Fantasy May 17, 2014 Come Along And Ride on a Fantastic Voyage!

Hi everyone- my mom and dad are going on this cruise and I am trying to help them plan. I tried looking at the DCL website to see if you can already look at what excursions are going to be available for it but could not find a place to look them up. Any help would be grateful. I was not even sure if they were posted yet. I know you can't book them until Feb. 1. Their names are Ralph and Alice.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the group. Are your parents planning on doing the FE exchange if so the link to the goolge doc to add their information is in the posts. If needed you can always private message me their info if they are wanting to join. We also have a facebook group and we are doing a meet and greet.

Again Welcome Ralph and Alice

Welcome LumosQ102 & magicgg

1st time cruisers Lumos? You'll get spoiled by Disney ... there is a lot of info available in the cruise section here ... here is just one link that gives some tips too ... http://liveworktravelusa.com/21-tips-for-first-time-cruisers/ ...

Magicgg ... here is the link ... http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/shore-excursions/

Hope it helps ...

Hi - thanks so much for the link! My friend and I are first time cruisers completely, Disney or otherwise. We're on the go city breaks or commando Disney touring holiday types so this is whole new experience. Those tips are going to be invaluable. :thumbsup2

Is anyone arriving a day or 2 before this cruise?

I'm trying to find what is better-taking advantage of a hotel transportation service or renting a car for 2 days before the cruise.

There are so many rental services its a little difficult.

I am going to give this out to our fellow cruisers. This recipe we gave out during our last cruise part of the FE exchange. The recipe is from my grandmother, Wanda.

Banana Split Pie
1 Ready Made Graham Cracker Crust
1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 small can crushed pineapple, drained
1 pound bananas, sliced
1 container Kool Whip, Thawed
1 small jar Maraschino Cherries
1 tablespoon walnuts, shelled and crushed

Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla: Beat until Smooth. Spoon into pie crust. Next, layer each remaining ingredient in order: Pineapple, sliced bananas, Kool whip, and cherries. Top with Nuts.

Is anyone planning to rent a cabana on Castaway? We went in with a family last May and had a great time. We would love to do it again. It is me, my husband and 3 year old daughter.

Welcome :welcome: to all our new cruisers. Hope you are planning on joining in on the FE, our meet and greet. We have 129 days left till we get to cruise. Our Fe list is on a Google Doc.

This will be our family's first cruise! We are so excited but it's a big trip to plan. We will be doing WDW for 3 days before and then 10 days after. We have 8 kids ranging from 7-16. I'm not sure about doing the FE, I heard they are fun and a lot of work and I'm thinking it will be enough just getting us there. Will we feel like we missed out??

Hello everyone,
I just registered here and signed up for the fish extender group. We are all so excited and getting ready for the trip!!!!!
Can't wait to meet other cruisers:)

Thank you,

Welcome all :welcome:

Wow 8timesblessed :crowded: you certainly are!! Cannot even begin to imagine planning a holiday with 8 kids. FE can be time-consuming but it can be a project for your kids to get involved in if they are interested in something like that, to look forward to their Disney cruise. FE do not have to be individual gifts but can be one for the entire family ... so they could plan for one FE gift from the 8timesblessed family to the other ... then they could get involved in delivering them when on the ship ... it is more for the kids than anything else as it is exciting for them to open their stateroom door each day to see what has been dropped off by the various "Secret Santas" ... there are so many ideas out there for FE gifts and they do not have to be large or expensive at all ... particularly if you are going to pack for eight + :crazy2: ... whatever your choice though, you and your entire family are still welcome to the group :thumbsup2

jjkhoward ... Cabanas are wonderful but it's like winning the lottery ... keeping our fingers crossed ...

andreap82 ... If you are staying at a Disney resort, it may be best to take the avail Disney transport to save the hassle of dropping off the rental. We are arriving 8 nights before the cruise and will likely be taking a limo rental service. We did it before on our B2B cruise in 2012 and it was great; convenient and relaxing ... but definitely pricier than the Disney buses. If you are going to MCO right after the cruise then Disney transpo is the way to go.

We just booked our stay at Disney Port Orleans Riverside this week for the eight nights before the cruise! ... and for the 3 nights after the cruise at Universal!! Disney did not have any promos yet for May but sister-in-law notified us of the booking special that Orbitz had earlier this week ... most of the Disney resorts were discounted plus they had an additional 15% off Code ... so PORS was 25% off the regular rate plus the additional 15% ... translated into savings of $826 :cool1: plus the Orbitz "special" also included a "free" cancellation policy of up to 48 hours before travel ... Update: Disney is now advertising a Spring rate special so the savings drops down to $225 for a comparable room which is still great ...

Then I booked the new Cabana Bay Beach resort at Universal for the 3 nights after and with the 15% Orbit discount plus the newly earned Orbitz bucks from the Disney booking, I saved over $100 compared to the Introductory Special rate being offered by Universal.

Starting to get excited ::yes::

Joining the FE is up to the person. If you decide to join you can always give each stateroom one gift during the cruise. You don't have to join. My mom did welcome you to the facebook group. Like she said you can always post the question over there and you will get replies. Like I said before joining is not required it always what the families can do.

Our first cruise we gave away

We might be interested. Also went last May but haven't done a cabana. It would be me, husband and we also have a 3 year old daughter!

Christy Armstrong Kanz's family (8timesblessed) have 8 children and would like to join the Fe. She asked me a question and I will pass it along.

She ask

Will people be put out that they have to supply stuff for our 8 kids if they only have 2?

This is my reply to her

Talked with my mom (Debra Bates) and she said if they don't feel like doing a gift for all 8 of your children they can do a cabin gift and me and her would like for you and your family to join the Fe exchange. Also you could do a cabin gift and have your children help deliver and put together.

Hello!!

We are very excited to be joining the cruise!!

We were originally going to be on the March 8th 2014 cruise but we had to cancel this past weekend because of some scheduling issues so I am glad I now have another cruise to obsess over!!!

It will be my entire family cruising. Myself, DH and 13 year old daughter.... My brother, SIL, 5 year old girl, 1.5 year old boy, My other brother, SIL, and their 1 year old..... and my parents!!!

Myself and my brothers would LOVE to join the FE and I will add us to the list.

I have read the entire thread and I have to say you guys seem like a really fun group so I am super excited!!!

I just joined the group and I think I made a boo boo....

I edited what I thought was a copy of the FE list because I am kinda crazy about organizing...... but when I went back to add my family information to the original I saw it was still edited.. So I guess I edited the original??...

I am so sorry!!! :confused3
