhere on the FP that your Window is X:XX to X:XX unless you have an ADR and then you can use it whenever you've had sufficient time for a leisurely lunch with good conversation? If you want to inform the OP that they can go ahead and have their lunch and they will have no trouble using their FP after, go ahead. Better leave them an address where they can get in touch with you because they are going to be some very disappointed people.

Why don't you provide links that prove otherwise?

Because there is nothing to prove the opinion correct that the poster I was responding to was asserting, so why would I need to link to something that disproves an opinion that isn't backed up by any facts?

Much of what is posted on this board is opinion, speculation, and personal experience. No one is required to provide documentation or proof just to satisfy those readers who disagree.

The problems caused by outside-of-window FP use is one of the reasons behind the "enforcement" change. So, while the PP may not have described it entirely accurately, she was, generally, correct.

If you need to see the proprietary internal document that confirms this, you may be waiting for a while.

Sorry, but I disagree. When someone presents information AS fact, without anything to back that up, it should be qualified with the appropriate language such as "may" or "could". EVEN if it's an opinion board.

There has been absolutely nothing concrete showing that the "late" use of FP created problems leading to this change.

When are people going to give this a rest. Let's all agree.

1) The old use of FP did have some effect. (No arguing there was none.)
2) The effect was likely making some people's wait times longer, and other people's wait times shorter. However, the exact affect will never be known outside the inner workings of Disney.
3) Whether the effect caused the FP change or it was solely due to the change to x-pass, we can't tell.
4) Those days are over, and irrelvant to current WDW conversations. (Those on the DLR boards can continue the debate.)

Happy Canada Day.
