FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

Thank you for the answers! It sounds like changes have not been made regarding paying a plate fee for sharing meals or separating child and adult meals on the plan. Thanks for all the info - it certainly helps with the planning process!! Do you think you'd use the dining plan again on future trips? Have you started planning yet? LOL

What if there are 2 rooms under the same reservation? Are the meals still pooled together under the reservation or per room? Thanks for any help.

My understanding is that it's per room. Our party will have 3 rooms in all and from what we've read, each room will have credits according to the number of people in the room.

I just read through all 31 pages and I don't think anyone has asked this yet. At some TS places such as San Angel in and Marrakesh, they have appetizers for two. They do not give you the option of ordering a single serving like at Alfredo's. So when you order these, does it cost two of your appetizer credits? As well for dessert samplers like the one at Chefs de France, does that take 1 or 2 TS dessert credits?

A few nights ago a server from the Whispering Canyon told me that if you're on the dining plan and order the all you can eat skillet, you can still choose an appetizer and dessert off the menu, as well as order the milkshake for your drink option. I'm guessing her info should be correct because she just started working there a few weeks ago and therefore just got trained.

I also spoke to a person who just got back from their trip who ate at ESPN and wanted to order the Superbowl Sundae $16.99. They were told they could not unless they had 4 people in their party, therefore using up 4 TS dessert options.

Cali Grill, Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, LTT, Col. Harb. house, Pinochios, Snacks galore! Mama melrose, sci fi, flame tree, tuskerhouse, Cinderellas castle, norways princess lunch, Whispering Canyon, Ohanas, Fun and food court at Contemp., main st. bakery (not included in plan) and many more!

so the Main Street Bakery is NOT included in the plan? I thought I saw it listed for snacks.

The brochure I printed out less than a month ago lists Main Street Bakery as snacks and CS (B,L,D), but maybe it's been changed recently.

I don't think this has been addressed and I apologize if it has. Our flight is coming in at 10am. If we go to the resort and our room is not ready what is the norm. Does that mean we have to pay for lunch out of our own pocket and the dining plan does not start? And does that mean we can not go to any parks till we get a room? This is our first stay onsite and I am not sure of what is the norm. :confused3

im not sure about the dining question but i am pretty sure u may go to the theme parks.

Brumeister, Say you arrive at 10:00 am. You check in, and your room is not ready. At check in, you will have recieved your card (key) with dining priviliges and park priviliges on it. Go, enjoy, eat, play, and when you get back to your room, go back to guest services to see what room you have been assigned to, if you have not been assigned a room # at check in. Your key will be programed for the lock then. Or, if you were assigned a room at check in, you will have been given a phone # to call to see if your room is ready. In the meantime, go to the parks if you choose, eat if you wish, it's all on the card you recieve at check in.

So I have been reading this very carefully. Do I have to purchase the Majic your way plan? I am a DVC member and plan to use points.

Let me see if I have it straight. We are staying 8 nights but I could by the dining plan for 7 nights. It appears all the point s are lumped together and no one cares who spends them. We could pay cash for the kids when we wanted to and conserve the points for , maybe, two table services per day?

Unfortunately, the dining plan is not available to DVC members staying on points :(. We're DVC members who cancelled SSR and booked at CSR so we could get the dining plan for free on our August trip. I am keeping my fingers crossed that DVC will offer us the dining plan ... it would be worth it for us even if we paid for it!

Okay so I just booked the Brown Derby (Oct 9) and tried my best to get Fantasmic with it but no go b/c we are on the Dining Plan.
The CM could not explain to me why and suggested I call WDW-DINE directly (I used the 800 number). She said you could pay out of pocket and get the Fantasmic pkg.
I said but it's free, it's just a voucher what difference does it make? There is no separate menu to order from. Again she couldn't explain and was just told none of the Fantasmic restaurants will except the dinning plan along with the Fantasmic pkg.

I wasn't quick thinking enough but what I should have done is said okay we'll pay out of pocket b/c then we would be listed at the podium as Fantasmic but with our server let them know we are using the dining plan.

Drats! Oh well I have heard a few cases when the server gives the Fantasmic voucher out anyway. We're a cute family :rotfl: perhaps if we bat our eyes the right way our server will take pity on us.

Wow only one more PS to go then we are all set with at least one TS everyday.
