FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

I am not for sure what to do about the dining plan that we are getting with our trip that we are booking with AAA? This is our first time going to WDW and are going to stay at the AllStar Sports Resort. Any information anyone can give me will greatly be appreciated.

i have stayed at all stars sports 9+ times now.
do you want info on that resort?

are you on the package where you receive the cs, ts, snack per night?

what type of questions do you have? i will be glad to help if i can.

Ok....so are the food vouchers marked ADULT or CHILD? because if they are not then I think what you are saying is that we should buy our child's meal and then use his sit-down voucher for another sit-down meal or two ticket event?? You guys are very smart....I am so glad I found this site prior to our trip. Thanks ..mom or a pirate loving four year old pirate:

You don't even have to necessarly "buy" his meal....because you get so much food anyways...most of the time there is plenty to share...that way you can "save" credits that way also.

Here is the question:

2 adults staying in a room under the MYW package with dining. we have 10 TS credits between the two of us. Can we use 6 TS credits at one location at one seating to pay for our 4 teenage children who are not travelling with us but with their own group? Many have said that our cards will show 2A meaning 2 adults and the wait staff will only allow 2 TS credits to be used. This would not be a problem if we were trying this on one of the first days of the trip but we would have to do this on the last full day and I would hate to have all those TS credits left if they did not allow us to use them.

I think they would allow that. We had 3 adults on our plan, but bought meals for 4 adults at 3 meals when another family member joined us.

kutchyone......

i would say yes you can. the reason i said that is i had ts left and a day to go to use them and spent them all on a ts by myself.

i had 4 ts left. i dined alone one night. i told the waiter to put the charge for the 3 at the table near me on my card as i had 4 ts left.

he did and that grouped thanked me (they were strangers who i had never met......just wanted to spread pixie dust that night)

since i was able to use 4 ts at one time at the resturant, i don't see why you couldn't.

i find that when i have serious questions and call disney, i might get different/conflicting answers. if you call, get the name of the person that confirms your questions.

i have read that the combination of ts,cs,snacks can be used all at once if desired. no restrictions

I think it depends on the restaurant. Technically, you can't use your Dining Plan vouchers for people not on the plan. Some restaurant's wont allow more TS credits than people in your dining pool. However, as many other's have posted, a lot of restaurants have let people get away with it. Just plan on the chance that those not on the plan may have to pay for themselves if you get a CM that isn't willing to ring everyone up on your plan.

I really don't have an answer for the above questions. But if you pay for the meal plan you should be able to use it all at once or on different days or however you want as long as you are not abusing it. Disney still gets their money and more of yours as you have to eat every day you are there.

I would not consider paying for someone elses meal abusing it as what Macraven did was a very kind thing and I am sure made those lucky peoples visit more memerable.

Way to go Macraven. That is what Disney is all about.

pedro2112...where are you getting this information that you are quoting? Can you direct us to where Disney publishes that you cannot use moer TS credits than people in your dining pool?

I would like to know if they seperate the credits for adults and Children. The reason I ask is that we are going to WDW in April 2006 with the dining plan. It will be myself and my husband and our DD9 (who looks older than she is) Does she have to order only from the child's menu or will they know the difference. I am sure that she will get tired of mac and cheese and chicken fingers. So my question is does Disney mark the credits xxx amount Table Service credits for adults and XXX amount of Table service credits for Child. Or is it possible for her to order from the regular menu.

As of today they do not seperate the credits but that may change. You would have to order off the childrens menu for your DD9. You could change her age on your reservation to 10 but would have to pay the higher price for the meal plan & TP tickets. It will state on your room card 2A 1C so they will know she's 9

On the dining plan documents themselves, the fine print states:

Disney Dining Plan may not be sold separately, transferred, refunded or redeemed for cash in whole or in part.

However, this language is on the bottom of the page and in fine print. It seems as if many CMs are either not aware of this or don't care. My only caution is that if one plans to use credits for those not on the plan, be prepared for the chance that it may not be allowed by a CM who wants to follow the rule.

If you have a package can you add dining at a later date? If so, how close to your check-in can you add it? I have tried searching for this answer, but have had no luck. Thanks.

I understand your caution; people should not PLAN one way on the plan and then have it break down and be disappointed. With all due respect however, this disclaimer quote speaking to "transferred" would be giving away your plan to someone else to use. "You" the purchaser, must be the one to redeem the plan, but you CAN use these meals however, and for whomever you want. Cheers.

You cannot transfer your plan, even in part, as it is stated. Obviously that means you cannot give meal credits to those not on the plan, otherwise the language would not make sense.

I was told 5 days before arrival but others have posted 2 days. I know it can't be done once you do arrive.

Thank you! Do you know if they will charge the change fee of $50 for adding the dining?

You WILL NOT be charged a change fee, when you are adding dining to an existing package. As per previous posts, you must do it at least 48 prior to arrival, though most CM's I have spoken with, recommend that you do it at least 5 days ahead.
