Fast Pass Plus Changes ....

All of this is true. There is a difference between holding back FPs and having FPs available on the day of. You can get a FP for the Tea Cups. They will NEVER sell out in advance. So the fact that you will be able to get a Tea Cup FP on the day of, or as your 4th FP is not proof that they were held back. Only that they did not get used up in advance. FP+ promises you 3 FPs. No more. People are getting more because there are more. On very busy days, people aren't going to get 6 or 7 or 8 FPs. We just haven't hit those days yet. Given the lack of popularity of certain FP attractions, the ability to get a 4th or 5th should continue to be there. But Disney isn't going to hold back Toy Story FPs for you to use as your 4th of the day while at the same time telling the family in Peoria who is trying to book that ride in advance that they cannot.

ITA. And "Hi" from Peoria. =)

Maybe it's just a matter of "tense." Did you mean, "But Disney isn't going to hold back Toy Story FPs for you to use as your 4th of the day after telling the family from Peoria who tried to book that ride in advance that they could not."

I mean, if they're in Peoria trying to book, it wouldn't conflict with someone in Orlando trying to get a 4th.

Driving home as I type here. Well, riding while DH drives. Experiences from the past few days leans toward some sort of hold back going on. We changed plans almost every day. I'd booked afternoon FP 60 days out. Once we saw how the extras were working we changed to morning FP. Then we changed which park we were headed to on whims. 15 minutes before RD, there were no TSMM FP until 5pm or later. Then 5 minutes prior I checked again and there were multiple times from 9:05am on. Same for Soarin.

I'm guessing MAYBE it is because people who planned on getting there at RD- were still taking showers at their rooms and had to rework their FPs for the day. Hence- Soarin being suddenly available? I think we might find that happening a lot. I hear about SO many people doing RD....but the reality is- we go RD EVERY day and it's EMPTY for the first hour or 2. People plan for it and don't get up!

FTR, I was not the first to jump in with a claim that people were making assumptions. JimmyV was.
No I wasn't. I pointed out heyitsmejosh's assumption before you pointed out mine. He started it! :rotfl:

Disney wants FL residents and will have no trouble retaining them. This group already has the advantage of greater flexibility, lower gate fees, lower ancillary costs (travel/lodging). They now have the added benefit of prebooking 30 days out.

For the limited number of guests who just happened to be driving by and thought it would be a good idea to buy $100 day passes? :sad2:

Precisely. Don't cry too many tears for the local family who happens to wake up that morning and decides to plunk down several Benjamins for day passes. They are few and far between. Disney isn't going to drive off locals with FP+. So much of all of these FP+ discussions devolve into figuring out what is going to happen to the 3 most popular rides on crowd calendar days of 9 and 10. On the vast majority of days and for the vast majority of rides, none of this matters and there will be enough availability for everyone. On Christmas Day, a day visitor is going to be screwed. On September 16th, the day visitor (and everyone else) is going to get whatever they want, A&E and Mine Train excepted, for the time being.

If you are going to DW on July 3rd....and you show up and want your 4th to be TSM....and another family from Peoria was ALSO going on July 3rd and wanted to book TSM NOW for July 3th....guess who wins? That's what she is saying. DW is not going to hold back TSM FPs so that on July 3rd a family can get one. They are going to release them all so that the family in Peoria can pre-book.

Simpler explanation is a lot of people acting the same way: "We changed plans almost every day."

No?

What this means is, if a person is in Peoria on May 15th trying to book FPs for their trip on June 30th, Disney isn't going to shut them out of a FP for TSMM so that it can hold it back for a visitor who tries to book it at noon on June 30th. NOw, of course, by coincidence, the visitor who grabs the FP while in the park on June 30th just might be the family from Peoria. But the odds are against it. So yes, it is a matter of "tense". (Or space-time continuum. :lmao:)

I know - I was just having fun with Jimmy ;)

However- as someone said- on a 9/10 day I think changing plans is not gonna be doable. With all the FPs gone- it's gonna be awfully hard to move things around like you can on a 4/5 day.

Yep. Just hope that all of the "I don't want to be glued to my smartphone" people aren't...

We had confirmation about Disney holding back up to 40% of FP+ by TheHub (who supposedly is a CM in the know). Now we have confirmation that the practice has stopped. If it's true that it has stopped, good luck to all you people who wanted to sleep in on your vacation.

Yes if the Hub could come in on this ... would be great.

The up to 40% allotment of FastPasses being held for day guests was before offsite guests had the ability to prebook. If there were any changes (I'm sure there were with the additions of offsite, full Passholder rollout and the rotating FP+,) my leaders either haven't shared this at any of our track talk meetings or weren't informed. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

Keep in mind, all this is speculation and hasnt been confirmed.

It is amazing people will discount what CMs say until it agrees with their narrative.
~I totally agree with this -- it's all wild speculation -- like squeezing juice from a turnip. The sky could possibly fall tomorrow, as well. :lmao:

~What speaks to me more than anything else is the OP's signature that proudly displays a ticker for yet another fabulous trip to WDW! :goodvibes

Last week I was talking with a Disney IT guy about a problem with MDE. I asked him about the availability of FP+ at park opening. He said no FP+ are held back. He stated that there is a finite number of them and they are all added by Disney at once. He said that number changes all the time for many reasons, including those listed in this thread. Makes sense to me...

The more I think about it- the more I hear about it....I think Ciera is correct- there is NO holdback. So if you are going during high season- expect to get 3 TOTAL per day....not the 6 or 7 people are talking about now.

Do you know for a certainty of the status of the holding back of FP+s as being the current policy?

If the info I got today from multiple CMs and Guest relations people was accurate .... then yes, they are no longer holding back FPs for day of use

Yep. Best to think of the 4th and on as bonus FPs.

I am just curious as to the rules about listening to CMs when it comes to Disney policy.

It seems to go as follows....if they say something that fits your perspective then it is gospel but if they say something you dont believe or is contrary to your beliefs then CMs are not viewed as a source of reliable info.

Therefore, despite "assumptions" being made all the way around, no one knows what the official policy is with holding back of FP+s at the moment.

And, amusingly, some people that claim it is only logical would also claim that Disney doesnt always do the logical thing in other instances.

What a paradox...
