It's not them being "nice". Odds are the people they were waiting on had booked their flights and transportation to the port through Disney. Anyone who had not booked flights through Disney and was doing their own transportation and made it because of the others being delayed got very lucky. And should learn their lesson about booking flights the day of departure - especially in the winter.

I agree. I'm on the Magic tomorrow in Miami, and my Dad and I flew today from a known place in Kansas. I ended up changing my flight two days ago from 3 p.m. to 6 a.m. this morning because a decent ice/snow storm was going to go through starting about 9 a.m. It eventually didn't get there until noon and I just didn't want to risk it. The ice storm got there early though. That was fun driving in this morning, but I'm happy we are in Miami just waiting for tomorrow. (our original flight still took off on schedule)

You paid a little extra for peace of mind... smart. :)

Actually...Southwest changed my flight without charging since a weather advisory was in effect. :)

Even better!!! We are sailing out of Galveston in January and we are flying in 2 days early just to give us some time in case of bad weather (snow/ice) in NY which is always a possibility in Winter.

I could have written this exact post. We too are flying in two days early for a Galveston sailing in January, except we are flying from MA. Potential departure weather was the reason but I'm looking forward to seeing the sights in town for the first time.

Where are you staying? We picked the Hilton Galveston Island Resort as it had a great price and was close enough to restaurants to walk. Also has shuttle to port. We are on the Jan 6th Wonder.

Did they ever make an announcement about why they left so late?

Tremont House, because of the location near port and historic downtown. We'll be getting on as you disembark.

I was on the ship. Yes, they announced that it was due to passengers coming in late due to the winter storm. We didn't think it was very "nice", though, as the delayed start caused us to be late to Tortola, so all excursions to the Baths were cancelled.

They must have booked their flights through Disney then. But you're right, there should be a limit as to how long they wait compared to how many other passengers' plans it will affect.

I didn't really mind that we waited for the passengers, even though it caused us to miss a cool excursion. I'd hate to be in their place & miss the boat. It was a fantastic cruise. Was just commenting that there were two opposite perspectives to the event.

What excursion was it that you missed and how did leaving a couple hours late cause that?
