FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

sharing - you may share at a table service ( or counter service ) UNLESS it is a character meal or buffet. This is regardless of ages of people. So, if you go with a child and don't want to order anything for them, just tell the waiter that that child will be sharing your food and ask for an empty plate for them. Make sure that the waiter puts your "guest count" as the right number though, not counting the person who didn't order in the count. Now, this means that you may have to pay cash for a drink or one of you may have to drink water. Or your waiter may be really cool and let it slide if you smile just right and are very polite in asking for a drink for the unordering person.

Child's Age - it's not listed. The waiter doesn't see your card until you pay for the meal.

Thanks for answering my question about age and the kids....but now it has brought out another question...For all of you who are planning on "sharing" your meals with your children and saving their credits...how are you going to turn around and use their credits for adult meals? Or does just the card say X child X adult...and not the "credits". We were planning on sharing at WC. I have heard of people sharing or planing on sharing at Ohana's....is that possable...since it's a "family style" (I think)...Our dd 7 is another one who hardly eats...so I hate to pay for a full meal for her when I know she'll take a couple bites and be done.

And another question...anyone know about CRT lunch? Are the princesses there then?

We will too !!! Hooray ! :cheer2:

Ok, so i've been thru the 13 pages of posts, but don't know the answer to this one:

I heard about the free dining and we are going during the promotional period. However, I've already booked the trip and paid 1000 down. Do you think WDW will credit us back because of the promo? Meaning, can I get the dining for free even though I've booked my trip? Again, I haven't paid for the whole thing yet, so it isn't "officially booked".

TIA for the responses.

This is a rather simplistic question....I am starting to make my PS for our stay in September (4-12). It says you can exchange one sitdown meal for a character meal. Do you have to do anything special to change it, or just use it as a meal? I have the free dining plan the lady at WDW Dine asked me which plan I had, and I said the free one for September..I just do not want to end up paying for a meal....any help is appreciated...We have 8 days of meals to use and want to do a couple of character meals.... :sunny:

Yes you will get a credit. But you have to ask. We had already paid for our August and September trip and had paid for dining. Since we have now gotten the free dining, they credited our credit card. (We put the trip on credit card and paid it off).

Skippyman111... you should call really soon since some resorts are 'sold out' of the promotion so just because you have the resort and dining plan doesn't guarantee you availability.

your credits are lumped together, not seperated as kid vs adult credits. So, you can pay every time for the kid's table service if you want and have that many more adult dinners if that is how you want to do things.

Whispering Canyon - if you get the all you can eat skillet, that is like a buffet and you have to pay per person (unless person is under 3, like at a buffet), so you would have to pay for your children if that was the meal you chose there.

CRT lunch - yes, now has the princesses from what I understand. Or will on the 10th or something soon.

Already paid - free dining promo - yes, you just call them up, tell them you want the free dining and they will credit you back money or made it paid towards any balance left.

character meal - just means that they take off a table service for that meal, not really "exchanging".

OK - after 6 hours of sleep (this message board is too cool!), I got up and called. We got the total amount due reduced (since we hadn't paid in full yet) by 560 !!!

You can't share meals at the buffets or family style meals. You would not be able to use credits for the adults only at Ohana, for example, and not use credits for the kids.

I am reading that LeCellier is now back to a One for the Disney Dining Plan? Mousesavers has info on the front page that it just went to a 2 coupons in May of 2005...Any info on this would be helpful... :sunny:

You can use only TS credits for the adults at Ohana's and not use TS credits for the kids, but you still have to PAY for the kids :). You can just tell them that you want to pay in cash for the kids.

It WAS 2, up until May, at which time it went down to a 1 credit place. Of course on the day we left...

I'm an annual passholder, can I add on the Disney Dining plan without buying a MYW ticket? The Disney site seems to suggest that you need to buy the hotel package with tickets to get the dining plan.

Also, does anyone know if you can order the special drinks at CRT (the Bibbiddi-Bobbiddi Brew) or 50's Prime Time (Mickey's Be-Bop Drink) that come with souvenir cups as the non-alcoholic drink option on the dining plan?

You must buy a MYW ticket to get the plan, but here is what many AP holders are doing. They will not use the one day ticket and then turn it in when it is time for their AP renewal and upgrade. There is a great discussion about doing that on the resort board.

 I am off for WDW...To the loyal followers of this thread, please bump when nessessary until we get a sticky!

Okay I am still undecided whether to buy the dining plan or not. DH still thinks we ought to wing it. :sad2:

Does anyone know how you apply payment for the HDDR, I have already paid for it (has to be paid in advance). How does the dining plan work for this if it is supposed to be PIA. :confused3 :confused3

they will refund your HDDR cost to you when they apply the dining plan.

Suvineir cups, glow in the dark ice cubes, and those types of items are NOT considered an included drink. You would have to pay for the "keepable" part. But I was able to order non-alcoholic smoothies, milkshakes, and other cool drinks.
