FANTASY FANTASTIC:::September 8, 2012

Oooo...

I just saw this post by a moderator on another board and thought I would share. My family loves to decorate our door, so we'll need to follow these new "guidelines"~

IMPORTANT!! All DCL cruisers please read!!
Hi everyone,

The site has been asked by to relay the following message regarding stateroom door decorations on DCL ships:

More and more guests are choosing to express their family pride and enthusiasm for Disney Cruise Line by decorating their stateroom doors aboard our ships.

As you might imagine, it is very important to us to keep our facilities looking their best for all our guests.

As part of our commitment to this area of focus, we ask that guests no longer affix anything to their stateroom door utilizing any adhesive or tape.

We have found that these adhesives damage the finish on the stateroom doors and therefore ask that guests limit door decoration to those of the magnetic variety.

Unofficially, what I'm hearing is that DCL is considering the possibility of levying surcharges on people who damage the door finish with adhesives. They're trying to avoid that because the really do appreciate the passion and creativity that people are putting into this, but the issue with the finishes coming off the doors is getting to be a real issue. I know some have already received this notice on-board the ship, but I wanted to make sure it's out there for everyone.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Everyone

So we are conducting inventory right now and have lots of small Disney things that we would like to giveaway as part of the FE group but I have a couple of questions.

Is it ok to pass them out bundled together with a flyer to our website?

Since some of the items are shopworn is that ok, they are new just not sale-able anymore since the packaging is worn and broken in spots.

Anyways Just wondering as I am trying to figure out what to do with these and this thought came to mind

Thanks for any help

speaking of FE's its time to get serious. Need names of participants, ages, last names and stateroom #'s. I really want to get everything done before the end of June when Jack gets out of school. Then I only have to deal with the late additions.

Just checking in, it has been a while since I have been on the message board and I was surprised to see all of the posts. I hope that someone will post the navigators for this week's cruise so we can get an idea of what to expect. I am excited that my DD(4) will be able to participate in the kids activities.

Tony! The list on page one is just a general idea..Elaine is our FE organizer so she will keep all room numbers and such...I am usually not very concerned about putting information out there...but we don't like to put kids names/ages/or possibly room numbers with our family names on the list....but some people personalize their gifts so they would need some of that. That way she can keep the list and then come August divide them up into teams ...we'd spend a lot of time chasing down 50+ rooms! :) More manageable teams of 15-20 is good :) Then she can just send organize it and we can put it on the Facebook page or she can email us the information so it is not in the public domain.

Hope this helps (I'm sure this is not the only reason, but a good one :))

We are on this cruise and just got off the Fantasy yesterday with the same itinerary. Ship was not crowded, but there were a little over 2,900 guests and many younger children. Enjoyed the new shows except for the welcome aboard show. Entertainment was good. 40% of the serving staff are new crew members, and it showed; however, they should be up to speed in September. Many of the crew that opened the ship will be on vacation during our cruise. First time we've ever run out of snow crab legs during a Palo brunch - miss PJ (he is now in concierge in a white uniform). Any specific questions, let me know.

Welcome Aboard!!

Hey!! I would love to hear what you did at the ports!! :) What are you planning to do in September? Were there any shows that you would skip if you had to? We just find it's so hard fitting them all in with the stuff we want to do onboard...or not miss ones? We might plan Palo the night of a show we've seen before (have been on Magic/Wonder only so not sure if there are any repeat shows) I am surprised they did not offer more specials to fill that cruise but maybe Disney thinks the new staff needs a gentle introduction to crowds. I know they offered some VGT deals, but never saw how much of a discount that turned out to be.

Did you go to St. John or stay in St. Thomas? I'm sure others will jump on and have loads of questions!! Thanks!!!

In St. Maarten, we used Bernard's Tours because of the recommendations found on the boards. We had a great time with our tour guide, the Mailman, and the highlight was watching planes land and take off at the beach runway. In the past, we took the See and Sea excursion as well as the butterfly farm excursion.

In St. Thomas, we just shopped this trip; however, in the past we have done the St. John snorkeling excursion that was great and the St. John island tour excursion.

The only show we thought was lame was the welcome aboard show which is different than the one on the classic ships.

Observations: liked Europa, Meridian was a good place for some quiet time, beware of the lip on the entry of the bathroom in the staterooms, inside staterooms only have 3 drawers and the Hairdryer is in one of them and smaller closets, Hairdryer works great plugged in at the desk, light just inside stateroom door is on a dimmer so you can control the brightness, switch for nightlight is on the desk, fridge is colder than on the classic ships, younger kids seemed to really enjoy the water play area, the only way to get to Palo, Remy, and Meridian was by the aft elevator, and you can view your bill and Shutter photos on the TV in your room.

Thank you!!! Thanks for the tip about the lip in the bathroom floor, I would be the one tripping my first step in!! Sounds like a great trip!! We are so excited, have never been to the Caribbean or further south than Orlando, so this is going to be a treat!! Thanks again!
