Fantasy server

I just went back and found the slip for our server last year. He was excellent. For real. Anyway, I don't recognize his name, so he must have gone by a nickname, but I was wondering if anyone knew if he was still on the Fantasy?

Ashang is indeed excellent. We request him every time we are on the Fantasy.

He told us he is happy with the following he has cultivated on the ship, and has no desire to transfer to the new one(s).

We are on the Wonder in Feb., and not on the Fantasy again until next October. Like you, I sure hope he’s still there.

Ashang is AMAZING! We have requested him for our November cruise. We had a similar conversation with him as @squirk and he assured us he was happy to stay on the Fantasy.

I am glad to hear that he lived up to expectations.

For us, he is the gold standard by which all other servers are compared.

Darn. We've had Toto (also a nickname) and Agus and requested either of them as they are amazing.
Now I want to try Ashang.. I will add him to the request for our upcoming end of July cruise... Dinner is so much more enjoyable when you have a nice/fun server.

Absolutely true! Our first two cruises we had good/fun servers then the next two they were very mediocre. It didn’t ruin anything but definitely made dinner a little less enjoyable. That’s why we requested someone for our last cruise.

We always used to request O'Neill when we were on the Fantasy, but the last time we requested him he wasn't on the Fantasy any longer and was told that he left Disney. I will have to request Ashang for October. Thanks!

Admittedly, I have not had Ashang as a server, so I have no idea what he is like. However, what I found on that Magic is that the entire crew find that ship to be special, since it is the original, and they are the epitome of Disney Magic. Our server on the Magic was amazing (Nikola, but he was moving to Palo after our sailing). Our server this year on the Fantasy (Ronaldo) was amazing as well, and in talking with him, we found out he used to be on the Magic, and has been trying to get back to the Magic, because he misses that original ship, Disney Magic mentality.

In other words, I don't think you need to lower your expectations for the Magic. Have a great cruise!

Great to hear! We have only been on Fantasy and Dream so we are looking forward to a new vibe!

The only thing is they do not always get a choice in being moved. If the company feels they would be better elsewhere - say on one of the new ships - the choice would pretty much be move or separate from the company.

Sure. Or they might provide him with financial incentives that change his mind.

Actually, I do indeed worry they will make (or persuade) him to switch to one of the new ships. I am sure DCL wants all three of them to launch with some of the "best of the best" lead servers on-board.

Yes. “Move or separate” did not preclude an increase in salary.

Well, not if they wanted to stay with DCL. They could make the choice to leave DCL.

I actually asked Ashang about moving on up to head server, and he stated that he was not interested because the job (as he described it) is 95% dealing with complaints and problems. No chance to shine, and none of the good vibes and warm fuzzies that the lead server gets.

I don't know the policy on servers reporting cash tips, but I wonder if he makes more money than the average head server when you factor in those tips passed to him literally "under the table".
